Welcome to Yoga Nidra.

I'm so glad you're here.

For this practice,

Traditionally it's done lying down,

So I recommend gathering whatever you need to feel comfortable and supported.

So perhaps that is a pillow or blanket underneath the head,

Neck,

And shoulders.

Perhaps a bolster or a rolled blanket or towel underneath the knees.

Your body temperature will drop,

So I recommend a cozy blanket to cover yourself and an optional eye pillow as well.

So please take a little time,

Gather what you need,

Get yourself comfortable,

And we'll begin.

We'll begin by moving our attention into the body to release trapped energy and move deeper into total relaxation.

If you cannot have undue pressure in the head for any reason,

It is important that you breathe normally as you tense the body.

Tighten and tense the entire body as you inhale,

Making fists with the hands,

Arms,

Shoulders,

Feet,

Legs,

Face.

Hold the breath in.

Tighten.

Tighten.

Now let go completely.

Relax.

On your next exhalation,

Let go even more.

We will repeat again.

Inhale and tighten arms,

Hands,

Shoulders,

Feet,

Legs,

Face.

Tighten.

Tighten even more.

Hold the breath.

Hold.

Hold.

And let go.

Surrender to that wave of heaviness permeating the body.

Drop into it.

I invite you to close the eyes and allow your attention to move inward.

Feel your whole being beginning to soften and relax.

Breathe in fully and exhale with a deep sigh.

Again,

Inhale.

Exhale,

Let go even more.

Feel a sense of comfort,

Safety,

And peace begin to wash over you.

Now allow yourself to receive the following intention as I repeat it.

Let your whole body listen to what I say.

I trust myself and the path that brought me here.

Feel yourself descending down into the stillness beneath the mind.

All excess tension and holding carried out with each exhaling breath.

Release any struggle,

Any effort to make anything happen.

Enter into a state of complete non-doing.

As we enter this next phase of yoga nidra,

Remain as motionless as possible.

If you need to move or make an adjustment,

Do so mindfully and return to stillness as soon as you are able.

Resolve to remain awake,

Staying in touch with the sound of my voice.

Simply allow your entire body to respond to what I say directly and non-mentally.

Allow all thought,

All effort to dissolve into the vast spaciousness of being.

Enter into a state of complete non-doing.

Become aware of your inhalations and exhalations.

Without any struggle or effort,

Allow your inhalations to be a little more full,

Your exhalations a little more complete.

Allow attention to rest on the experience of steady unbroken breath.

Now draw the breath into your lower belly and fill the lungs from bottom to top as if filling a glass of water.

As you breathe out,

Empty your lungs from top to bottom.

Inhale bottom to top,

Exhale top to bottom.

Stay present to the wave-like motion of your abdomen and chest as you breathe in and out.

Allow a sense of peace and wellbeing to wash over you with each progressive inhalation and exhalation.

Let this feeling expand to include every part of your body.

Inhale as if your whole body is inhaling and exhale as if your whole body is exhaling.

Inhale and take in new energy.

Exhale,

Let go of all tension,

Worry,

And anxieties.

Let go.

Place any struggle,

Any effort to make anything happen.

Now breathe normally and be still.

Let the breath breathe itself,

The mind completely suspended in the dimension of silence.

Drop into that silent space where all doing stops.

Enter an effortless state of being.

Let the breath breathe itself,

The mind completely suspended in the dimension of silence.

Let the breath breathe itself,

The mind completely suspended in the dimension of silence.

As I name each body part,

Feel it being overcome with an overwhelming sense of heaviness.

Both feet like bricks,

Calves and knees heavy,

Solid like concrete,

Thighs and hips like sandbags pulling you down,

Abdomen,

Chest,

And back,

Gravity pulling you down,

Deeper,

Surrendering the weight of the spine,

Shoulders,

Arms,

And palms,

Very heavy,

So heavy that even if you tried to lift them,

You couldn't.

Feel your entire head weighted like a rock.

Now experience your whole body sinking,

Deeper and deeper.

Give your body completely and totally to the field of gravity,

Exerting its pull,

Dropping deeper into stillness and silent awareness.

Now as I name each body part,

Let it become empty and light,

Both feet buoyant,

Calves and knees vacant,

Thighs and hips hollow,

Spacious,

Abdomen,

Chest,

And back,

Body,

Weightless,

Effortless,

Shoulders,

Arms,

And palms,

Like hollow reeds,

Head,

Head,

And head,

Clear,

Open space,

The whole body an empty vessel,

Always present,

Constant,

And relaxed capacity for whatever fills you,

No resistance to any energy moving through,

Allowing it all to simply come and go.

Now sense a cushion of vital energy surrounding and permeating the entire body.

With each breath in,

Feel that cushion becoming stronger and more palpable until the entire body is felt as a pulsing,

Tingling energy field.

Sense that vital cushion of energy penetrating through the skin,

Through muscle and bone,

All the way to each and every cell,

Surrounding every cell of the body equally.

Allow that energy to softly soak into even those areas that are normally tight,

Tense,

Or disconnected.

Watch the intelligence of the body as it softens and opens around any area needing healing.

Give it room to shift and move,

Easing the jagged places,

Softening constricted areas.

Feel the soft energy of the breath moving all around and throughout,

Soft and easy,

Releasing tensions and density with each outgoing breath.

Trust it to let go in its own time,

Breathing it out.

There is nothing for you to do,

Steady and centered,

No longer at odds with any part of you,

Allowing and accepting it all.

Surround your body with unconditional love and acceptance.

Acknowledge that any physical manifestation is a very important messenger in your life,

That whatever happens is exactly what needs to happen for your growth and evolution.

All that is necessary is your willingness to be present to what is.

Be still and be at peace.

Give yourself the permission to enter into the deepest level of relaxation right now.

Let go.

Energy of sensation gathering,

Forming,

And dissipating.

Rest in vast,

Spacious awareness.

Here your intentions and affirmations are actualized and fulfilled with effortless ease.

Now allow yourself to receive the following intention as I repeat it.

Feel every cell of your body receiving these words.

I trust myself and the path that brought me here.

I trust myself and the path that brought me here.

I trust myself and the path that brought me here.

Allow yourself to receive the following affirmations as I repeat them.

Let your whole body listen to what I say.

I let go of that which I cannot control.

The more fully I let go,

The more fully my body can restore its health and well-being.

I rest in the divinity deep within.

I let it restore my inner peace.

Bring this intention once again into your awareness.

Trust that there is nothing for you to do to make it happen.

Simply allow it to take root in its own time and in its own way.

Know that the seed has been planted.

At this time,

Feel the presence of any guides,

Mentors,

Or teachers you feel connected to.

You may sense this as a universal force or energy surrounding you,

Guiding you.

Know that this presence surrounds you always.

You can draw on this presence at any time.

If there is any guidance to be received at this time,

Either as a felt sense,

Words,

Or images,

Allow yourself to receive it now.

Otherwise,

Simply rest back in the grace and protection of presence.

Recognize at this time that you have made a major shift in perspective.

This shift will enable you to interact with yourself and with the world in a new way.

The more often you connect with this new perspective,

The more empowered you become to shape and create your own life.

You are the creator of your experience of life.

Notice the rising and falling of your breath.

No effort or control on your part.

Slowly feel yourself beginning to rise to the surface of awareness.

Slowly begin to come back to awareness of your physical body.

Feel the sensation of your body lying on the floor,

The quality of the air as it touches your skin.

When you feel the impulse,

Begin to move and stretch your body as if awakening from a restful sleep.

If the impulse is to remain still,

Do so.

When you are ready,

Gently roll onto your right side.

Bring your intention into your awareness once again.

I trust myself and the path that brought me here.

Regardless of what you consciously recognize that has or has not changed,

Know that something deep within has shifted to connect you to this intention.

Without rush and with care,

Slowly use the strength of your arms to bring yourself up to a comfortable seated position,

Keeping the gaze soft.

Notice how relaxed the body is,

How soft the breath,

How silent the mind,

How quiet the heartbeat.

Be still and be grateful.

Trusting that you've been somewhere sacred and knowing that you can easily return here again and again.

Now you may rest in stillness or you may gradually open the eyes.

Now you may rest in stillness or you may gradually open the eyes.

Now you may gradually open the eyes.
