This is a talk on getting grounded tips for getting grounded.
Now what is grounding or groundedness?
You could simply say it's the connection to the earth and how that results in the ability to stay with the present moment whilst maintaining awareness of both the mind and the body.
Notice that body connection there,
Being grounded,
The earth,
The solidity.
So when we're grounded we can experience life as it's occurring in touch with our emotions,
A touch with the feelings in the body as well as what's happening in the mind.
So that's a full range of experience and that's really important.
Now a big advantage of being grounded is being able to complete tasks and achieve goals.
When you're grounded you're able to set your mind to something and see it through to completion because you can stay with the task.
My experience with meditation,
Yoga,
And healing practices over the years showed me as I kept going deeper into my personal development and transformation I saw how much more grounded I was,
How much easier it was for me to set my mind to a task and see it to fruition.
So these three tips I'm gonna give you hopefully will all contribute to you getting more grounded.
Number one,
Mindfulness.
Now this is the most obvious all-inclusive thing you could ever do to improve life in general and certainly grounding.
Mindfulness is about practicing simple moment-to-moment awareness.
You might think of this in a sense as meditation,
This idea of simply being with what is arising.
So simple,
So effective,
That's a big one and if you don't have a mindfulness or a basic meditation practice then really consider it.
Tip number two,
Spending time in nature.
Now nature has a certain rhythm,
It's slower than the way that humans move as we're well aware in today's age.
Nature moves at a much slower rhythm and being in nature,
Being immersed and submerged within natural environments,
Especially ones that are rich with life including plants,
Especially trees,
Helps us to synchronize with the slower rhythms and that grounds our biophysiology.
It grounds our the rhythms of the body and it helps us to be more connected to the body.
It helps us to be more in a natural flow state where our mind and body can be connected.
I had a really interesting experience in Sri Lanka on a meditation retreat many many years ago.
I had this calling to kind of learn to connect with trees,
As odd as that may sound,
And I put my hands on a tree never having felt the aliveness of a tree.
As I laid my hands on that tree I could feel the energy,
I could feel the aliveness of that tree move down through my body into the earth and it was grounding me and it was a very moving experience.
From the energy anatomy perspective,
In traditional Chinese medicine grounding has to do with the kidneys and your kidneys have meridian channels for those of you familiar with acupuncture that go out through the bottom of the feet into the earth.
They're the only meridian channels that do that.
When you spend time connected to the earth,
Especially with your shoes off,
That there is an increased electrical connection to the earth.
This has been proven in what's known as earthing therapy.
It improves sleep,
Reduces inflammation,
Increases blood flow,
And this is all simply by having shoes off connection to the earth.
What happens is your electrical system connects into the earth and there are many many health benefits.
The last perspective I'm going to give you is about healing work,
What I do the most.
If you want to get more grounded,
If you want to take more of your tasks to completion,
If you want to realize your fullest potential,
What I suggest is that you face your fears.
There are only two kinds of fear.
The one that follows you for your whole life and shadows you or the kind of fear that you turn,
Look at it in the face,
And say,
Fear I see you.
I encourage you to be bold and courageous and to face your fears and hopefully some of these tips on grounding will help you to get more in the flow of life connected to your body and experiencing it to its fullest.
