Sit comfortably.

Either allow your feet to rest flat on the floor or sit cross-legged.

Allow your hands to rest gently on your knees with palms facing up,

Or you can place them in your lap with one palm on top of the other.

Make sure your spine is erect,

The chin slightly down.

We'll begin by taking three deep inhalations.

As you inhale,

Allow the flow of oxygen to go all the way to the pit of your belly and expand.

As you inhale,

Imagine as though you're inhaling golden light,

And on the exhalation,

Black smoke.

Take a deep inhalation in,

Inhaling the golden light,

Allowing the belly to fully expand.

And as you slowly exhale,

Imagine the black smoke,

Removing all negativity,

And toxins.

Another deep inhalation in,

Inhaling the golden light.

And as you exhale again,

Allowing the black smoke to be removed from the body.

Finally,

One last deep inhalation in,

Allowing the belly to fully expand,

Inhaling the golden light.

And then slowly exhale,

Exhaling any negativity in the form of the black smoke.

If you've not yet done so,

Just gently close your eyes.

And imagine yourself as a monk or a nun.

See yourself wearing the robes of a monk or a nun.

Visualize yourself as though you're climbing up a huge mountain that takes about a day and a half to reach the top.

It's above the clouds.

And after about a day and a half's journey,

You reach your destination,

Which is your meditation cave.

And as you arrive,

You get the sense that you feel as though you're home.

This has been your place of meditation for many lifetimes.

As you enter the cave,

You can feel the warmth of the cave.

You find the lantern and you light it,

Smelling the incense from the previous times of being in the cave.

You have a routine when you are meditating in this cave.

You would wake up at 3am and meditate until 6.

You would then take a short break.

And then meditate from 8 to 11.

Again,

You would take a small break.

And then you would resume your meditations again at 3 until 6.

Eating a light supper,

You would then resume your meditation from 8 till 12.

You can feel the happiness within for being back at the cave.

And as you get settled in,

It's time to meditate.

As soon as you sit down,

Almost immediately you go deep into yourself.

You're extremely happy to take your attention from the outer world into the inner world.

Meditation happens very naturally for you in this cave.

The mind knows exactly what to do.

You inwardly seek blessings from all your masters and you set the intention to bless all beings.

You begin to do whatever meditation comes naturally for you.

Whether that's observing the breath,

Chanting mantras,

Witnessing your thoughts like passing clouds or just being consciousness.

Do whatever meditation feels natural.

Are you really here?

Either dreaming of being in a cave or are you in a cave dreaming of being here?

Allow there to be some uncertainty.

And in this way,

Hours pass to days,

Days pass to months that you're living in this cave.

Winter has come.

Little by little,

The snow starts to accumulate and fall.

Eventually there's enough snow that it blocks the entrance to the cave.

You off your oil lamp because you don't know how much oxygen you have and it is now completely dark.

You're not sure how you'll get out but your mind is calm.

It's unshakable.

How will you meditate if you know you might what will the quality of your meditation be like?

What will you rely on knowing there is no other way?

Practice like this.

Meditate with urgency.

Slowly now bringing your awareness back to your breath.

Take a slow,

Long,

Deep inhalation in,

Allowing the belly to fully expand.

And as you exhale,

Mentally say,

How wonderful.

Take another slow,

Long,

Deep inhalation in.

And then again as you exhale,

Mentally say,

How wonderful.

One last long,

Deep inhalation in.

And again as you exhale,

Mentally say,

How wonderful.

You can remain in this state for a few moments if you'd like.

Otherwise slowly open your eyes.

Namaste.

Wow ! I’ve never resided in such a presence of stillness and … quite simply life. I was moved by a new book I just purchased by Jay Shetty , Think like a Monk and came here right after to implement what I’ve just learned in the first chapter , into meditation. Thank you so much for being that light and guiding me to where I’ve always been all along. I felt familiar there , home. I will be there more often. Namaste
