Comfy Inner Sanctuary - Human Design Sacral Yoga Nidra
by Kayla Mason
This Yoga Nidra is part of a series of meditations that focus on releasing the limiting beliefs built up in each Human Design energy center. This meditation is focused around the Sacral Center and it's connection to our innate humanity, our connection to our bodies, and making our comfort and state of being a priority. In this specific Yoga Nidra, you will get super comfy, create a Sankalpa, do a body scan and nirodha (backwards counting), do some rapid visuals, and then be guided to create an inner sanctuary for yourself, as we work to decondition the Sacral Center. I will guide you back to wakefulness at the end of this meditation, and end with a seated chant of Om...Namaste <3

As you settle into today's nidra nest,
Really let yourself enjoy getting comfortable.
Every time you move your body or make an adjustment,
Feel the profound way that it affects your being.
Notice how each time you shift into a more comfortable position,
You have the opportunity to enjoy the human experience of comfort.
Comfort is something that we all covet,
And yet so often we do not prioritize our own comfort.
We leave the AC on when we're cold because we worry about others getting too warm.
We sit at a desk,
Letting our lower backs get more and more stagnant and achy because we have work to get done.
We let others stay in our space and cater to their needs when what we really need is some time alone.
Time to reflect.
Time to recalibrate.
Time to be a human being.
Take a moment now to remind yourself that you are,
In fact,
A human being.
Not a human doing.
All of the things that we do throughout the day are separate from our innate humanity.
This concept of comfort,
Of enjoying creature comforts,
Requires us to surrender to the state of being.
Comfort only arrives when we stop doing and allow ourselves to simply be.
So notice now if you could be even 5% more comfortable.
Grab a blanket and really enjoy getting cozy underneath it.
Or put a pillow under the knees and enjoy the feel of landing on a cloud,
Settling into comfort,
Being.
Allow your hands to land wherever they feel most weightless.
And let your feet completely relax outward.
Once you have found your most indulgent space of comfort,
Take a moment to commit yourself to being during this practice.
When you allow your focus to be on continuing to be rather than do,
You will be present with yourself throughout.
You'll stay awake if you are meant to,
And will know innately if you need to move your body mindfully at any point.
Commit your human body and mind to being.
Now allow your awareness to settle on your sense of hearing.
Allow sounds to land on your ears as if each sound is a butterfly landing on a flower.
Allowing the sound to come to you rather than reaching for it.
Like so many things in nature,
When we allow ourselves to be receptive and to wait for things to come to us,
We are more likely to receive what is meant for us.
Like the still flower waiting for the butterfly to help it pollinate,
We too can be receptive to the world and opportunities around us.
When we push too hard,
We lose all sense of being.
So allow your ears to be receptive to sound.
And as each sound enters your ears,
Allow yourself to jump to another sound.
Jumping from sound to sound to sound.
Letting the layers of sound land on your ears one by one by one.
Then shift your focus to the sounds you can hear inside your own body.
Notice the sound of comfort.
Can you hear your breath?
Your heartbeat?
Your organs settling?
And again let your ears be receptive and jump from sound to sound to sound.
Now notice if there is any part of your body that is still holding some tension in this space of comfort and awareness.
Let this space of tension become the focal point of your attention.
And for a moment,
Just observe.
What is the tension like?
Is it physical,
Emotional,
Or maybe spiritual?
How does this tension manifest?
What can you tell about it just from observing?
Then allow your consciousness to enter into this space of tension as though you are going to clean out a cluttered space.
As you step into this space,
Notice what's here.
Are you in a real place or a vortex of spiritual energy?
Are you indoors or out?
Again just observe your surroundings.
No need to change anything just yet.
Simply be.
As you explore this space of tension,
Notice if there are any emotions,
Beliefs,
Or intuitive knowings that come to you here.
Allow the most prevalent thing to bubble up to the surface of your mind and then take a moment to acknowledge its relevance to you and your life.
Again from an observer's perspective.
Now let this realization begin to take shape as a limiting belief.
And hear the words of this belief inside your mind.
Be receptive to this belief.
You are simply a being with a belief.
There is no judgment here.
And then let your mind open up to a space of new possibilities.
Let yourself venture outside of the box and notice what your ideal version of this belief would be.
If you were not beholden to societal norms,
To the expectations of yourself or others,
And could act from a place of believing in the magic of anything being possible,
What would you choose to believe instead?
What belief makes you feel the comfort of feeling at home within your being?
Now allow this belief to become your Sankalpa.
Craft your Sankalpa to be a positive,
Present tense statement that expresses an intention that will always be true.
For example,
I am my own home.
Or I thrive with what I receive.
Take a moment to create your Sankalpa.
And when you have your Sankalpa,
Repeat it three times in your mind.
And then let it go,
Knowing that this Sankalpa will be here for you when you need it.
There's no need to grasp or reach for it.
Simply let it be and trust that you will connect to it again if and when you are meant to.
Now let your attention fall onto your right hand.
More specifically,
Your right hand thumb.
Imagine there is a steady stream of soothing,
Warm,
Golden oil covering and anointing your right hand thumb.
Feel the soothing warmth of this golden oil move to your right pointer finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Pinky finger,
The back of the right hand,
Palm of the right hand.
Feeling the warm golden oil on the whole right hand at once.
On the right wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Underarm,
Right side ribs,
Waist,
Hip.
Feeling the warm golden oil covering the top of your right thigh,
Knee,
Shin,
Ankle,
The top of your right foot,
Sole of your right foot,
Right big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
And pinky toe.
Feeling the whole right foot covered with warm golden oil.
Feeling the whole right side all at once,
The warmth of this soothing oil on the whole right side all at once,
And then allowing your attention to move to your left hand.
More specifically,
Your left hand thumb.
Feeling the warm oil anointing your left hand thumb,
Pointer finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
And pinky finger.
Feeling the warmth of the golden oil on the back of your left hand,
Palm of the hand.
Feeling the whole left hand covered in warm oil all at once,
And the left wrist,
Lower arm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Underarm,
Left side ribcage,
Waist,
Hip,
Right big toe,
Hip.
Feeling the warm oil on the top of the left thigh,
Left knee,
Shin,
Ankle,
The top of the left foot,
The sole of the left foot.
Feeling this warm golden oil on the left big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
And pinky toe.
Feeling the whole left foot as one.
Feeling the warm golden oil on your whole left side body all at once,
The left side body all at once,
The left side body as one.
And move your attention to the back of the body,
Noticing the warmth of that golden oil on your right heel,
Left heel,
Both heels together,
Right calf,
Left calf,
Both calves together,
The backs of both knees at once,
The back of the right thigh,
The back of the left thigh,
Both thighs at once,
The right buttock,
Left buttock,
And the whole buttocks as one.
Feeling the sacrum and the spine from the tip of the tailbone to the brainstem.
Feeling this warm golden oil dripping down your whole spine.
Then feel it radiating to the lower back,
Middle back,
And upper back.
Feeling the warm oil on the back of your neck,
The back of your scalp,
Crown of the head,
The right ear,
Left ear,
And both ears together.
Feeling this warm golden oil dripping onto your forehead,
Your right eyebrow,
Left eyebrow,
Both eyebrows together.
Your right eye socket,
Left eye socket,
And both eye sockets together.
The third eye between the brows,
The right eyeball,
The left eyeball,
And all three eyes together.
The bridge of the nose,
Right side nostril,
Left side nostril,
Both nostrils,
The right cheek,
Left cheek,
Both cheeks together,
The upper lip,
Lower lip,
And both lips as one.
The chin,
Right side jawbone,
Left side jawbone,
And the whole face as one.
Feeling the warm golden oil on the whole face at once.
Then feeling the oil drip down your chin to cover your throat,
Your right collarbone,
Left collarbone,
And the space between the collarbones,
The sternum,
The heart center.
Feeling this warm oil covering your upper belly,
Solar plexus,
Moving down to your belly button,
Lower belly,
Sacral center,
Covering your pelvis and your pelvic floor with smooth,
Warm,
Golden oil.
Then feel the oil covering your entire body,
Radiating outward from your torso to cover your arms,
Legs,
Head,
Your entire body all at once,
Your whole body all at once,
Your whole body all at once.
And then allow your awareness to settle on your breath like the butterfly landing on delicate flower petals.
Just watch as it goes in and out,
The observer of your breath.
And begin to count backwards with the breath,
Starting from the number 33 in this way.
Inhale 33,
Exhale 33.
Inhale 32,
Exhale 32.
Continue in this way until you reach zero,
And then start back at 33 until you hear the sound of my voice once more.
If you lose count,
Simply start back at 33 and continue counting back.
Allow yourself to simply be here,
To be receptive to the sound of my voice re-entering and let the tension of anticipation fall away like water through your fingers.
Now allow the count to fall away as easily as it began,
And let your mind stay present as I say a list of items.
As each item lands in your mind,
Be receptive and allow it to take you on a journey.
Then as I speak the next item,
Allow the last to fall away effortlessly,
Embarking on a new thought journey with the new item.
Stepping into a warm bath.
The smell of lavender.
An orange pillow.
Feeling fingertips on your skin.
The taste of dark chocolate.
King Louis XIV.
Dancing at a salsa club.
The eyes of someone you care for deeply.
Honey dripping from a spoon into a cup of tea.
A purple baboon grooming her pink baby.
Arriving home after a long day.
Allow yourself to arrive once more to the place in your body where you previously found tension.
To enter again into that part of you which needs decluttering.
Allow this to be a gentle arrival,
Still observing this space and being totally receptive to whatever you see here.
Notice if it's the same as it was before,
Or if anything has changed.
Is this a real place or an imaginary one?
Look around and let your surroundings take shape around you.
Notice the colors,
Shapes,
Objects,
And vibe in the space.
Allow yourself to arrive fully to this inner world.
Notice what's here.
How does it feel to be in this space?
Suddenly you realize that you have arrived in your sacral center.
This space of safety,
Home,
Sensuality,
And life.
Look around the room again with this in mind.
What does this space say about how you come home to yourself?
Begin to allow yourself to start nesting here.
As if you are preparing for the birth of the next version of yourself.
Look around the room and notice what things you want to change in preparation for the arrival of this next version of you.
Who is this new you?
What does the new you prioritize?
Let the answer come to you.
What can you change in this space to make it more inviting for this new version of you?
This version of you that trusts your intuition.
This version of you who believes there is enough success to go around.
Who loves themselves unconditionally.
This version of you who believes that your Sankalpa is the highest truth.
Begin to prep the space for your own arrival and take the utmost care to do the things that will bring you the most joy.
That will make you feel the most alive.
There are no rules or limitations.
This is your safe space.
Your inner home.
Enjoy this process and let yourself get creative.
As you start putting the final touches on your safe space,
You find a plaque with a quote written on it.
The quote is your Sankalpa.
You smile and put it on display,
Knowing in your soul that this is the truth.
Finish the final flourish on your space and then take a step back and admire your handiwork.
Look at this beautiful safe space that you've created.
Congratulate yourself on a job well done.
As you enjoy this accomplishment,
You realize that even though you created this space for a future version of yourself,
This space is actually exactly what you need right now.
And you realize that the new you has already arrived.
You've been them all along.
With this knowledge,
You step into your space and begin to really enjoy it.
Let yourself relish in this space that was curated specifically for your joy and sense of comfort.
Your sense of home.
Now take a few more moments here and then prepare yourself to leave the space for now,
Knowing that this safe space is somewhere you can revisit at any time in any meditation.
Know that this is simply goodbye for now.
Lay down in your space and close your eyes,
Feeling yourself transport back to your physical body where you are right now.
Remember where your body currently lies in physical space and begin to feel into the points of contact between the back of the body and the surface below.
Remember what the room that you're in looks like.
Remember how far away from the walls and the ceiling you currently are.
And then begin to feel into your physical form.
Feeling the sensations in your hands and feet.
Maybe bringing some movement to your body,
Allowing your breath to deepen,
Wiggling fingers and toes.
Just letting your body slowly wake up,
Enjoying the comfort of moving.
Give yourself a stretch,
Maybe bringing your arms up overhead.
And then when you're ready,
Turn onto your favorite side and settle for a moment in the fetal position,
Just allowing your body to recalibrate.
And then when you feel ready,
Slowly use your hands to push yourself up to a seated position.
You can keep your eyes closed and allow your spine to straighten.
And we'll finish out the practice with the hands at heart center in prayer and do one long Aum together.
Inhale and exhale.
And inhale for Aum.
Bring your prayer to your forehead and bow down to yourself in gratitude for showing up here today and for being present and open.
Namaste.
