Welcome.
Today I will be guiding you through a meditation that is focused on stress,
Caused from both overwork and burnout.
Now we all have felt stress,
Stress from work,
Stress from family,
Sometimes even good things can be stressful.
But for those of us who have experienced burnouts,
It can be a different beast entirely.
It often feels like hopelessness,
Anxiety,
And apathy all swirling around you until you just can't breathe and you just want to give up.
Now speaking from experience,
This is where Yoga Nidra has helped me.
Yoga Nidra,
For those who don't know,
Is a guided meditation practice that profoundly relaxes both the body and mind for a deep restorative relaxation.
The amazing thing about Yoga Nidra is that really anyone can do it.
Yoga Nidra uses our body's natural ability to fall asleep in order to bring your mind and body into these deep levels of relaxation.
Honestly,
The hardest thing about Yoga Nidra is just trying not to fall asleep.
When it comes to managing stress and burnouts,
Yoga Nidra helps to remind us that we are not our emotions.
We are not our jobs or the stress that we're experiencing in the moment.
It helps to bring us back to a centered state of being that allows us more mental space just to be.
It allows us more mental space to choose skillful actions and not be controlled by our thoughts,
Our emotions,
Or the stress that we're feeling.
Now we will begin shortly,
So go ahead and start getting yourself comfortable,
Either laying on the floor or on the bed.
I do recommend a pillow underneath the head and maybe one under your knees as well.
I also recommend a blanket as your body temperature does drop during Yoga Nidra.
Also,
Go ahead and leave your arms uncovered,
And if you do have an eye pillow,
Just leave that to the side for now as we will be touching the face a little during the first phase of Yoga Nidra.
Now,
Close your eyes and quiet your mind and be still.
Let go of all thoughts,
Worry,
And tension.
Give yourself fully to a higher power.
Relax,
Trust,
And let go.
Now breathe in fully and exhale with a deep sigh.
And again,
Breathe in fully and exhale with a deep sigh.
And let go even more.
Give a deep sense of contentment and peace within your heart.
Now allow yourself to receive the following intention as I repeat it.
Let your whole body listen to what I say.
I do my best and let go.
I am more than my work.
Now bring your body into awareness.
Recognize that your body has been a trusted vehicle creating accomplishments and contributions to the best of its ability.
Now,
It is time for your body to rest deeply.
Now maintaining this inner awareness,
Gently begin rubbing the palms together.
Keep rubbing and start to feel the warmth that's building in your palms.
Now,
To the degree that you are comfortable,
Place your fingertips on the eyelids,
The entire surface of the palms touching your face.
Start now by massaging the face.
The fingers working up from the eyebrows and up to the hairline.
Moving out to the temples and circling the fingers at the temples.
Now moving down to the joint of the jaw and down along the jaw line to the chin.
Now massage around the parentheses of the mouth and up to the bridge of the nose and around the orbits of the eyes.
Now moving to the ears,
Massaging in front of and behind the ears.
Maybe even a gentle pull on the ear lobes.
Just feel that tension and holding melt away.
Now squeeze the back of the neck and maybe even down to the shoulders.
Now once again,
Place the entire surface of the palms on the face,
The fingertips on the eyelids,
And drop all expression from the face.
Now take a deep breath in and let go.
Take another deep breath in and let go even more.
Now release your arms down to your sides.
And you may cover your arms and place an eye pillow over your eyes if you'd like.
And just for a moment,
Feel the impact flooding the whole body and the entire being.
And just bathe in the sensations.
Now enter the deepest state of letting go right now.
Release any struggle to make anything happen.
Immerse yourself fully in the feeling that is the present.
Now as we enter this next phase of yoga nidra,
Remain as motionless as possible.
If you need to move or make an adjustment,
Do so mindfully and return to stillness as soon as you're able.
Resolve to remain awake,
Staying in touch with the sound of my voice.
Allow your entire body to respond to my words directly and non-mentally.
Allow any disturbances,
External or internal,
To draw you more deeply within.
In yoga nidra,
You enter the subconscious pranic field.
Let your mind merge and melt into the energy field and go beyond the boundaries of body and of mind.
Now shift from thinking and doing to feeling and being.
Do absolutely nothing from now on.
Simply relax.
Drop into the deepest states of tranquility,
Stillness,
And peace.
Now your consciousness is in direct communion with your energy body.
Now as you breathe in through your nose,
Fill your lungs fully and completely without straining.
And when ready,
Start exhaling softly through pursed lips as if you are blowing through a straw.
Let it be prolonged,
Steady stream of breath and empty your lungs completely.
As you inhale,
Fill your heart with joy and each time you exhale,
Empty your mind of all anticipations and empty your body of all tensions.
Each time you inhale,
Drop into a deeper level of silence awareness and experience the balancing and relaxing impact of the parasympathetic nervic system.
Continue to breathe with constant attention and detached awareness.
Now return to your normal breathing and turn your attention inward.
Experience the powerful impact of vibratory energetic pulsations in the form of sensations within your body.
Let your detached awareness embrace all experiences unconditionally and let your mind melt and merge into it.
Now bring your total undivided attention to the center between your eyebrows and drop into the deepest level of silent stillness,
Peace and harmony.
Drop into that silent space where all doing stops.
Enter an effortless state of being.
Now follow my guidance as we move through different parts of the body.
Let your attention rest on each body part as I name it without comment or judgment.
All ten toes,
Both ankles,
Both knees,
Pelvis,
Chest,
Shoulders,
Arms,
Hands,
Throat,
Chin,
Face,
Your whole head,
Back of head,
Shoulder blades,
Back,
Back of thighs,
Calves,
Heels,
Soles of the feet.
Sense the whole body from the top of the head to the tip of the toes.
Your whole body.
Feel the whole body contained in vast spacious awareness.
In this deep state of awareness,
Allow the following polar experiences and their associations to arise and dissolve.
Simply allowing all experiences to move through without preference,
Labels,
Or judgment.
By remaining witness,
You are releasing your identification with pre-programmed thoughts and feelings,
Pain and pleasure,
Anger and peace,
Fear and safety,
Helpless and powerful.
Gradually allow visualization and accompanying sensations to fade as you bring your attention back to the center between the eyebrows.
Maintaining your attention at the center between the eyebrows,
Drop into the deepest level of relaxation.
Let your mind merge and melt into the presence and enter the sanctuary of silence.
Remain empty and free from all doing.
Now allow yourself to receive the following intention as I repeat it.
Feel every cell of your body receiving these words.
I do my best and let go.
I am more than my work.
I do my best and let go.
I am more than my work.
I do my best and I let go.
I am more.
Allow this intention to go to the deepest levels of recognition with no hesitation.
Know that your higher self recognizes,
Honors,
And accepts your intention.
Have faith and trust that it has been heard and is being acted upon by a higher power of the source that is within you.
There is no need for you to do anything.
Now bring your attention back to the center between the eyebrows and feel all the energies of your body from all meridians activated,
Purified,
And balanced.
All channels are open and the life force is flowing freely,
Healing the body and calming the mind.
Now open your heart and feel content.
Establish yourself firmly in faith and trust to receive the grace,
Protection,
And guidance of the higher self within you.
The more you go to your source,
The easier it will be to return there and the longer you can stay there.
Feel the presence of your own spiritual guides surrounding you and blessing you.
Accept their blessing and grace.
Embody it and spread it wherever you go.
You are the emissary of light and of love.
Carry it everywhere you go and to everyone that you meet.
If you have an area that you feel needs healing,
Either physical,
Mental,
Or emotional,
Allow this light and love to flow into that area now.
Now begin to become aware of the rising and falling of the breath.
Slowly feel yourself beginning to rise to the surface of awareness.
Sense the body resting on the floor,
The quality of the air as it touches the skin.
Now gradually you can move as if you are waking from a restful sleep.
Maybe bend your knees and pull them closer to your chest and begin to rock sideways gently.
Take your time.
You do not have to hurry.
Then if you'd like,
Turn on to your right side and curl into a fetal position and feel the safety,
The comfort,
And protection of the womb of existence.
Now once more,
I do my best and let go.
I am more than my work.
Every time you find yourself in reaction,
You are empowered to replace it with your intention.
Now you can gradually move and begin to sit up with your eyes closed.
Continue to stay deep in this inner experience.
Regardless of what you consciously recognize that has or has not changed,
Know that something deep within has shifted to connect you with your intention.
Becoming aware of the body,
Bring a deep sense of peace and contentment with you as you bring your attention back into the body.
Notice how relaxed the body is,
How soft the breath is,
How silent the mind is,
How quiet the heartbeat is.
Now be still and be grateful.
Know that you can easily enter here again and again.
Now you may gradually open your eyes and this concludes our yoga nidra.
