Okay,
Welcome back to the Spiritual Recalibration Series.
Thank you for embarking on this series and opening yourself to a new way of being.
My name is David,
And this is Session 16,
Here to Heal.
Find a comfortable seat in a space where you can allow yourself 20 minutes or so,
Undistracted,
To focus just on you.
A quick reminder,
To get the most out of this series,
Please be sure you've listened to the Welcome Session,
Session Zero.
Here we go.
So I think the easiest,
As I was thinking about healing,
Which is a,
You know,
I guess a pretty,
Could be a pretty big topic,
A pretty big topic,
I thought the easiest way to talk about it and keep it somewhat brief would be to offer just a personal healing story.
And that is that I used to have acid reflux,
Which is something I think you might be able to relate to,
Or lots of people can certainly relate to.
If you don't have it yourself,
Or you've had it in the past,
You know,
Somebody who has it,
Or you've seen a thousand commercials on TV for various products that can fix that for us.
But it started when I was an adolescent,
I didn't know I was having it,
Apparently.
And then all into college,
And when I was in my early 20s,
I was having trouble swallowing.
As where I was just like,
It was just,
It was a thing.
And I actually,
I actually ended up having to have the Heimlich maneuver twice.
So I went and had,
So I went to the doctor,
You know,
After a while and had the,
You know,
The swallow studies.
Long story short,
I ended up having,
They did something to open up,
I had scar tissue,
They spread some things out there,
And then I was on a medicine.
So and I was on a medicine of some kind to put that stuff down,
That acid down,
Because I guess the acid,
Right,
Was causing that scar tissue for the better part of 20 years.
So what happened was,
Later on,
At some point,
I decided that I had gotten into wellness and health and a bit into meditation and yoga as well.
And at some point,
I decided that that medicine,
That prescription drug that I was on no longer kind of fit with my view of how things go.
So I sought out a naturopathic doctor.
And what ended up happening over the course of the year,
I thought I was there to fix this thing,
To get off this medicine that didn't jive with me.
What I was there to do,
And what he helped me do was heal.
At some point in there,
So I mean,
It involved,
You know,
Some natural supplements and,
You know,
Some,
You know,
So I got some,
I sought out some guidance for this.
I didn't just,
I had tried to stop taking the medicine a couple different times.
And as soon as I did,
It was twice as bad,
Twice as bad as it ever was,
Because that's how the body reacts.
All of a sudden it starts doing its normal thing.
Bottom line is the body knows how to heal.
Our bodies are designed to heal.
Our bodies can heal.
And this did heal.
Eventually I stopped taking the medicine,
Haven't had a symptom since.
And so what had to happen throughout that,
And it wasn't just through,
You know,
Just through some supplements,
Some herbs that I was taking,
I mean,
That was all part of it,
But it was a whole healing process that I now know I allowed to happen.
So what happened through that with some help was I got out of the way to allow the body,
Which knows how to heal,
To heal.
So kind of the question is,
And so this is a question I've been asking this week,
And I've asked it before,
And this is a question you can ask,
Because oftentimes we don't even know what it is within us that wants to heal.
We're just,
We're just,
We're just here and are doing our thing.
And so we can ask,
I wonder,
I wonder what I can allow to heal today.
You wake up in the morning,
At some point,
You're brushing your teeth and in your mind,
You think,
I wonder what I can allow to heal today.
Because if the body knows how to heal,
The body doesn't need to be fixed.
Yeah.
I mean,
Certainly some sort of traumatic thing happens,
I feel so blessed that we have doctors and scientists who can,
You know,
Fix those things,
But with something like this,
If the body knows how to heal these physical symptoms,
Then we also know how to heal the other stuff,
The stuff on the inside.
And we oftentimes don't know where we are blocked,
Where,
What needs to heal from whatever,
Whatever we've experienced in our life and whatever we've maybe inherited or adopted that wants to be healed.
It's quite possible that a big part of why we're here for the time that we're here is to heal.
So can we welcome,
Can we welcome the opportunity?
Can we go through what it is?
Because we really not,
We're kind of under the impression that at least I was,
And I have been,
And I still do sometimes that basically things should be pleasant all the time.
And comfortable.
So the idea that things that are uncomfortable,
We either push away or try and fix right away.
But if a big part of why we're here is to heal,
Then can we allow ourselves to go through that and heal through that?
Yeah.
So that's a little,
Just a little bit on healing.
Maybe I went on a bit too long on that personal story,
But maybe hopefully that was a little bit helpful.
All right.
So let's do just a short little meditation on that,
And then I'll go from there.
So get yourself situated again,
Nice and comfortable sitting with a nice upright spine,
Neck nice and long over your shoulders.
Don't stretch or exert yourself in any way,
But nice and long,
Chin just slightly tucked.
Hands placed gently on the thighs at the juncture of thighs and abdomen.
Eyes closed gently,
Eyes soft behind the eyelids.
Take a normal breath in and out through the nose.
Allow it to come naturally.
Begin to notice your breath,
Just a bit of concentration here.
Always remembering that in any sort of practice,
Beginning with the relaxation,
Focusing with the concentration,
And then allowing time for expansion to be there.
So let's concentrate.
Concentrate on the breath.
See if you can find it,
See if you can locate the spot in your nostrils where you can feel the air passing.
Cool on the inhale and warm on the exhale.
The mind will naturally wander off to various thoughts.
That's what the mind does,
And that's okay.
When you notice,
Come back to your breath.
Use your breath.
If it helps,
Become curious about your breath,
Become grateful for your breath.
These can help with concentrating on it.
And now for just a minute or two,
Begin an I am peace mantra.
When you notice yourself,
Inhale,
Say in your mind,
I am.
And when you notice yourself,
Exhale,
Say in your mind,
Peace.
I am on the inhale,
Peace on the exhale.
Good.
Come off of the thought,
Come back to breath and mantra.
I am peace mantra.
As you practice a concentration technique like this,
It's natural for the breath to eventually begin to slow down.
As the breath slows down,
The mind is given permission to slow down.
As the mind slows down and grows quiet,
The breath can grow quiet,
Sometimes very quiet.
So quiet that you can barely even notice it,
But do notice it.
I am on the inhale,
Peace on the exhale.
Just another few moments.
Now take an intentional inhale through your nose and an exhale through your mouth.
You can let the breath go,
You don't need to watch it anymore.
You don't need to say your mantra anymore.
Draw your gaze upward gently to the point between your eyebrows and allow yourself to see there,
Beautiful,
Bright white light,
Bright and soft.
It's a healing light,
The light of healing.
This light is reflected from the light in your heart,
Your chest.
Allow this light to be one,
Allow this light to begin at the top of your head,
Come down over your face and your neck,
Your shoulders and your arms,
Your chest and your belly,
Your hips and your legs,
Over your feet and toes,
And allow it within until you are completely surrounded with this beautiful healing light that it is within you and it is here to heal anything and everything gently that wants to be healed.
Allow yourself a gentle smile,
A smile of trust,
Of gratitude,
Of knowing.
Now let the visual of the light go,
But stay here for just another moment or two in this feeling of healing,
Of ease,
Trust,
Of gratitude,
Of knowing,
Good.
Now prepare to come back to the room or the space where you are,
Take a normal breath in and out,
And when you're ready,
You can flutter open your eyelids or stay for as long as you like.
