Welcome to yoga nidra for inner freedom.

Take a moment now to place your body in a restful supported position.

We are going to do a guided awareness practice.

You may not hear everything I say.

You may even drift to sleep.

As we progress,

You may feel as if you are sleeping,

Yet you are still aware at the same time.

All of these experiences are valid.

What happens for you in this practice is fine and just right for you right now.

During the guided awareness practice,

I will be asking you to sense different parts of your body.

It's okay if you are not actually able to feel each body part.

Simply stay present to the sound of my voice,

Continuing to bring your awareness back to each body part as you hear it named.

Finally,

If your body is asking to shift at any time during this practice,

Please make any movements that bring comfort and ease into your body.

Following our guided awareness practice,

We will pause in stillness for a few moments.

And when that is complete,

I will bring you back out.

We will begin our practice by taking three full deep breaths.

Inhaling through the nose,

Filling the belly.

Exhaling a sigh.

Inhale fully,

Filling the belly.

Exhale sigh.

And one more full deep breath in.

Long exhale.

And now invite your breathing to return to its natural rhythm.

Your breath may change during the practice,

Becoming more shallow,

Subtle,

And faint,

Or your breathing may become long and deep.

Whatever happens with your breathing is fine and just right for you right now.

Today we are contemplating the wise words of Buddha.

Inner freedom is not guided by our efforts.

It comes from seeing what is true.

Sense your mind and let your mind know that you are safe,

That it's okay to soften,

To be present and at ease during this practice.

You may even invite your brain to soften toward the back of your skull.
