Gently closing the eyes and taking a few deep breaths here,
Settling into the space,
Continuing to breathe as you relax into your body.
Now gradually turning your attention inward,
Away from the external surroundings,
And into your physical form.
Checking in with yourself right here,
Noticing what is present for you right now.
Maybe certain emotions that have emerged from your day.
Noticing any physical sensations that are here.
Observing yourself from a neutral space of curiosity.
Now bringing your attention deeply inward,
All the way to the center of your body.
Noticing the ripple effect that each breath has along your physical and energetic form.
Tuning into your heartbeat,
Maybe placing a hand over your heart,
And feeling the gratitude for your heart that it beats all on its own,
Giving you life.
Grounding into the body brings us back to our innate sense of creativity.
We forget the beautiful gift of creation that we all have.
Creating art,
Creating ideas,
Creating meaning,
And creating life itself.
So beginning to visualize yourself about to start a piece of artwork.
Maybe you call upon a memory,
Or you're visualizing an entirely new moment.
Notice the materials you have in front of you.
Some pens,
Pencils,
Crayons,
Whatever you like to use,
And a blank canvas.
Taking a minute to visualize the art that you are wanting to create.
You can see it so clearly,
The texture,
The color,
The composition,
How it makes you feel.
So feeling clear and sure of yourself,
You pick up your paintbrush or pencil and begin creating.
Continuing to breathe here,
Staying present with the senses as you paint or draw your art.
A few minutes goes by as you take a step back from your piece.
You realize that it is nothing at all like you had planned.
The colors are not what you picked.
Your brush strokes are sloppier than intended.
Your arm maybe smudged the canvas on accident.
The piece is suddenly failing to meet the expectations you had for it.
Now tuning into your emotional body.
Are there any emotions that are present?
Maybe fear,
Discomfort,
Anger,
Annoyance.
Is there any constriction in your physical body?
Tension in the shoulders,
Furrowing of the brow.
Just allowing yourself to sit in the space of shattering imperfection.
Letting the emotions and feelings move through you,
Knowing that everything is welcome.
As you invite each emotion,
Feeling,
Thought,
And sensation to be here,
Notice the space in between.
The okayness of being imperfect.
This is a natural cycle of life.
As humans,
We create mental formulations that become the standards we hold ourselves to.
In this process,
We forget the beauty of change.
We forget the wisdom that lies within imperfection.
Letting go of perfection allows you to create for the very purpose of creation.
Letting go of control creates more space to be exactly as you are and welcome in new parts of yourself that you have never seen before.
With this sense of acceptance,
I invite you to revisualize your artwork that had failed to meet your expectations.
How can you meet this canvas with a new perspective?
Do you see something beautiful that you didn't notice before?
Is there a greater sense of ease within your being to let go of trying to control your wild and mysterious creativity?
When we break free of the need to be perfect,
We have the opportunity to express ourselves in a new and unique way.
When we make space between our emotions and ourselves,
We can step into a space of contentment,
Trusting that your imperfection leads to your creative freedom.
I invite you to set the intention to trust yourself,
To create with authenticity and curiosity with everything you do.
So returning your attention to the breath,
Letting it anchor you back in this present moment and coming back to your physical body.
Taking two or three deep breaths at your own pace,
Waking up the senses again before opening your eyes.
