This meditation is part of the series: Rescue Meditations for Parents – Finding Calm in Everyday Hectic Moments. This particular meditation is designed for you to return to a sense of calm and release the rush, following the morning drop off routine in your home. The goal is to let go of tension and reconnecting with yourself before moving from parenting to the rest of your day. The meditation includes a brief visualization, breathing, and calming words with the core message that "You did what needed to be done. You can start fresh now.” Music sourced from Pixabay by HarymachiMusic, Ikoliks, original_soundtrack, and music_for_video. Image by Ricinator on Pixabay.

Hi,

You've made it through another morning.

Shoes found,

Lunches packed,

Emotions managed,

Goodbyes said,

Hugs given,

Kisses given.

Maybe there were tears,

Maybe frustration,

Maybe laughter.

Whatever the morning held,

It's behind you now.

This is your moment to breathe again.

A soft landing after what might have been a storm or hurricane.

Take a slow,

Generous breath in through your nose.

And release it through your mouth.

Feel the weight begin to lift,

Even a little.

You don't have to rush anywhere right now.

Notice where you are.

If you're sitting,

Feel the seat supporting your body.

If you're standing or walking,

Sense your feet meeting the ground.

The ground is steady.

It doesn't ask anything of you.

Let your shoulders drop,

Bring your attention to the space between your eyebrows,

And allow it to relax a little bit.

Unclench your jaw.

Let the breath find its own rhythm.

Inhale and exhale.

You might even say quietly,

Here I am.

The mornings are often marathons of love and logistics.

There are tiny victories no one sees,

Zippers zipped,

Feelings soothed,

Stuffies found,

And reminders offered again and again.

If you felt impatient or short-tempered,

Notice that too,

Without judgment.

You were doing your best with what you had in that particular moment.

Take another slow breath in through your nose,

And out through your mouth.

With each exhale,

Imagine releasing the leftover tension of the morning,

The rush,

The noise,

The small worries that cling to you.

You don't need to carry them into your day.

You can leave them right here.

Picture yourself standing outside on a cool morning.

The air is crisp and fresh.

You can see your breath as a soft cloud in front of you.

Each exhale releases what's no longer needed.

Each inhale draws in something new,

Clarity,

Ease,

Warmth.

Above you,

The sun is rising,

Spilling light across the landscape.

This light doesn't ask you to do anything.

It simply shines.

Lift your face to it.

Let that warmth touch your face,

Your shoulders.

Let it melt away the residue of the morning rush.

You can begin again right here in this light.

Bring one hand to your heart if that feels comfortable.

Feel the steady beat beneath your palm.

That rhythm has carried you through every morning you've had,

Even the hard ones.

Whisper gently to yourself,

That was a lot,

And I made it through.

I'm learning to meet each morning with more gentleness.

I can start fresh right now.

Let those words settle.

They are not promises of perfection,

But invitations to calm.

Take another deep breath in through your nose,

And let it out through your mouth with a sigh.

Begin to notice the world around you again.

The sound of birds,

Of cars,

Of silence.

The light shifting through the window if you're near one.

The feeling of your breath moving in and out.

You are here in a new moment,

Calmer,

Softer,

Clearer.

You don't have to hold the morning anymore.

As you move into your own day,

May you carry this reminder.

You are allowed to begin again as many times as you need to.

Each breath can be a fresh start.

Be well.
