The technique body centering is an intuitive way for you to discover a physical state for yourself which is completely still,
Centred and at rest.
Have you ever noticed that even if you are sitting in the most comfortable ways,
You still have a frequent urge to move and change postures?
In order to enter deep meditative states,
It is essential that our body is at total rest at its centre so that our attention and awareness are free to move from the physical body to subtler mechanisms in us,
And there is a simple method to find your own centred physical state.
During this session,
You will not only experience a calm and restful body but also start to discover a sense of freedom and ease to naturally move into meditation.
Let's begin.
Make sure there is least amount of distractions or noises that could occur during the session.
Take a comfortable sitting posture either on a chair or on the ground with a pillow or blanket underneath.
Do not use any backrest.
It is important that your backbone is straight without leaning backwards or forwards.
It should be slightly stretched as if there is a gentle upwards pull on it.
Close your eyes.
Take a couple of deep breaths.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Relax your shoulders.
Relax your whole body and allow yourself to come at ease in this posture.
Now gently and slowly start swinging your upper body a few centimeters or inches towards left and then right,
Then again towards left and to the right,
Again to the left,
Again to the right and so on.
Just like an inverted pendulum of a clock with your head acting as the bob of this pendulum.
Your entire upper body should swing gently right and left and not just your head moving separately.
Keep this swinging movement very small,
Only a couple of centimeters or inches towards the left and towards the right.
Continue to swing gently to the right and to the left and to the right again and to the left.
Now slowly stop creating the swinging and allow it to happen effortlessly.
Leave it on its own.
Let the swinging naturally become smaller and smaller until the body on its own comes to a standstill.
Let the body find its center point where it would come to stillness.
Once the body has come to a standstill,
Feel the calmness arising and breathe in and out.
Let the body feel its center point where it would come to stillness.
Let us enter into the second stage.
Move your upper body in small anti-clockwise circles.
Allow the whole of your upper body move in these anti-clockwise circles.
Your head is moving with the largest radius.
Very gently and slowly continue moving in these small anti-clockwise circles.
Now,
Also let this movement lose its momentum and fade on its own with the circles becoming smaller and smaller and even smaller.
Allow the body to find its center.
Let the body find its center and slowly come again to a standstill on its own.
Stay in this centeredness and gently breathe in and out in this balanced state.
No more movement.
Essaing still.
And centeredness for a while.
Breathe in here,
Breathe out here.
Be aware of your balanced posture,
Your body resting in its center.
Gently and very slowly open your eyes.
