“Living in rhythm” means attuning to your needs on a daily, seasonal, and cyclical basis. This means honoring ultradian rhythms and adjusting lifestyle and nutritional needs during seasonal shifts, as well as creating boundaries that support life cycles. New cycles include the sunrise & sunset; sleeping and waking; winter, spring, summer, and fall; a new year; a new decade, or new millennia. In this meditation, your breath is the best new cycle you can take advantage of right now.

Transcript

Close your eyes or lower your gaze.

Place one hand on your chest.

Begin to notice your breath.

Is it fast or slow?

Deep in your belly or shallow in your chest?

Does it sound loud or soft?

Spend a few more moments here just focusing on your breath.

What do you notice?

How does it feel?

Where does it go?

Now begin to tune in to how you're actually feeling.

Tired or energized?

Anxious or calm?

Distracted or focused?

What feelings are most prevalent for you in this moment?

Just notice what you notice without judgment,

Without trying to fix,

Control,

Or push away.

Just come into tune with how you feel.

Now begin to adjust your breath according to your feelings.

Do you need to deepen the breath?

Lengthen the breath?

Slow it down?

Extend your inhale or your exhale?

Do what feels right for you in this moment.

Taking the small step of attuning your breath to your feelings,

Giving yourself space to breathe into those feelings is one small step toward beginning to live in rhythm.

Enjoy a few more breaths totally tuned in to you,

Into what you need.

You can choose to stay here,

Continuing to tune the fine,

Perfect instrument that is you.

If you're ready to conclude your meditation,

Very slowly start to open the eyes,

Take in the sights around you,

And again,

Do what feels right for you in this moment.
