This is an active listening practice that includes "I Am" affirmations as well as thought prompts. It encourages the listener to recognize and accept emotions, align the mind with the "inner voice" or "gut instinct" and visualize your authentic self for a calmer and more confident day. Hi,

My name is Kirsten Agresta-Copley,

And I'm a composer of new age and meditative music,

As well as a professor at Vanderbilt University.

Thank you for joining me.

Start by making sure that you're in a comfortable position,

And take a deep breath.

Inhale and exhale deeply.

Let's begin with a few I am statements.

You can repeat after me if you'd like.

I am here now,

And I am present in this moment.

I understand that there are circumstances in my life and in the world that are out of my control.

I am here now in this moment,

And all is well.

I am lighting my own path and releasing any feeling of darkness.

I can be the one who sees me for who I am.

I see my emotions.

Take a few minutes now to recognize the emotions that are bubbling up inside you.

Truly look at them and see them without judgment.

It could sound like I feel angry,

And I accept that.

I feel lonely,

And I accept that.

I feel confused,

And I accept that.

I feel calm,

And I love that.

Breathe in light,

And exhale out.

Continue now for a few minutes on your own,

And listen to your own emotions and accept them.

It's time now to connect our emotions to our mind.

Let's think about the conditions or people that are making us stressed,

Concerned,

Worried.

State this worry in one sentence to yourself,

And then listen to your inner voice's response.

It can sound like this.

I'm worried about a loved one's health.

When I pause to listen,

I may hear an inner voice telling me that I'm doing everything I can for that loved one right now.

Or maybe I need to do a little better showing them care.

Now it's time to listen to our inner voice and our heart.

Inhale with light,

And exhale out,

Releasing everything.

Say what's on your mind,

And listen to your inner voice's response.

I'll give you a few minutes to yourself to do this.

Hopefully now that you've seen your emotions,

Your inner voice has released an energy that was holding it within,

And you have space to allow what's next for you.

Let's create a moment on how you'd like to start your day.

Who do you want to be for the people around you at work and at home?

Who do you want to be for yourself?

Let's not be concerned about how we're actually going to do it,

But rather how we're going to be.

Let's take a moment to visualize that person right now,

And embody the qualities that we value most.

I'll start out with a few I am affirmations,

And then I'll give you time to create your own.

You can repeat after me if you'd like.

I am ever evolving.

I am open to the perspective of others.

I am introspective and eager to learn more about my own needs.

I am trusting the journey.

I am finding comfort in my own skin.

I am willing to ask for help.

I'm okay with not having all the answers.

Let's take one last breath together.

Inhale deeply,

And exhale releasing everything.

Thank you for joining me today.

I'm Kirsten Agresta-Copley.

Be kind,

Be mindful,

And have a beautiful day.
