Get into a comfortable meditation posture.

Start to calm your mind by focusing on your breath.

Without trying to control the breath,

Notice the feeling of air passing by your nostrils as you inhale.

And as you exhale,

May even notice the coolness of the air when you inhale,

And the warmth of the air when you exhale.

You may notice the rise and fall of your body as you inhale or exhale,

Paying attention to the rhythm of your breath today.

You may also notice where your breath stops in your body today.

Is it sitting in your throat,

Stopping at your chest,

Or is it getting down into your belly?

Take a few moments to take control of your breath.

Try to move the breath as deep as you can into your belly.

Inhale as fully as you can,

Until your belly is filled with air,

Inflating your belly like a balloon with each inhale.

Release every drop of air that you can with each exhale.

Slowly and steadily,

Move back and forth like this for a few moments.

Now,

Let your breath return to its natural rhythm and shift your attention to your body.

Can you feel the edges of your body?

Where your body meets the air in the room?

Where it meets the chair that you sit in?

Is there any feeling within your body today?

Can you notice bubbling up within you?

Where is your center of feel?

Where are you carrying the weight of the day today?

Now we are going to work on letting go.

Letting go of something you may have been holding onto.

First,

I invite you to think of whatever it is you have been holding onto.

This situation or person or thing that you'd like to start letting go of.

Think of it in as much detail as you can.

What do you notice in your body?

Any tightness?

Any discomfort within the body?

Anything that feels like fear,

Anger,

Nervousness or any other emotion coming up in your body?

If so,

Just notice those feelings for a moment.

Even take a hand and massage the space in your body that you feel them for just a few moments.

Then letting your hand rest on the place you have the most feeling in your body.

Focus on the feeling while you silently ask yourself the following.

What purpose has this served for me?

Why am I holding onto it?

Just whatever comes up within you.

Just listen.

Now,

Gather up those reasons and put them aside.

And ask yourself again,

What purpose has this really served for me?

Why am I really holding onto this?

Again,

Trust whatever comes up within you and just listen.

Now,

Gather up those reasons and put them aside for now.

And ask yourself again,

What purpose has this really,

Really served for me?

Why am I really,

Really holding onto this?

Again,

Trust whatever comes up and just listen.

Now,

Take a moment to notice any changes in your body.

Any feelings that have come up as we recognize why we hold on.

Know there is nothing wrong with holding on to something or someone as long as it still serves us.

But it may be time to let go if we notice that it's now hurting us,

Holding us back,

Making us feel tied to it,

Or no longer serving us in general.

Ask yourself the question,

What might be different if I no longer hold on to this something,

Someone,

Or situation?

How might I feel if I were no longer holding on?

How might my life be different if I no longer hold on?

What good might it do me?

What could I cultivate in its place?

What could I move into?

Take a few moments to picture the positives that could come from letting go.

Now,

Within yourself,

Ask the following,

Do I want to let go?

Am I ready?

If not,

Is there something I might need to let go of first?

Letting go can sometimes be a process.

So if there's something you need to let go of before you can let go of a bigger thing,

Feel free to switch your meditation to focus on letting go of that now.

Once you're ready to let go,

Start by acknowledging that letting go is a choice.

It is a choice to let go of what no longer serves us.

It can move us into a new way of being that might make us happier,

That we now want for ourselves.

That doesn't mean that which we held on to before means any less in our life.

It simply means it served its purpose.

It can remain a memory from the past,

Something that taught us that we are choosing to move forward.

To make that choice,

Silently to yourself,

Repeat the following and send the intention toward whatever you were letting go of.

Thank you.

Thank you for all that you brought to my life.

I have eternal gratitude for all that you brought to my life.

Thank you for all you taught me.

I will never forget you,

But it is time for me to keep growing into myself and my life.

Raise a hand over your heart where you feel the most in your body.

Say to yourself the following.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy and safe.

May I love and accept myself exactly as I am right now.

May I be free from suffering.

May I let go of that which no longer serves me so I can keep expanding and be my best self.

And may I be an example of peace.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy and safe.

May I love and accept myself exactly as I am right now.

May I be free from suffering.

May I let go of that which no longer serves me so I can keep expanding and be my best self.

And may I be an example of peace.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy and safe.

May I love and accept myself exactly as I am right now.

May I be free from suffering.

May I let go of that which no longer serves me so I can keep expanding and be my best self.

May I be an example of peace.

Now I want you to imagine gathering up all the negativity in your body,

Any unpleasantness that this memory has brought and picture it as black smoke.

Keep gathering the black smoke into your center from every space in your body,

Every vein,

Every cell,

Every atom and with each exhale imagine just breathing it out.

Imagine it floating away from you,

Evaporating into the air above you,

Not harming anything,

Not disturbing anything,

Just disappearing with each exhale.

Breathe deeper and deeper,

Gathering up more of this black smoke and letting go with each exhale.

Repeat this way for a few moments.

Continue to release any lingering black smoke and negativity with each exhale.

But on each inhale I now want you to imagine breathing in pure white cleansing light.

Imagine it pouring through your nostrils,

Moving through your body,

Cleansing you of any lingering black smoke.

Pure white cleansing light moving into every space of your body,

Every cell,

Every atom until you are filled with purity and love.

Breathe like this for some time,

Gathering any lingering black smoke and negativity,

Breathing it out and then inviting in pure white loving cleansing light to heal you with every inhale.

By now imagine your body full of pure white light and know that you are full of potential.

That which has happened in your past no longer holds you.

You are full of love,

Energy and positivity.

What do you want for yourself moving forward?

What do you want to be different within you now that you have let go?

Even a little.

What do you want to feel?

Imagine that feeling that you desire growing and growing within you.

Imagine it swelling as large as it can within your body.

Picture how good it will feel.

How you might move through the days now that you have the opportunity to feel that way.

Silently offer up a wish for yourself.

For what's next for you.

Maybe as simple as may I have the courage and awareness to keep moving forward and keep moving toward this feeling,

To keep inviting more of it into my life.

Whatever it is,

Offer this wish up for yourself now.

As we conclude,

Silently ask yourself the question,

What do I now know?

What did I learn from this experience?

You can continue to think about the answer to this question as you hear the chime of the meditation bells.

At the end of the third bell,

You can open your eyes and come back to the room.

Very useful. Liked the guidance and imagery. Liked the timing, just short enough to hear your inner voice's immediate reaction, without overthinking. I think I would benefit tremendously by exploring this further. Reminds me a little of the "5 Why's" technique, which I'm generally not a fan of, but in this meditation it works. Thank you.

Surprisingly powerful for short length. At first I agreed with other comments about music. However, once you get a few minutes in, it doesn't matter, and music might even detract from speaker's power and the work.

One of my new favs. Letting go of the life I wanted has been preventing me from accepting what is and welcoming the new. Thank you for helping me release what has been blocking me. Will listen again and again.
