It's jaw yoga time.
So bring your tongue up,
Your lips close,
Relax your jaw and breathe through your nose.
Today's topic is all about stress and why jaw stress affects your jaw muscles.
We call it jaw stress,
What you're experiencing when your jaw gets tensed up when you are in stressful moments in your life.
And this is a body reaction,
What is really normal and you can't do anything about it.
Because this body reaction when you experience stress and your jaw gets tensed is just to save you,
To save your brain.
So imagine many many years before when humans still lived in caves,
They had to fight or flight to survive.
And when there is some danger outside,
They clench their teeth and their jaw gets really tensed up so that the brain is safe from getting a hit and the brain gets shaked and damaged.
So this is all good for your body,
But the problem today is that we don't fight or fly from a situation,
We don't move our body bodies anymore.
We just are stuck in this jaw stress experience and that's not healthy anymore.
So what you can do is to be or become aware of your jaw stress in your daily life and therefore you then can step out of this cycle of stress and jaw stress,
Stress and jaw stress.
This exercise is quite simple.
You just take an alarm every hour for at least one week and each time your alarm rings,
You just sit down,
Close your eyes and focus on your inside.
You just feel your feelings,
You feel the body sensations in your body,
You just observe what you're thinking in this moment if there is some stress and then you pay attention to your jaw and you feel is your jaw tensed up or is it moved forward or to one side?
Are you doing some movements with your jaw when you're stressed?
Maybe you are clenching or grinding and then you write all of this down for one week and after this week you can see some connections between your feelings,
Your thoughts,
Your stress and what you are doing in these situations with your jaw and that's very important because as soon as you're aware of these mechanisms,
You can change it.
So you empower yourself and then you see,
Okay,
So I'm stressed and my jaw gets tensed and then you can loosen it up and with joy yoga you have all the opportunities to relax your jaw in a very soft and simple way because the problem is every time your jaw is tensed your body thinks there is danger and creates more stress.
So you see this is a cycle and you have to step out of this cycle consciously otherwise you're driven by this cycle day by day.
