Good morning friends.
This is Kimberly the founder of Flourish.
For me it is Friday morning and it is one of those days that feel like it's just starting and I'm already behind.
I don't know how that happens.
It's it's not real.
That's a false perception.
There's there's nothing to be behind when the whole day is still ahead of us.
So if you're feeling that way you can join me in sort of shaking that off and recognizing that as a false narrative and if you're feeling great today then that's awesome.
Let's do a little meditation together maybe about seven or eight minutes and this is for everyone beginners and experienced meditators alike.
First of all wherever you are allow your body to settle.
You can be sitting on the floor in a chair you can be lying down.
If you're a driving absolutely fine.
Don't close your eyes.
Just let your body come to sort of a soft stillness and scan for any areas of tension.
Your eyes can still be open if they are.
Notice where you're feeling any bracing.
I'm often if I'm in a chair sort of bracing my legs where I'm it's as if I'm holding myself up still and not allowing the chair to fully support me or the ground.
Where can you soften?
Shoulders?
Neck?
Jaw?
Face?
Legs?
Even feet and toes?
Fingers?
And then as part of this softening practice let your eyes close if you can if you choose to if you want to.
Welcome to yourself.
This is just you just you sitting here.
Your body,
Your soul,
Your breath and that's all that matters for the next several minutes.
Notice your breath.
You might notice how it feels to have your breath coming in and out of your body.
You might notice if your breath has a certain rhythm or texture or a message for you or you might keep it simple and think,
Oh look at that I am breathing.
There it is.
You don't need to breathe in any special way.
You don't have to take forced deep breaths.
Just let your breath come and go easily,
Naturally.
Let your breath lead and your noticing follow rather than your noticing being a purposeful effort of breath.
Now slowly start to notice your emotional self.
Whatever is happening deeper than the surface,
Physical feelings,
Function of breath.
What's happening in your mind,
In your spirit today?
What are your patterns of thoughts?
What are the somatic feelings?
What emotions are showing up in your body causing some physical sensation or even simply how are you feeling?
How are you today?
What's going on with you?
This is simply an invitation to notice,
To notice yourself,
To notice your depth,
Your inner voice.
This is not a space for judgment or action or fixing.
This is an observation.
And finally,
What is it that you need most right now?
Whether that's this part of your day,
The day,
This week,
Or even like this season of life.
What is it that you need most that you're not yet getting?
Is there something that that little inner voice is asking you?
Be it a whisper or a yell.
What do you truly need?
Spend just a few moments with that and then release any effort of thought,
The work of noticing and observing.
Let that go and spend just a few moments here just to sit and breathe and be just as you are.
Hello self.
What has shifted since this connection to self began just a few minutes ago?
Has there been even a little bit of a shift?
Can you recognize that?
Show yourself a little bit of gratitude for taking this time,
For making this investment in yourself.
Bring some movement into your body,
Maybe sway from side to side,
Wiggle fingers and toes,
Roll out your shoulders,
Whatever feels good.
Take a couple of deep breaths.
Big exhales out the mouth with these.
Whenever you feel ready,
There's no rush.
Open your eyes.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
