This practice teaches us to come into a compassionate and kind relationship with ourselves - a direct antidote to self-judgement and self-criticism. When we practice self-compassion (a positive attitude towards oneself) we become more emotionally robust and resilient because we don't get overwhelmed by negative emotions (caused by a harsh and unkind attitude to oneself).
