To begin,
Seat yourself comfortably in preparation for meditation.
I recommend sitting upright with your spine straight.
But if you do want to lie down or find some other position,
That is also fine.
There may be sounds present,
In the room or outside.
Notice those now and know that they may be present throughout this exercise and then just let them pass you by.
This can also be true for thoughts.
They may come and go but you can just let them flow past without attaching too much importance to them.
Come into awareness of your body.
Notice how supported you are.
Notice your breathing.
Allow yourself to find that space that is both alert and relaxed.
If you have been carrying anything from the past,
Either the immediate past or longer term,
Which no longer serves you,
You can just release that now,
Trusting it to leave gently and kindly.
Coming into the present with an air of mindful curiosity.
Now bring to mind your day ahead and specifically the main theme,
Task or event of your day.
If you have many things lined up for the day,
Allow one to present itself to you for your attention now.
Visualise yourself doing that task from the outside.
What is the context of this task?
What is the purpose and intention,
The why of your task?
Continue to breathe and allow the answer to come to you.
Remember we are practising mindful curiosity here,
Not judgement.
Whatever the intention,
Know that it is worthy and if you don't yet find it easy to identify with that intention,
Just ask yourself again,
Gently,
Is there a higher purpose to this intention?
And again,
Just allow the answer to come.
And if you've found the highest purpose and intention,
Just hold it within you for a moment.
And if you're not yet there,
Just ask yourself one more time,
What is the very highest purpose to this intention?
And welcome the answer as it comes.
Just spend a moment feeling what that higher purpose is like.
Allow it to spread throughout your body,
To resonate between your atoms.
Allow any sounds,
Words or pictures to come.
Welcome the highest purpose.
Allow your own energy to align with it.
And when you are aligned with the highest purpose,
Imagine carrying that alignment forward into your task for the day.
If you visualise the scene in front of you,
Imagine stepping in and passing on that alignment to yourself as you do the task.
Or you could just know that the alignment is there and that you can access it with ease whenever you want to,
Including whenever you're doing the task.
And then allow that to become unconscious,
Bringing your conscious awareness back to your body as you sit.
The breathing.
The sounds around you.
