
Sleep Seeks You
Inviting deep sleep to find you, as you prepare a space for sleep to dwell, through deep progressive muscle relaxation, so that when deep sleep does enter into the deeply relaxed space you have created for it, you can experience deeper healing and access deeper wisdom.

And so inviting you now to take a reclined posture,
Either lying down or halfway maybe or three quarters of the way between seated upright and fully reclining.
Because this relaxation is a powerful one.
Because of all nights,
You need this to invite deeper sleep,
To come to you.
And in doing so,
You can invite a deeper healing,
A more significant healing,
A more complete release and relaxation.
And we're going to begin,
As we always do,
With a progressive muscle relaxation throughout your whole body,
Inviting everywhere from the soles of your feet to the very top of your head and out both of your arms and throughout your body and even perhaps beyond your skin into all of consciousness to experience a deep and intense and healing relaxation and release.
And so inviting you now,
Beginning with the feet and just inviting the soles of your feet,
The arches,
The heels,
The balls of your feet and your toes,
And in through the tops of your feet and through your ankles to just release and relax and let go.
And I don't know which foot will release more quickly into deep relaxation,
But one you can notice.
And when the other one joins the first,
Breathing a deeper sigh of gratitude and relief,
Where they have just begun the journey into deeper relaxation and inviting that wonderful relaxation in through your ankles and calves and shins,
In whatever way it naturally does.
Maybe they move at the same rate up each leg or maybe one goes a little more quickly than the other.
Either way is fine,
Because you know that they will both eventually experience that wonderful release and relaxation.
And as your body becomes even more relaxed at its own rate and speed,
You don't have to seek sleep,
Because it's in the body that is allowed to move and stretch and maneuver in any way to make it even more comfortable,
That sleep finds that body.
And you can just do what you can to make sleep feel welcome.
And you're listening to this now,
And in doing so,
You are indeed inviting sleep to feel very welcome and to take up its healing powers in your body,
And inviting this relaxation in through your knees and your upper legs,
Your hamstrings and your quadriceps,
Large muscles that move and do so many things.
I'm inviting this relaxation in through your hips and pelvis and in through your torso.
And as you already know,
In your torso lies so many of your critical organs.
And as they're invited to release and relax with the lower part of your body,
The systems that need to move at a different rate and speed will now have the freedom and the flexibility to do that.
And isn't it wonderful that as you give your body the invitation to release and relax and let go,
That your body accepts this with gratitude and in doing so increases the sensation of deep relaxation.
And moving this sensation of relaxation up in through your chest and your upper back,
And maybe this relaxation has a temperature for you.
In some sense it is being warm,
In some sense it is cooling off.
And I don't know which way you experience relaxation and what temperatures are more relaxing for you.
And you can have them do this relaxation in any temperature that helps them the most.
And as the shoulders and upper back release,
Releasing the weight of the world,
Releasing the weight of obligations that aren't even yours,
Responsibilities that aren't even yours,
The energies of others releasing and relaxing and letting go.
And as you notice these burdens leaving you,
You may also notice a deeper relaxation in your upper arms and elbows and forearms.
And inviting this wonderful release and relaxation.
Because the more you relax,
The more you can heal,
And the more healing chemicals that your own body makes,
So that they won't be rejected,
Rather they'll be accepted as natural healing elements that you create on your own through this relaxation.
And in this relaxation they can go to tissues and fibers that need the deep healing.
And isn't it wonderful that your body can just create this on its own?
And you may notice your hands becoming maybe even numb,
Losing sensation,
Maybe having a sense of lightness or heaviness.
And I don't know which sensation you have that lets you know you're going into a deeper,
Deeper mode of relaxation.
And inviting this sensation moving in and through your neck muscles,
And in through your face,
Your jaw,
Your cheeks,
And in and around your eyes and ears.
And opening all the channels so that this wonderful relaxation and sensation can radiate through and into all of the muscles of your face and head,
And even into your brain.
And as you invite this to go at whatever rate and speed feels right for this part,
The body senses that as deep respect and is grateful and then goes even deeper.
And imagining now you're at the top of a set of stairs and the stairs lead to a healing garden.
And in this garden you've received great healing before,
And so have many before you,
And many who will come after you have achieved deep healing in this garden at the bottom of the stairs.
And there are ten stairs and we'll be descending slowly one at a time.
And with each step down,
Just inviting you to relax just 10% more.
With each step,
Relaxing 10% more.
And beginning now,

9,
8,
7,
6,
5,
Halfway down,
4,
3,
2,
And 1.
You're in the healing garden at long last and the healing plants that you know,
However you know,
Perhaps it's from stories from your ancestral traditions,
Spiritual traditions,
Family traditions,
Or maybe in communities,
Healing communities that you're a part of,
Where you share this knowledge with each other.
All of these healing plants are all in and around you.
And just the sight of them alone imparts healing.
And as you step in through the arch that leads to the center of this garden,
In the center of this garden you'll sense a fountain.
And you'll hear the water even from here.
And inviting in sounds and soothing and healing.
And so you can walk over to that.
And maybe run your hands under the dripping water.
And noticing even the contact of the dripping water onto your skin,
The sound,
And just the sights.
It's almost like the trifecta of healing.
And you invite that healing into and through your body.
And maybe even on a sense of somewhere even deeper.
There may be a place within that needs a deeper healing.
And you can invite this in.
And staying in the sensation of this deep and profound healing.
You may notice you become even more relaxed and even have a sense of obtaining an inner wisdom through this deep,
Calm.
Releasing the cares of the world as you allow this space to care for you.
And as you sense the inner wisdom,
You may also sense that sleep also is coming.
It's on its way to you and is now finding you here.
And with the sleep,
You may recognize a certain wisdom.
And it may be through that sleep that you can attain that wisdom.
And I don't know if it comes in dreams or in sensations or in thoughts of clarity that are just allowed to be when all of the other chaos is released.
I'm just inviting you now to embrace the sleep that is seeking you.
And you may notice that the sleep is even closer now.
The sleep is on its way to you.
And respecting the sleep invites the sleep to approach you at its own pace.
And respecting the wisdom invites it to come to you at its own pace.
And perhaps through the wisdom you may find sleep and maybe perhaps through the sleep you may find wisdom.
Or you may find both at the same time.
I'm inviting you to just experience the clarity.
Be it clarity of vision,
Clarity of sounds,
Or clarity of deep knowing.
