Releasing Grief And Sadness
by Kim Sheppard
When we don't process and release emotion the body stores emotion around the body. Grief and sadness is stored in the lungs. Hormones are released via your tears. Release the grief and sadness that is weighing you down.

Welcome to this guided meditation.
I'm your host Kim Shepard.
I encourage you to get into a comfortable position If you are in a chair,
I'd like you to have your feet resting on the ground Your hands resting comfortably on your lap palms facing up if you're choosing to lay down Getting into a comfortable position for you and just allow your body to let go of the tension arms by your side palms facing up closing your eyes and connecting in with your breath Slowly inhaling in through your nose and slowly exhaling out your mouth And as you connect in with this deep and slow restful breath Letting go of the tension From your day from your week from your life Feeling your body relax as it sinks down into The surface beneath you your eyes closed drawing them up to focus on your third eye And allow your eyes to rest in this position releasing any tension from your jaw softening your lips and allowing yourself To melt away any tension.
I like you to imagine that you're walking down by the beach And you can feel the sand beneath your feet.
You can hear the ocean the waves gently Rolling slowly to shore you can smell The salty air and a gentle breeze as it kisses your cheek and you find yourself Feeling present you find yourself breathing freely unobstructed You don't have the tension in your chest or your back or your shoulders preventing you from taking that deep breath and Imagine yourself breathing in that salty sea breeze that breath Cleansing your lungs and as we connect in with our lungs That's so freely without our conscious thought continue to breathe in and out Breathing in that fresh air exhaling toxins And focusing on that rise and fall of your breath as it moves like a wave through your body Our lungs can store the emotions of grief and sadness And at some point in our life,
We all experience these emotions But until we learn how to process these emotions in a healthy way Our lungs can store this emotion and when we have These emotions stored for lengthy periods of time they can develop into physical dis-ease or disharmony within the body You might find that when you have a cold That you always end up getting a cough because it goes down to your chest it goes down into the lungs And if we've stored this emotion it creates a subtle weakness within the lungs But I don't really see this as a weakness It's an opportunity to learn more about ourselves What are we holding on to this grief and sadness for?
Perhaps there was a point where a relationship broke down Or a loved one passed away We need to allow ourselves this time to grieve To express and process how we feel When we cry we release hormones through our tears and remember that feeling that when we cry We can feel this weight being lifted off our chest We can feel ourselves breathe deeper more freely and unobstructed It's time to let that go To not allow yourself to be weighed down by that burden anymore as you breathe in Imagine you're breathing in love as you exhale letting go of that grief and that sadness inhale love Exhale what needs to be released Love is that healing frequency It's that energy and that emotion that can alter how we feel in a moment It's okay that we have felt grief and sadness We're meant to experience these emotions But we're here to learn how to process and to heal and release those emotions When we release this emotion It's not even about letting go of the person It's not about letting go of the relationship It's about remembering to celebrate those good times About remembering all the times that you laughed and that you shared together And when we do feel grief and sadness It means that we've allowed ourself to love To fully allow ourselves to feel the depths of that glorious emotion of love We have been blessed and fortunate enough to be able to connect with people that we have loved so deeply And those people will always remain within us Within our memories within our thoughts within those moments in life Where you find yourself remembering them because it was something that they shared with you or told you and you've carried that through within your life Our loved ones don't want us to suffer in sadness They want us to remember How they made us feel in those loving ways How they touched our hearts and our minds and our souls You are free to express yourself.
It is safe for you to cry And to be you It is safe for you To remember the good times You truly are an amazing soul Who has loved deeply and it is time for you to deeply love yourself Taking a nice deep breath in through the nose And sighing out the mouth and breathing deeply for yourself to restore your lungs with that life force the air the energy the love And freeing yourself from the weight that you've been carrying within your lungs Go about the rest of your day Celebrating the good things within life Appreciating That flowery feeling of being loved Appreciating That flower that you walk past in your garden Appreciating that butterfly that floats around your head and then up over the neighbor's fence Many of these moments can be signs from our loved ones Where they're reminding us That it is okay to move forward in life Your love is forever strong It is forever connected And when you need that sign from Those in spirit ask them for a sign And notice what captures your attention Notice the feathers The butterflies the dragonflies the sunflowers the bumblebees Notice those things that keep catching your attention until you get to that point that you can acknowledge the sign And thank them for sending you that sign And then thank yourself for noticing the sign Grief can be a heavy emotion,
But you don't need to choose to continue to carry that heaviness When you feel it Love yourself Enjoy a cup of tea Enjoy this meditation Enjoy feeling the sun on your skin The breeze through your hair Enjoy feeling the life around you And you will find your way through this To finish this meditation,
I encourage you to think of an affirmation to support you To go about your day To let go of that heavy feeling Perhaps it is I am loved I am free I release my sadness I let go of the heaviness Choose what resonates with you And remember to use that as often as you need to Lots of love.
Namaste.
