Hello,

I am Kristen Simons,

Meditation teacher and Reiki master teacher.

Today,

We'll take some time to talk about radical acceptance,

And then dive into a guided meditation to allow us to flow more naturally with the course of our lives.

Radical acceptance is a mindfulness-based practice that fully accepts reality without judgment or resistance,

Even if it's not what we want or how we want it to be.

Acceptance is about acknowledging and embracing the present moment,

No matter how difficult or painful,

Instead of fighting against the flow of our life.

This philosophy can help us reduce suffering and increase our emotional resilience by letting us let go of our attachment to how things should be,

And instead focus on what we can control in the present moment.

By accepting reality as it is,

We can start to make peace with ourselves and our circumstances,

Moving forward with a more positive and compassionate outlook.

I personally put this concept into use through the philosophy of Taoism.

Taoism is a philosophical and spiritual tradition that originated in ancient China.

It focuses on living in harmony with the Tao,

Often translated as the way or the path.

It is described as the natural order of the universe.

Taoism encourages individuals to embrace their natural selves,

Developing an understanding that we are part of nature,

Not separate from it.

It also emphasizes the balance between opposing forces,

As represented in the yin-yang symbol.

This shows us the need to find harmony in all aspects of life.

Through practices such as meditation,

Tai chi,

Or qigong,

Taoists seek to cultivate inner peace,

Wisdom,

And longevity.

Taoism offers a unique perspective on life that emphasizes the importance of balance,

Harmony,

And living in alignment with nature.

Now by contemplating the Taoist philosophy of the water course way,

We can practice radical acceptance.

Let us for a moment ponder the way in which water moves through its natural course.

We can observe how it flows from a higher elevation to a lower one,

Or adapts to the shape of its surroundings.

It does not battle or fight.

To move through its course,

It yields and moves gracefully and effortlessly through or around obstacles.

We can use this visualization to help us move with and through obstacles in our own lives.

Rallying against the natural flow of our life path,

Or playing the victim of our circumstances,

Only creates more suffering.

Adjusting one's view to the present moment allows for space where we may begin to accept and flow through our situations.

When we align ourselves with the present moment,

We can no longer be distracted by the what-ifs of the past,

Or entangled in anxiety over the unmanifest future.

We begin to flow in acceptance with loving kindness and patience.

So now let us settle into our space and cultivate softness and flow like water.

Find a comfortable position,

Sitting up or lying down,

Whichever is available to you in the moment.

Allow yourself to settle into your space,

Making sure you are comfortable.

Gently close your eyes and take a deep breath,

Allowing your belly to rise,

Then release all of the air from the depths of your lungs with a sigh.

See if you can make yourself just 10% comfortable.

Now that you are relaxed,

Allow your breath to find its natural rhythm.

Imagine standing by a peaceful river,

Watching the water flow effortlessly downstream.

Observe how it curves and weaves around rocks and branches,

Always moving forward gracefully and effortlessly.

Imagine yourself becoming the river,

Flowing with the current and moving through life with the same natural ease.

Let go of any resistance or struggle,

And allow yourself to be carried by the flow.

Feel the water gently massaging your skin as you flow downstream,

Releasing any tension or stress.

Let go of any worries or fears and surrender to the present moment.

Trust that the river of life will carry you exactly where you need to go.

Observe how the river adapts and changes,

Always responding to its surroundings.

Reflect on how you too can adjust and flow with the changes in your life,

Always moving forward with grace and ease.

As you continue to flow downstream,

Remind yourself that you can choose how you respond to the challenges and obstacles in your life.

You can choose to resist and struggle,

Or you can choose to flow like water,

With acceptance and ease.

Rest here for a moment,

And allow yourself to yield to the flow of your life's path.

Now gently bring your awareness back to your breath.

Notice its delicate flow in and out,

A reminder of the delicate flow of our lives as a part of the natural world.

Allow your breath to deepen,

Becoming aware of your surroundings once more.

You may bring small movements to your fingers and toes,

Sensing the subtle energies stirring there.

When you are ready,

You may slowly open your eyes.

Remember,

The softness that allows you to flow like water throughout your day is a remarkable quality to embrace.

It enables you to navigate challenges gracefully and quickly like the gentle stream,

Effortlessly maneuvering around obstacles in its path.

Just as water conforms to the shape of its container,

Embracing softness allows you to adapt to various situations with flexibility and grace.

This fluidity of being can provide a sense of peace and harmony,

Allowing you to approach life with a gentle stream that is both resilient and calming.

Embracing softness is not a sign of weakness,

But a recognition of the power of yielding and the beauty of gentle perseverance.

It is a reminder that flexibility can often be more powerful than force in the face of adversity,

And that a gentle approach can lead to profound transformation.

Just as water,

With its gentle persistence,

Can carve through rocks over time,

So too can the quality of softness shape and shift the landscape of your life,

Creating space for new growth and possibility.

Remember we have a choice in stressful situations,

Whether coping with health problems or other problems.

We can choose to flow like water in acceptance of our path,

Pausing in the moment to understand that life is not out to get us.

Everyone experiences hardship at some point.

We can choose the water course way and flow with change,

Adapting to offer compassion to ourselves or others with gracious acceptance.

Thank you so much for joining me here today for this listener requested meditation.

As always,

I am grateful to have met you on the path.

Namaste.
