In this guided meditation, we are exploring the experience of Loving Patience. Often, our experience of other people being patient with another is enough to evoke a healing response in ourselves. We explore this, as well as your being patient with another, and to become aware of times when you have been patient with yourself. Noting all of these times can increase trust and confidence in ourselves and enliven our healing within.

Welcome to February the 6th.

And today's meditation is going to be on loving patience.

And in asking a number of people the characteristics that they really appreciated in another,

One consistent characteristic returned numerous times.

And this was the concept of experiencing another person's patience.

And in this meditation,

I invite you to be patient with yourself.

And many times it can be a difficult experience to be patient with ourselves.

And I invite you to consider what that experience could be like.

Because you may have memories of other people demonstrating patience with other people.

Or maybe other people demonstrating a patience towards you.

And perhaps even your experience of your patience towards someone else.

And I'm not sure which one or how many of these you may blend together in your own experience of loving patience.

And you can be wherever you are either seated or lying down.

And in whatever position you are,

If you can find a spot on the wall or the ceiling,

Or maybe even the floor.

Or if it's dark in the room,

And there is no light,

You can allow your focus to be anywhere in the dark.

And as you have discovered your place to focus,

You may begin to notice a gentle halo around that spot where the object may come in and out of focus.

And as it goes out of focus,

Perhaps the environment around it becomes more in focus.

And as the object becomes more in focus,

The environment around dissolves and melts in your field of vision.

And perhaps as you continue to focus on this one spot,

Or the spot in the darkness,

You may notice textures or differences in that one spot.

And as you already know,

There is no right way or wrong way to do this.

There is your way.

And you can be even more patient with yourself in this process.

And you can be patient because you love patience.

That wonderful experience that you may have as you experience patience and focusing on this spot and being patient with yourself.

You may notice that you begin to blink.

And with every blink your eyes close.

And when they close,

They rest.

And when they rest,

You may rest.

Perhaps your eyes become even more relaxed or tired and they want to rest.

And so inviting your eyelids to close and bringing that focus within.

Focusing on loving patience.

And in a moment,

I'll be counting down from 10 to one.

And with every number descending from 10 to one,

I invite you to go just 10% deeper into a deeper relaxation.

And so beginning 10,

9,

8,

7,

6,

7.

6,

5,

4,

3,

2,

1.

2,

And 1.

Again deeper relaxed.

And inviting all of your body to stay in this relaxed state as you continue to explore deeper within with a mixture of both curiosity and patience.

Noting that this blend actually invites a deeper sense of safety.

This blend of curiosity and patience.

Because of its elements of gentle wonder,

Invite you into a space that you can appreciate.

Your patience within.

And your patience has been patient with you.

And for many people,

They know to the patience looks a lot like confidence.

Where there is no rush.

And yet there is an assuredness about this trust and patience and confidence.

Because as you already know,

Patience has within a measure of trust,

A measure of confidence.

And resting in these invites both of these qualities of trust and confidence that are part and parcel of patience along with other characteristics.

To grow deeply within you and take root.

And in some traditions,

Patience has been deemed a fruit of the spirit.

And as you already know with fruit,

That when it ripens and drops from that which it was created,

The fruit itself gives itself to the seeds within.

And it prevents growing even more of that same fruit,

Fruit bearing fruit to where it grows.

And that fruit drops and creates more fruit and it just keeps going in trust and confidence.

And in the patience,

The time does what time does in every process.

Having this fruit of loving patience may end up in a wonderful,

Wild orchard or grove or vineyard of patience,

Lush and full,

Abundant with patience,

Loving patience.

Because that is the true patience and inviting you to consider this growth of patience within and among you and all around and sharing this abundant patience with others so that they can grow this within themselves and inviting you into an even deeper state of relaxation and sleep knowing that this patience continues to grow and propagate and become even more abundant this loving patience.

Thank you.
