Transcript

We are reading out of this book called The Radiant Sutras,

Which is a beautiful translation of the Vijnana by Rava Tantra by Lauren Roche.

It's not only a translation,

It's an interpretation.

Because very often the literal translation of the Sanskrit is very hard to wrap our heads around.

I've been reading a lot of Osho lately,

And I haven't read Osho in so long.

And I first discovered him probably 25 years ago when I was still living on the farm,

Married,

Kids at my feet,

You know,

Animals everywhere.

And he was like just this light for me.

One of the things I always loved about Osho is he seemed to be able to take things that were always very confusing to me about religion and make them.

.

.

What he said just always rang true.

I guess that's the easiest way to say it.

I'm reading about Buddhism right now and he was talking about how many of the stories from the big religions in the world,

There are historical facts within them.

But at some point in the story,

The story becomes a mythology and it becomes symbolic.

Because the symbology of it is actually the message.

That's actually what lives on in our hearts.

That's what actually changes us.

That's what.

.

.

It's kind of like going to school and you can memorize the dates of things.

You can memorize what happened on this date and then that date and whatever.

But when you understand the story and the meaning of what was happening,

That's when we get to actually make changes in our lives today.

That's where suddenly we relate to what's going on.

And all of a sudden we start acting differently in our relationships.

And we start treating our souls differently in our bodies.

And we see the world a little bit differently in a very practical way.

So it's kind of ironic that it isn't through practical teaching that we have practical results.

It's through symbolic teaching that we're able.

.

.

That it's almost like our soul relates to symbology.

And then we can make practical change.

And this is what Lauren Roche has done with the Radiant Sutras.

He's taken this beautiful ancient Sanskrit text and put it into a symbol.

.

.

Symbolic?

Sometimes more complication is not what's needed.

And he puts it in a symbolic language so that our soul can understand it.

So then that picture can continue with us all day long.

And we can be different.

So in today's class,

We're going to read number 77,

Sutra 77.

If you have the book.

If you don't have the book,

Awesome.

I highly recommend it.

It is my favorite book in the journey of Tantra.

So what we're going to do is I'm going to read the Sutra.

We're going to have a discussion about it.

And at the end,

We're going to do a meditation.

And for everybody who's new,

All of the classes up until this one,

Up until 77,

Have been recorded.

Most of them are here on Insight Timer.

And we have a playlist as well,

That has them all in it.

And it's just called Radiant Sutras.

But for now,

Whether you have the book or not,

Let's just close our eyes.

And let's just breathe deeply together.

Connecting with that eternal self.

Here we go.

The heart of the universe pulses in all hearts.

There is one who is the life in all forms.

There is one who is joyful in simply existing in all bodies,

As all bodies.

Explore the life that is the life of your present form.

One day,

You will discover it is not different from the life of the secret one.

And your heart will sing triumphant songs of being at home everywhere.

What rises for you when you hear that?

Thoughts,

Emotions,

So calming.

Phrases,

Oneness,

Bliss,

Triumph.

I'm going to read it again for Griffin.

Love,

Being at home everywhere.

I got lost for the second part because I got caught on the definition of Brahman at the start.

The essence of Tantra.

Safety and carrying home with me everywhere I go.

The heart will sing.

Acceptance,

Openness.

Felt deep,

I have chills.

I thought of those for whom the light is not enough.

Does not resonate for them or choose to remain disconnected.

It made me a bit sad,

Actually.

Being one.

Non-separation.

This is the one I've been waiting for.

Completeness.

Tears came when you said feeling of being at home everywhere.

Joyful and simply existing.

Being at home everywhere is helpful.

Total bliss being at one with everything always.

Explore,

Find that you are one.

Funny because the book I mentioned above,

My first story had a similar message of all connected like the web of a spider.

Knowing we are all connected and interwoven.

Never really alone.

God is in me.

So you know what's amazing about all of your comments?

Is there's actually nothing to add.

Because everyone got it.

And I mean,

You guys know I am going to add stuff.

Because I can't help it.

But I'm going to talk about why it's important.

It's interesting and powerful.

All of your guys comments.

I couldn't have realized this message if I hadn't experienced this connection to exactly.

And that in this time and all other time,

We are one.

That there is no other.

So in Tantra,

There are two main ways or paths or methods of coming to realization.

One is called Shaktopaya.

One is called Shaktopaya.

And Shaktopaya is all of the methods that we use that embrace Shakti energy.

And we've talked before about in the Tantric philosophy,

Specifically ones like Kashmir Shaivism and things like that.

The creation story is that there was Shakti Shiva,

Which was oneness.

Not Shakti and Shiva.

Shakti Shiva.

Oneness.

Or Shiva-Shakti.

Doesn't really matter.

In order to create duality,

They separated.

Shiva remained pure consciousness.

And Shakti became physical reality.

All of us have both Shiva and Shakti within us.

All of us experience the world.

Everything we experience here in the world.

Physically,

Emotionally,

Mentally,

Interrelationships,

Pain,

Truth,

Everything.

Joy is all Shakti.

This is manifest reality.

Within this manifest reality,

We also are pure Shiva.

We also are divine consciousness.

In this creation story,

You can imagine us experiencing as Shiva-Shakti.

Total union.

Oneness.

Bliss.

As we,

And I'm going to say descend,

But this doesn't mean it's a negative.

As we descend into duality,

That Shiva and Shakti become further and further apart.

And the more we immerse ourselves in Shakti,

The more we forget that we are oneness.

And this is by design.

This isn't a negative thing.

This isn't a negative thing.

This is the creation of maya.

This is the definition of our experience here.

This is the definition of me being here and all of you wonderful 148 people all over the world being there.

It is our separate consciousness that allow us to be separate in individual beings.

It's a good thing.

It's not even,

It's not a good thing.

It is duality.

But very often what happens is we forget about Shiva.

We forget about,

And not some Shiva out there,

Not some blue god.

But we forget about the fact that we are also divine consciousness.

We get so wrapped up in our lives.

We get so wrapped up in this experience of maya.

We believe that it is the only reality.

Now our Shakti existence,

Our life here in maya is reality.

Tantra does not say that this isn't reality.

It's one of the things that sets it apart from a lot of the eastern religions.

It is reality,

But so is our divine consciousness.

Both are our reality.

So everyone we love here in those relationships,

Those are true.

Everything we struggle with,

This is true.

But what if we experienced all of what our reality is and somehow we remembered that we are divine consciousness.

And all of those people that we love,

We are actually also those people.

And those trees that we sit underneath,

We are actually those trees.

That the energy that flows through us is also in the birds.

That we are all actually the same.

We are all actually the same.

When I was reading this book this morning by Osho about Buddhism and he was talking about Siddhartha Gautama's awakening,

Becoming Buddha energy.

And one of the things he realized after much suffering and difficulty when he sat under this tree,

The famous tree,

And he opened his eyes and he realized that there wasn't a God separate from him.

He realized that everything he saw was God.

That everything was godliness.

And this was his great awakening.

This is why separation was impossible.

How can you be separate from everything that is also you?

That you are God.

That those trees are God.

That everything is imbued with divine consciousness.

So,

This kind of realization that Siddhartha Gautama,

Who we call the Buddha,

Had is another path of Tantra which is called Shambhava Paya.

And these words aren't important.

But what this means is this is a method of realization of the truth.

Of realization where instead of connecting with the Shakti energy of the world,

You go directly to Shiva consciousness.

And you remember that you are divine consciousness.

Shakti Paya practices where we are very involved in the physical world and Shakti energy.

This is all the asana,

The kriyas,

The meditations,

The pranayama.

These are all of these beautiful practices within Shakti that we use to connect ourselves with the divine.

To remember the divinity within us.

But Shambhava Paya doesn't use any practices.

This particular sutra is a Shambhava Paya where you just hear it and you remember that you are Shiva consciousness.

That you are all those things out there.

And this is very significant to be able to live in both.

Live in both.

That this is a both and situation that we're living in.

We don't need to transcend Shakti to experience Shiva.

And we don't need to separate ourselves from divine consciousness to still enjoy pizza with our friends.

We get to experience all of these things.

But when we go too far into one camp or the other,

We have suffering.

If we go too far into Shakti and we don't remember Shiva,

We feel such great separation and pain and anxiety and aloneness.

This is the root of suffering.

This is the root of suffering.

So suddenly,

If we're separated from someone,

A loved one by distance or death or anything like that,

We feel extreme grief.

We experience longing for things we want.

We feel alone in the world because we feel like we're not a part of this world.

We're not a part of that community.

But how can that be true?

Every single one of us,

In all of our beautiful permutations and combinations,

We're all oneness.

Like every single person here.

The energy,

The life force,

The prana that flows through each of us is the same.

Like imagine,

Every one of us is made of the five elements of the universe.

Earth,

Fire,

Water,

Ether,

Air.

The same divine energy animates our bodies and minds and hearts.

Every person here.

Let's close our eyes.

Let's do a meditation together.

Let's close our eyes.

Let's do a meditation together.

No matter where you are,

Maybe you're sitting.

Maybe you're lying down.

Maybe you're at work pretending to be working.

Which,

As you know,

Is my favorite.

I get the funnest visuals.

But let's close our eyes together.

And let's just breathe deeply.

And I want you to imagine yourself as Shiva.

And I know it's an old-fashioned vision of God being up in the heavens and all that.

But let's go with it for a moment.

I want you to imagine that you are up wherever that is.

And you are Shiva.

You are oneness.

You are all things.

You are the rocks and the trees and the people in the oceans and the animals and the bugs and the birds.

And you see this beautiful world as this symbiotic ecosystem of love and connection.

And then you close your eyes as Shiva.

And you enter the consciousness of one of the beings down on Earth.

And here in human form,

You,

The meditator,

Are fully aware that you are Shiva.

Shiva hasn't entered you.

Shiva always was here.

And you're walking down the street in your mind's eye.

And you are looking out around you through the eyes of Shiva,

Of God,

Of whatever name rings true for you.

And you see the trees.

And you see a dog.

And you see worms.

And you see a dog.

And you see worms.

You see grass.

And you see the sky.

And you feel the wind.

And you know that all of this is also you.

And perhaps you see a bird flying overhead.

And you realize that you are also this bird.

And you can imagine what they see and what they feel,

Soaring through the air.

And you see a beautiful tree ahead of you.

And you realize that you can feel the tree.

You can feel its roots.

You can feel its roots flowing down into the earth.

You can feel the sun on your leaves,

The sap running through your body.

And there's another person walking towards you on the path.

And you look at them,

Eyes filled with love.

And they look at you.

And they look at you.

And you recognize each other,

Not as personalities,

But as divine beings here on earth.

And you smile at each other as you walk by.

And then ahead,

There is a little lake.

And as always,

A bench.

And we will walk up to the bench and sit down.

And breathe deeply,

Looking around this world,

Knowing that everything here is enlivened by the same energy that is made up of all the same elements.

And we get to be here to experience this.

And we get to be here to experience this.

And then just closing our eyes,

Breathing deeply,

Connecting into our heart center,

Our connection with the divine.

We're just going to listen to our sutra.

CHIT DHARMA SARVA DHESHU VISHESHA NASTI KUTRA CHIT ATHA CHATAN MAYAM SARVAM BHAVAYAN BHAVAJIT JANA The heart of the universe pulses in all hearts.

There is one who is the life in all forms.

There is one who is joyful in simply existing in all bodies,

As all bodies.

Explore the life that is the life of your present form.

One day,

You will discover it is not different from the life of the secret one.

And your heart will sing triumphant songs of being at home everywhere.

Let's just sit in silence for a few breaths.

And then let's take a deep breath in together,

Exhale,

And let's open our eyes and come back together.

So how do you feel right now?

Or what thoughts roll through your mind or what emoji describes where you're at?

Everywhere was at home.

If we considered everything going on just as an experience without labeling or judging,

Maybe every experience can be us experiencing the Shakti and still being rooted in our Shiva consciousness.

Enjoying everything without labeling and releasing it.

Namaste.

Absolutely wonderful and free.

Finally got it.

God is no different from me.

We are all one.

I feel like Namaha.

Everything everywhere all at once.

Challenge I have with the concept of no expectations is the energy of manifestation.

I echo Tatyana.

Amazing to remember we indeed are all one and the God within me sees and honors the God within you.

Namaste.

Totally.

The only division that exists is the one I create.

What I mean is how can I manifest if I don't imagine it and expect it?

The interesting thing about having Shiva consciousness and being manifest here on earth,

We can still manifest anything we want.

What's interesting is when we connect with the oneness of all things,

It's like it widens what's possible.

The more we forget about our brilliance or who we truly are,

Our belief in what we can manifest becomes much smaller.

We then end up believing in scarcity.

That there's not enough for me.

Or that that can't happen for me.

There's a play in this.

It's almost like a continuum.

On one end,

You have total separation and scarcity.

On the other hand,

You have full connection and oneness.

But we all live somewhere in this continuum.

We sort of flow back and forth all day long.

When we have this realization of oneness,

That we are all things,

We still live our lives.

We still write our books and open our businesses and have friends and lovers and children and communities.

We build things and we create things.

But there's a different joy inside.

There's a different optimism inside.

We don't grasp for things because we know that everything's here.

And when we don't grasp for things,

Things come easier to us.

I hope that helps.

So thank you so much for being here and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Holy lesson! Still having trouble living in both shiva and shakti at the same time. Seems paradoxical
