Have you ever found yourself in the eye of the storm?
In this meditation I hope to help you find peace in the midst of life's stormy seasons.
I will guide you with my words to breathe and visualize a place of rest.
Once we arrive at this place of rest I'll allow you several quiet minutes to fully absorb the experience.
Literal and figurative storms are raging across the earth spreading fire,
Sickness,
Division,
Fear and anger,
Grief and despair are loud.
Our planet is crying out.
We as a people are awakening to a new reality.
It's hard to see straight,
To feel the ground beneath our feet,
To breathe fully and freely.
We are tossed about,
Disoriented,
Weary.
Perhaps you've been efforting in the storm only to feel the pressure of strong winds against you at every step.
It's energy more dense and powerful than you can bear.
You need a break.
You need rest.
I invite you now to find a comfortable position and gently close your eyes.
Spend a few moments connecting with the fullness of your body.
Can you feel how solid and real you are?
Hold this awareness for a moment while you take several slow,
Long,
Relaxed breaths.
Now imagine the winds are howling all around you but you take a step forward and find that they are not so fierce now.
You step again and find them calmer still.
With your third step you find that the winds have ceased.
You are now in the eye of the storm.
Here you are protected.
In this space all is calm.
Imagine before you now a safe,
Comfortable place to sit.
Maybe it's a cozy,
Oversized chair.
Perhaps it's a sofa where you can stretch out and recline or maybe it's a gently swaying hammock.
Notice the details of your seat as well as a swelling of gratitude to be able to relax in this space.
As you climb into rest,
Allow yourself to be carried wherever the storm is going.
You are protected.
You are well.
You are at ease.
From this vantage point you can observe the storm in peace.
You watch without becoming.
You care without worrying.
You trust,
Rest and wait.
Now just sit right here inhaling deeply through your nose and slowly through your mouth.
You are not the storm.
You,
Lovely,
Gentle soul,
Are the observer of it all.
And I wonder what it is you see now.
Take a look.
In the eye of the storm I see.
In the eye of the storm I see.
In the eye of the storm I see.
Breathe deeply and see now.
You you you When the wild winds feel too overwhelming,
Remember you don't have to get caught up in them.
You are always welcome in the eye of the storm where you can regain your true sight.
All you ever need to do is remember this and you're there.
Before you open your eyes,
Pause.
Remember what was it you saw in the eye of the storm?
If this vision were a guide,
What would it be leading you to do?
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and come back to the room.
You you
