Hello,
I am so happy you're joining me for this meditation.
My name is Kim Marie.
Take a moment to settle in to a comfortable meditation posture,
Perhaps seated in a chair with the spine tall or on the ground on a meditation cushion or blanket to elevate the hips or even lying down if that's the most comfortable for you.
And assure that you won't be disturbed.
Your phone ringer is off and you're in a place that's fairly quiet.
Let's go ahead and take a great big inhale through the nose.
Open your mouth and sigh it out.
And go ahead,
Do that one or two more times if that feels good for you.
Just as a way to settle in,
To let go body and mind.
And if it's uncomfortable for you to close your eyes,
Just allow the gaze to fall softly on a still spot towards the earth.
For our meditation today,
I want you to consider that how we feel and the quality of our life is a direct reflection of the meaning that we give to different situations.
How you choose to see a situation or the lens that you are viewing the situation through.
So there's many different ways we can think about different situations.
You can see a challenging situation as a challenge or as a gift,
An opportunity for growth.
Perhaps when you come upon a challenging situation or even a challenging relationship,
You think why is this happening to me?
So sit for a moment and see how that feels.
Why is this happening to me?
It's kind of that victim mentality where we feel like we have no control over the situation or the challenge.
But another way we can view that same situation is why is this happening for me?
And see that challenge as a gift.
Where is the opportunity?
There are really two worlds that we are living in and experiencing.
The inside world and the outside world.
And very often we don't have control over our outside world,
But we do have control over our inside world.
How we choose to see things,
The energy that we give towards any given moment,
Situation,
Person.
I want you to consider thinking of challenges in your life like waves.
Waves come in and they go out.
And the wave,
No matter how big,
Doesn't last.
So when you're in a challenge in your life,
Remind yourself of that.
The challenges don't last.
The quality of your life is determined by how you live emotionally.
One more time.
The quality of your life is determined by how you live emotionally.
That's a quote by Tony Robbins and it directly relates to what we're talking about today.
The meaning you give to different situations,
The energy you give to different situations determines how you feel.
So another way to control that inside world,
Your experience in the world,
Is not only trying to find the blessings,
We already spoke about that.
Not is this a challenge,
But is this a gift?
Not this is happening to me,
But this is happening for me.
So finding the blessing,
But also how can you be the blessing?
How can you serve?
How can you give back and perhaps take that challenging situation or person and find a way that you can give?
And maybe it's not directly related to that situation or person,
But just the act of giving back,
Of being of service,
Always lightens the heart.
And there's many reasons why it does this,
But one huge one is that you take the focus off of what challenges you're experiencing and you instead put your energy towards lightening the challenges of others.
Take a few moments to sit with that,
To consider where in your life can you change your perspective?
Can you change how you're seeing a situation that's challenging and see it in a different,
More positive way?
Find the blessing,
Be the blessing.
How can I serve?
Set an intention to try to see things in a more positive way.
Try to give a positive meaning,
That positive twist to all challenges you come across,
Situations,
Relationships,
And see how that begins to shift your life in a more positive way.
Take a great big inhale through the nose.
Open your mouth,
Sigh it out.
Thank you so much for joining me for this meditation.
Namaste.
