Using meditation to boost energy offers many benefits including increased focus,
Reduction in stress,
Enhanced mood,
Heightened creativity and of course improved energy levels.
So here's a simple mindfulness meditation to help boost your energy.
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position.
You can sit cross-legged on a cushion or in a chair with your feet flat on the ground.
Make sure your back is straight but not rigid,
Allowing for natural alignment with your shoulders relaxed.
Close your eyes gently and take a few deep breaths,
Allowing your body to relax with each exhale.
Scan your body from head to toe,
Noticing any areas of tension and consciously release that tension as you breathe out.
Now bring your attention to your breath as it flows in and out of your body.
Notice the sensations of each inhale and exhale,
The rise and fall of your chest or abdomen.
Allow your breath to become deeper or rhythmic.
Begin to broaden your awareness to include your senses.
Notice any sounds around you without getting caught up in them,
Simply acknowledging their presence.
Feel the sensation of the air on your skin,
The temperature of the room.
If your eyes are closed,
Notice the play of light and darkness behind the eyelids.
Take a moment to reflect on the things you're grateful for.
This could be something as simple as the warmth of the sun on your face,
Or the support of loved ones.
Allow yourself to really feel the gratitude in your heart.
Imagine a bright warm light surrounding you,
Filling you with energy and vitality.
Visualise this light infusing every cell of your body,
Revitalising you from within.
With each inhale,
Imagine drawing in more of this energising light and with each exhale,
Release any remaining tension or fatigue.
Now take a moment to set an intention for the rest of this day.
This could be to approach tasks with focus and enthusiasm,
To be present and mindful in your interactions,
Or simply to carry this sense of energy and vitality with you.
Returning to the present,
Gently bring your awareness back to the present moment.
Wiggle your fingers and toes,
And stretch your body if it feels good.
When you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Practise this meditation regularly to cultivate a sense of mindful energy and vitality that you can tap into whenever you need a boost.
Enjoy the rest of your day,
And I will see you next time.
