Welcome to this jaw tension release and gratitude meditation.
What a gift it is to experience another day,
Another moment.
And although sometimes we might not feel satisfied about our experience,
Or we might feel that it's unfair,
Like right here,
The wind is rattling very heavily outside,
And I would rather have a sunny day.
And I have the choice,
Do I get annoyed about the wind outside that might be making this recording a little bit less appealing?
That means I can't get my vitamin D today,
Or at least not very much of it.
I can't go outside in a t-shirt,
Etc.
What do I appreciate?
That I get to live another day today.
And maybe within the wind,
I find something that I also appreciate.
Or maybe it opens up an opportunity for me to do something that I didn't do for a long time,
Or to change my perspective.
And it's the same thing when it comes to our jaw being tense.
It can really feel like a tornado at times,
I know that.
As with any health issue.
But really that does not take away from the fact that we're blessed to have another day.
And that we can just work with it,
Seeing if there are any lessons in here.
So just maybe,
Having gone through this period of jaw tension,
And it might be many years for you,
Or just a few days,
It depends.
Maybe although it was painful and annoying,
There's a lesson here that is teaching us.
Something that we've been blind to.
And it's continuously been calling for our attention.
So if we know the lesson or not,
Let's just take a second to be grateful to our jaw.
And grateful that it's been doing exactly what it's been designed to do.
Jaw tension and jaw pain can feel like the jaw is malfunctioning and not doing what it's designed to do.
But nature makes no mistakes.
It is perfectly responding to the disbalances or balances in our life.
So thanking it for perfectly doing its job,
Even if we've judged it and resisted it so many times.
Because really,
From an evolutionary standpoint,
What is our jaw doing by clenching up?
By getting tense.
Well really our jaw clenches up to protect our most vital parts of our body.
Our brain,
Our spinal cord,
And our jaw,
The way that we eat.
It's just that we have many more stresses,
Maybe very different stresses,
Than back in the day.
But equally trigger that response,
Equally trying to protect itself.
And some of us have gotten so lost in all the emotions and all the stresses,
That the tension decided it would be best to stay.
To protect again and again,
Never giving up on us,
Always trying to protect and preserve our being.
Thank you.
Thank you for playing such an important part,
For ensuring that I thrive and survive.
Tune in again to the joy of being alive,
For the gift of this experience.
Now thriving might look a little bit different to what actually happens there.
And thriving might actually be more to do with reframing things and getting out of the cycle of clenching down,
Of tensing up.
But our jaw and our oral facial system does the best it can.
And we have the ability with mind over matter to reframe things for us.
So just for a minute,
Tune in to what may be the root of your jaw tensing up.
And do this with a childlike curiosity,
No judgement.
There's no pressure here to find out anything.
Just exploring,
And if nothing comes,
Just enjoying this moment and breathing.
Now is there any way that you can reframe this?
Is there any way you can stop resisting?
Is there any way to maybe even be grateful?
This can really just be a tiny little seed of change in perspective.
We're not trying to make anything happen.
If we have a huge shift,
Amazing.
If we have a tiny realization,
Amazing.
If we're just breathing and calming down,
That is equally amazing.
Thank you.
Thank you for letting me live this life,
Experiencing this life every moment,
Moment by moment.
And as the winds keep going on outside,
I'm just grateful to be alive.
Now let's just take a moment bringing to mind three things that we're really grateful for today.
And maybe it's your jaw again.
Or just something completely different.
When we're in tune with this gratitude,
Just really embodying this emotion of gratitude,
This feeling of gratitude in our whole body,
Flowing into our jaw.
Our whole body radiating gratitude.
If people were to walk past,
They could almost point and say,
I think this person is really grateful.
They're just beaming with gratitude.
That's beautiful.
I want to be more like that too.
What am I grateful for?
And that's how it snowballs and snowballs,
Creating ripples of gratitude and love in this world.
Started by simply shifting your perspective from things not being right,
Not being sunny,
To appreciating what is here.
Thank you for meditating with me.
Just check into your heart one last time if there is anything you want to remember from this meditation.
Carrying that awareness and intention forward into the rest of your day.
