5th Chakra In The Light: Chakra 2.0 Series
by Katrina Bos
Let's explore all the aspects of the vishuddhi chakra and our ability to share our soul in a true way. This chakra is all about how we receive guidance for ourselves and for the world. It invites us to share all of our truth all of the time.

So today we're continuing our journey through the chakras.
And today we're talking about the fifth chakra.
For anyone who's new,
We're looking at the chakras in a very different way.
Historically we would always look at it based on the dysfunction,
Which I think is just really because we've lived in a very difficult space,
Very difficult time.
So the fifth chakra,
For example,
We would often look at the dysfunction that happens here.
What happens when our thyroid or our parathyroid are out of whack?
Why can't I express myself?
Why can't I speak?
Why can't I be heard?
Why do I have a creative block?
What are those things?
And we look at,
Well,
We were told that we weren't allowed to speak.
We were told that we had too much to say.
And we will look at that today.
But sometimes what we've not focused on is the perfection that's in here right now.
This is the idea that,
And for lots of you who have already heard a lot of these talks,
I'm just going to give a little bit of a foundation,
To imagine that there's two worlds running concurrently.
There's this beautiful world of light,
Of clarity,
Of purity,
Of and not in some weird way,
But of clearness and love and connection.
And this is where our chakras actually live.
That our chakras are actually perfect.
But right now your fifth chakra,
Your throat chakra,
Vishuddhi chakra,
Is perfect.
It is this beautiful spinning vortex of energy.
And it is absolutely perfect right now.
No matter what has ever happened to us in this lifetime or past lifetimes or however we understand it,
Your Vishuddhi chakra is perfect.
So here we come into this earth plane as these perfect energy beings.
And for whatever reason the earth plane is a little messed up.
I don't know why.
Lots of theories,
But regardless it's a little messed up.
And so what happens is because the world we're living in is not so clear,
Not so divinely connected and rooted and very confused and full of all kinds of cruelty and meanness and dysfunction and consumption and all these things,
We have to create an interface in order to interact with it.
As we all do,
Like this is a very natural thing.
It's like imagining you get a new job and maybe you have to be really professional,
But you're actually kind of a free spirit.
In order to do the job,
If you want to do the job,
You have to create an interface.
I mean this is how we've done it historically,
Whether that's how we'll do it going forward or not.
This is what we've had to do historically.
Maybe we're sitting in school and we're bored out of our mind.
Well unfortunately the rules are that you have to sit there.
So we create an interface in order to create a face that allows us to not get in trouble,
Even though inside we're dreaming up all kinds of interesting stories about other things.
This interface is actually the source of the dysfunction of the chakras.
So between the interface of the outside world and this absolute perfection that lives within each of us,
There will be rules and ideas that we've built up that say you're not allowed to speak.
Don't be weird.
Do things that keep the peace.
What do you mean you hear voices in your head?
What do you mean you have a message for me?
You're not allowed to say these things.
These things that I'm saying,
These responses are just in the interface.
We've learned by experience that if we say certain things,
If we allow this to flow as it's designed,
We're going to come up against problems.
Whether it happened in our family of origin,
Whether it happened in school,
Whether it happened at work,
Whether it happened in the schoolyard with our friends,
We very quickly and correctly found out that bad things happen if you just let this flow.
So we built up a program to allow us to survive wherever we were.
And this is correct.
It's a correct adaptation to our surroundings.
And this is really,
Really important because the fifth chakra,
Most people have some kind of struggle with it.
It's a very common thing because part of the world,
The shadow world that we live in is about oppression.
It is about keeping people small,
Not to be all negative and Debbie Downer about it.
It just is the way it is.
How to keep people conforming and doing what they're told and not too big and don't you be too big for your britches.
This is just whether we're oppressing women or we're oppressing minorities or children or it doesn't matter.
It's just a fact about the shadow world.
That's all.
So now we look at that.
We don't have to hate it or demonize it or worry about it.
It's just the way it is.
So now you imagine that this interface that we have that is interrupting the easy flow of this perfection.
And what this does is it allows us to know that this isn't broken.
My thyroid isn't ruined.
My ability to speak is there.
I just have to figure out how to shift the interface.
So for example,
What if our interface is outdated?
What if when we were a child,
It was really important to be quiet or else bad things would happen and bad things would happen.
This isn't a dysfunctional thought.
Bad things would happen.
We would be punished.
We would be sent to our room.
We wouldn't be able to do the things we wanted.
Maybe we were even hurt.
Or if we were in the school yard,
Maybe we'd be bullied or we'd get in trouble at school.
These are very formative times.
And so the fact that we've built up an adaptation program to make sure that these things don't happen at a very,
Very young age,
It's very important to realize.
But now as an adult,
We can look at them objectively.
And that's the real key to being able to look at this interface.
We can look at it objectively and say,
I needed that when I was five.
I needed that when I was 15.
I might have needed that when I was 30 in the relationship I was in,
In the family I was in,
In the job I was in,
In whatever circumstances I was in,
I needed that.
But do I need it now?
Is it in line with my truth,
With my satya,
With my soul's path?
And we can look at it with love,
With thanks that we developed it when we needed it.
And we can now set that aside.
And so within the world of yoga and meditation,
Of course,
It's very easy to look and find particular asanas,
And particular meditations and particular pranayamas that will help us open the fifth chakra.
There's lots of techniques out there to help this open.
But what I really want to talk about today is the philosophies and the ideas that we've adopted from the shadow world integrated into our way call it,
I've lost my word.
Into the interface.
And that is actually what's stopping us.
If we believe that we cannot speak,
If we believe that the voices in our head are not something we're supposed to be listening to,
Then it doesn't matter how much yoga we do.
It doesn't matter how much pranayama we do,
It doesn't matter how much shoulder stand we do.
If we have a belief that we shouldn't be doing this or we don't understand what's actually flowing from our mouths,
From our hands in art,
In writing and things like that,
Then we will hold it back.
We just won't be able to expand that way.
So I want to talk about what the word Vishuddhi means.
Vishuddhi is the Sanskrit word for this chakra,
Vishuddhi chakra.
And there's a lot of different aspects we want to look at here.
One we want to look at the ability to hear.
So if you imagine the back of the chakra and the front of the chakra,
The back of the chakra,
This is where we hear everything.
And I know this sounds weird,
Right?
You'd think it would be up here or something like that.
This is different.
This is sight.
This is where we hear.
So this is where we hear messages,
Maybe from God,
From your highest self,
The Holy Spirit.
This is where we hear messages from guides,
From spirit.
This is also where we hear messages from the world,
From books we've read,
Lyrics from songs,
Movies,
Thoughts of other people.
This is where we hear things.
So we're receiving,
We're listening.
We're listening intuitively.
We're listening with our ears.
We're listening.
And this is what's coming in the backside of the chakra.
Now if this is in absolute perfection,
The next part is Vishuddhi actually means filter.
Vishya means impurity or poison.
And Shuddhi means purify.
So Vishuddhi is actually a filter for the world.
So now imagine this now to understand too that all of our chakras are all one.
They're all actually inter posed on each other.
So they're all actually like this.
We are a oneness.
We're just pulling them apart to look at them individually as different aspects of a diamond.
Now if you have a strong third chakra,
If you have a strong sense of self,
And if you listen to our other talk about the third chakra,
The third chakra is actually all about thoughts.
And the thoughts are all about your soul's path,
Your purpose.
Why were you put here?
What is your journey all about?
When we are clear about what our journey is all about,
We will have belief systems,
Structures,
Ideas that further us on our journey.
It's kind of like imagine someone like Christopher Columbus,
Whose passion was to get on a ship and explore other lands.
He would know about traveling the sea.
He would know about voyaging,
He would know about those things.
This is the same as the third chakra,
That we would have all the ideas and beliefs and understandings that I need,
Very specifically me,
This incarnation,
This soul needs to play out this interesting assignment.
So when I have a strong third chakra,
I am clear on my journey.
This is what feeds our throat chakra.
This is what feeds our Vishuddhi.
This is what clarifies the filter.
So that when things come in,
And this can be anything.
This can be ideas,
It can be emotions,
It can be thoughts.
It can be messages from spirit,
It can be intuition from God,
It can be lyrics from songs.
It can be the thoughts of other people.
Everything that we hear that comes in,
When our Vishuddhi chakra is in its absolute glory,
It everly says,
Yes,
That's for me,
Down it goes.
That's not for me,
That's for me,
That's not for me.
And it's just filtering constantly.
And it keeps our system clear.
And not just a poison,
Energetically,
Physically,
Mentally,
All those kind of things.
But of things that are simply not for us,
Extra baggage,
Nonsense,
Distractions,
Red herrings,
All the things that just have nothing to do with our path.
So this is our beautiful Vishuddhi chakra acting in its absolute perfection,
Saying,
Yes,
No,
Yes,
No,
Yes,
No.
So then what happens?
We just live in this total bliss state,
Because the only thing running through our system are all the things we need for our journey.
We take nothing else in.
So then the front part of this is how we share what we hear,
How we share our soul,
How we share our journey.
And that could be through speech.
It could be through singing.
It could be through writing.
It could be through art.
It could be through dance.
It could be through acts of service.
It could be anything.
It's the expression of self.
It could be building a house,
When it's an expression of our soul's creativity.
It's that little voice that says,
Turn left,
And I turn left.
It's the flow through.
So you imagine how easy this is,
When it's just fully activated.
I hear the voice.
I sort it.
Yes,
That's for me.
And I take action.
I do the thing.
I say the words.
I paint the painting,
Whatever that is.
How blissful is that?
Imagine just living in this lovely space,
Not having to wonder,
Am I saying something wrong?
Is this going to hurt the other person?
All those kind of things,
Because you're just simply expressing something that is from your soul,
And it's on your journey.
It's so easy.
But of course,
That's not necessarily how it's worked in the shadow world.
So we're going to go there for a minute.
So first of all,
Where does this go awry in our world?
Imagine we're young,
And our parents are saying something to us,
And we don't want to hear it.
Our Vishuddhi chakra is saying,
No,
That's not for me.
No.
And what do our parents say?
Listen,
Listen,
You're not listening to me.
And there's some part of us that forces us and trains us in the interface to say,
You have to listen to everything.
You have to take everything in.
You're not allowed to sort based on what you want to hear.
You have to hear everything.
This is a really serious training.
And I get it as a parent.
I understand this desire to say,
Listen to me.
I get it.
But think of that.
We have literally shut down our access to our own filter at a very,
Very young formative stage.
Think of our education system.
We sit there,
And we have to listen and take in every single thing.
That's how you become an A student.
You have to digest every single thing.
No filtering allowed.
Imagine,
No filtering allowed,
No accessing of your Vishuddhi chakra.
And then you go to work.
Here are all the things you have to internalize.
You have to internalize the politics,
The people,
The work,
The belief structures of the business,
Everything.
Our Vishuddhi chakra isn't allowed to function there either.
And so you can imagine like a million places where it's like,
No,
You're not allowed to filter.
And to really think about that today,
Do I have to take in every single thing I hear?
And this could be anything.
This could be the thoughts of my loved ones.
Do I have to listen to every single thing they say?
Especially when we really do understand that most of the things we say to anybody is about us.
It's about something that they're doing that is stimulating something in us.
When we were children and our parents were having a bad day,
Oftentimes,
Especially depending on our parents,
They were just dropping their bad day on us.
We were right to try to run away,
To try to block it,
To try to say,
Our Vishuddhi chakra was right on saying,
I don't know who you're so mad at.
But it's not me.
They were mad at their boss.
Maybe they were mad at their parents.
Maybe they were mad at each other.
And the kids were getting it.
And our Vishuddhi chakras were like fighting back until we stopped fighting back.
But we're not those children anymore.
And maybe we're not in those positions anymore.
So to really give ourselves the freedom to sort the world,
To really meditate and ask ourselves,
What am I here for?
That other person over there,
They may really need that information.
Like I always think of even if you heard some kind of news report or some kind of TV show or some kind of documentary and you had 10 people watching the documentary,
Each person ideally would take different things away from the documentary based on their life's path,
Based on their journey.
They're not all supposed to take away the same thing because we each have a different blueprint.
We each have a different set of necessities for our path.
So imagine that you were always,
No matter what you were doing,
Whether you were listening to someone talk,
Whether you're watching TV,
Whether you're watching documentaries or movies or listening to songs or reading a book,
You're really just listening for what's important to you.
And everything else is going by.
Can you imagine that all of a sudden something comes in and you go,
Oh,
Now that's interesting.
I'll take that.
This,
Not that,
Not this,
Not that,
Not this,
Not that.
Oh,
Oh,
That's interesting.
Can you imagine living our lives like that?
Erring on the side of not for me,
But that's for me and when it resonates,
It's for me.
This is so opposite to how,
Certainly how I was raised to actually give myself the freedom to sort.
And when someone says,
No,
You should really care about this.
And you say,
But for some reason I don't,
But maybe it's really important on your journey.
And that's cool.
That's great.
That's perfect.
Now imagine the ability to share,
The ability to do,
The ability to create,
The ability to speak.
How often do we only speak because we want someone to respond in a certain way,
Or we only speak because we want to look a certain way,
Because we're afraid of people not liking us or we want to make our parents happy or the teachers happy,
Or we want to get the promotion at work or whatever it is.
So often how we share,
What we do,
How we paint a picture physically or metaphorically,
It's so edited because we're so conscious of how the other person's going to receive it.
So even if information has come into us and we're able to share it,
We then edit it further.
You can feel the interface.
I can feel the,
Okay,
I can say this much,
But it's going to hit this filter before it hits the world.
And then something's going to trickle out,
But not really us.
So what happens?
What happens when we always have this filter here?
We actually,
We just feel like we're never seen.
No one really knows us.
No one really knows who I am.
And even I maybe don't even know who I am because I'm filtering this or I'm unable to filter this.
And then I'm filtering this and our own words are our mantras.
And if we repeat things that aren't exactly true,
That also gets fed back into us until we don't even know who we are.
I also want to talk about these voices in our head,
The things we hear.
Now this could be anything from intuition,
Holy Spirit,
Guides.
And it also could be that you're a full blown medium,
That you actually can hear spirits,
That spirits can embody you,
That this is a thing.
And everybody has,
I feel like we have a continuum of abilities on this spectrum.
I have no such abilities,
So I can only speak to this in theory.
But one thing that is clear is that regardless of whether you're a full blown medium,
You sometimes hear messages,
You hear guidance from your own guides,
You listen to the Holy Spirit,
You hear intuition,
Or you hear the voices of your parents in your mind.
The key is to always have boundaries,
To always be clear.
And these boundaries are set by our third chakra.
These boundaries are,
Is this on my path?
And no matter where we believe the voice comes from,
No matter where we sense it from,
If it's taking us off our path,
Then we say no.
This is a Vishuddhi chakra.
No,
Yes,
No,
Yes.
Just because we hear it doesn't mean we have to follow it.
This is very,
Very important.
Because there are all kinds of voices out there.
We are infinite beings.
We hear all the voices,
And they're not all for us.
So it's really,
Really interesting to be clear.
So again,
Whether we go into the mediumship area,
Which is not my area,
So I can't speak to it,
We get to say yes or no.
Whether we're listening to our guides,
We get to say yes or no.
I mean,
I remember one time I was teaching intuition at a workshop like 15 years ago.
And I think I told some of you guys about this.
And I was still finishing writing,
What if you could skip the cancer?
It wasn't complete yet,
But it was getting there.
And I was teaching all about this,
That you know,
If you hear something within,
You share it and you let that flow and you get that intuition flowing and everything.
And this woman came up to me at the end,
And she says,
I have a message for you,
Katrina.
Oh,
Okay.
And she said,
I think you're going to get cancer again.
I just stared at her.
And I thought,
What?
And I went home and I really chewed about it,
Right?
I really thought about it,
Because I believe that things come across my path for purpose.
And when I really prayed about it and meditated on it,
It actually became one of the last chapters of my book,
What if you could skip the cancer,
Because I realized that I actually wasn't afraid of getting cancer again.
I was afraid that I would have to go into that journey of changing again,
That I would have to go into that dark night of the soul,
That maybe I was still lying to myself,
That I was still blocking my truth,
That I wasn't listening to my deepest truth,
That I was still listening to these other voices,
The voices of other people in society or whoever.
And I still wasn't listening.
So in the end,
It turned out to be really valuable thing that she shared that with me.
And it's really,
Really important to always have discernment.
A full flowing vashuddhi chakra doesn't just share everything.
It's a filter.
It really is,
Is this on my path?
Is this about me?
Is this my journey?
So that's just the messages.
But now imagine what we hear beyond the psychic stuff.
Oftentimes we do hear voices in our heads.
I've often talked about this book I once read.
I think it was called Taming Your Gremlins or Taming Your Inner Gremlins.
And it was all about how our brains were like this boardroom full of people.
And they were like all the personalities of our life,
The commandant that's always telling you that you're not good enough and the kind of the Mother Teresa,
It's like,
You were awesome.
You're just perfect the way you are.
And this one who's super emotional,
That just loves the drama and this person over here,
That's now come on,
Let's be reasonable.
And that every time something comes in,
Like you imagine everything comes in and all of a sudden this filter or whatever,
This boardroom of people are like,
All right,
Now let's look at this.
Unfortunately,
Because of this curious shadow world we've been living in and are living in,
Many of the people in that boardroom don't belong there.
They're not very nice.
They're mean voices.
They're judgmental voices.
They're overly emotional voices.
They're even voices that sometimes tell us that we're weak,
That we're not smart enough to make our own choices,
That who are you to filter what comes in and out of your life.
So the voices in that boardroom,
That's why they're called gremlins,
Often come from the shadow world.
They're part of the interface.
They are not our true bishuti chakra.
So it's very interesting,
It was a huge journey for me to really sit and listen to the voices.
It was like I was unknowingly sorting out,
Using that bishuti chakra to sort out the boardroom to say,
No,
You don't belong here.
You're part of the interface.
You judgment guy,
You can go.
You over there that says that I'm not strong enough to do this,
You can go.
You over there that says that I'm not allowed to be connected to God and hear my own guidance,
You're gone too.
None of you guys are helping me on my path.
None of you are all taking me off of my path.
And the real blessing for me in my journey when I discovered this book and that idea,
This was back in 1999 when I had the breast lumps and I was wondering if I would die.
And then things become very clear,
Like suddenly all your chakras become clear and you go,
Okay,
Hold on a minute.
The poisons in our life suddenly become more obvious.
Whether they're ideas,
Whether they're people,
Whether they're circumstances,
They become very clear when you start getting to that edge going,
So like I might not be here if I don't sort this out.
This was my journey.
It's not necessarily yours.
So it became very easy to sort out these different beings in my mind.
So this is also part of our Vishuddhi Chakra.
The voices in your mind,
You're allowed to have boundaries with and you're allowed to put them through the filter and say,
Are you taking me forward on my path?
Are you blocking my path?
Are you distracting me and sending me off of my path?
Because I only am bringing in what's on my path.
And it's really interesting because eventually they disappear.
They just disappear.
It's like they just,
You know,
There's like a meme with Homer Simpson and he's standing in front of this shrubbery and all of a sudden he just disappears into the shrubbery and he's gone.
That's what it's like.
As soon as they don't have a voice anymore,
They just disappear.
They no longer exist.
And then five years later,
You can't remember ever having that voice in your head.
The other voice to be,
The voices to be conscious of is to understand that we truly are telepathic beings.
In Marlo Morgan's book,
Mutant Message Down Under,
She talks about this or the indigenous people taught about that,
About how human beings are meant to be telepathic.
The only reason we can't read each other's minds is because the shadow world is all about judgment.
So if you think something and it's against me,
I'm going to take it personally.
I'm going to think it's about me.
And I'm afraid for you to hear my thoughts because I'm afraid you're going to take it personally or I'm going to be afraid you're going to judge me for it.
Which of course is all nonsense.
Our thoughts are our own thoughts.
They have nothing to do with anyone else.
But just because the shadow world is the way it is,
Our telepathy is shut down.
But sometimes it's open.
Sometimes there's cracks in it.
And some of the things we hear really are other people's thoughts.
We really do know what people are thinking.
And we hear them.
Now this again,
We have to imagine ourselves,
We have to heal a lot inside of us.
Because it becomes this discernment,
This filter that says,
All right,
One,
What if I am hearing their thought?
Am I taking it personally?
Let's say it's negative.
Does it matter what they think?
Would my filter,
If it was in its perfection,
Simply let that fly on by?
Is it important to me?
Is it grist for the mill?
Is it something that I need to hear?
Because I need to learn this.
Maybe I need to be stopped short and turned or changed direction.
But this is where all of this self-love comes in.
That if I can hear the thoughts of other people,
I must filter it with self-love.
Because if I actually don't like myself,
If I'm heavily judging self,
If my interface is heavily judging self,
And I hear the thoughts of others,
What happens?
It just compounds it.
So it's a very interesting thing.
You can imagine then why we struggle to have a free-flowing Vishuddhi chakra.
Because there's just so much information out there.
So what's the answer?
How do we do it?
What do we do to actually allow this to be clear?
It's all about that connecting to our own truth,
Our own satya,
Our own path.
Really allowing each one of us to be perfectly unique,
To really get that for some reason,
We were all given a unique fingerprint.
We were all given a unique DNA signature.
Why?
Because we all have a unique path.
We all have a unique journey to take.
And what that means is as information comes in,
However we experience it,
From the ethers,
From spirit,
From movies,
From lyrics,
From songs,
From friends,
From talks,
From books,
We get to sort.
We must sort.
If we want to really clear this and really feel this beautiful flow that's in there waiting for us,
All we have to do is sort.
Not me,
Not me.
Oh yes,
Me.
This.
That's all about me.
I'll take that.
The sorting is the number one thing in the eight limbs of yoga.
One of the niyamas,
One of the observances is called saucha,
Which means purity or clearness.
And this is something that you want to expand in our lives.
This is a huge part of the yogic path.
So what does that mean?
It means that we don't let any impurities in.
And I'm not talking about weird three-dimensional versions of this.
I mean,
What are we bringing in to our being that is clearly for our journey?
To really feel that,
That only that which is on my journey enters me.
This is the true meaning of purity.
It's not some religious thing.
It's I'm only taking with me what I need and who I am and what is for me.
Everything else is for someone else.
It's not for me.
To give ourselves the freedom that we don't have to take in every single thing from all the sources in the world.
And these are philosophical personal questions that we have to ask or we have to discuss within each of us.
Am I okay with that?
Am I okay only knowing the things I'm drawn to?
But to really philosophically ask ourselves because you may have another program that says now that's being irresponsible.
It's really important to ask ourselves if we're allowed to filter.
And then the beautiful thing is this outward,
This front part to imagine that this too is by design.
That however we express our truth,
It's just us.
It's like a friend of mine.
She's started her own YouTube channel and she's not doing it for business.
She's not doing it,
Well,
She's not doing it for business,
Which is normally why people have YouTube channels.
And she's like,
I don't even know why I'm doing it.
But what if it's just an expression of self?
What if you just made videos about things that were interesting to you and it wasn't about developing a following?
What if it's not about feeding people into your new upcoming online program?
What if it was just about expression of self?
It's an amazing thing to just do it for the purity of the joy of the expression.
It's like singing.
What if you just sang because it felt beautiful,
Because you love the resonance of the music in our bodies and it had nothing to do with what it sounded like or to draw for the sake of drawing,
To paint for the sake of painting,
For the sheer joy of seeing a color and playing with it.
The other interesting thing I want to add,
And then we'll do some questions,
Is what's really interesting is this is often thought about the thyroid.
Thyroid,
Especially parathyroid,
Jaw,
Teeth,
All these kind of things too.
But the thyroid physically is in charge of metabolism,
Growth,
And development.
Imagine that this is in charge of how we grow,
How we expand in our lives.
What are we bringing in to feed that growth?
What are we listening to to guide us in the direction we want to grow,
In the ways we want to develop?
It's like imagining you want to run a marathon.
You're going to take in certain things.
You're going to take in certain kinds of food.
You're going to take in certain kinds of podcasts.
You're going to talk to certain kinds of people about it,
Because you're 100% focused on this aspect of your development.
So imagine if we become clear about where we want to go,
We're going to become pretty clear about our filter.
About what comes in and what comes out.
That literally this is our perpetual growth as a human.
They even talk about in some traditions the fifth chakra being the source of Amrita,
Or the fountain of youth,
The nectar of life,
The thyroid.
Imagine that this is actually directing our journey based on our inputs and outputs.
So interesting.
Thyroid issues are a huge deal,
And they're a huge deal in women especially,
But they do exist in men too.
So for example,
People are often hypothyroid,
Or like they have hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
When you have a hyperthyroid,
Oftentimes there's too much information coming in that isn't good for you.
There's so much information coming in and you're not filtering it.
So it's just like this like crazy.
So the hyperthyroidism often causes weight loss,
Right?
You can't keep the weight on because you're just processing so much stuff all the time.
When we have a low thyroid,
Hypothyroidism,
And I am not a doctor,
So just take this with the grain of new age salt,
But I do genuinely believe it.
Hypothyroidism is when we've blocked it,
We shut it down.
We are no longer listening to the guidance within.
And so not only are we not listening to the guidance within,
We're not sharing.
So if we have a low thyroid,
Then we need to start listening.
We need to start trusting.
We need to start filtering and listening for what's on my path and sharing it.
And if we have too much hyperthyroid,
Then we really need to start filtering and going,
No,
No,
No,
No,
No,
No,
No.
And just listening to the voices that are meant for us.
And all this being said,
So I kind of pooh-poohed doing exercises or meditations or pranayamas.
But the key is to first know that we're perfect inside and that there's something amok with this interface,
Maybe not sorting enough,
Shutting it down,
Not listening,
Too many voices,
Whatever it is,
Fear of others.
If you go into your yoga practice with that understanding,
Then you can have a different experience.
So for example,
Let's say you sit quietly and you think to yourself,
You know what,
I'm going to do plow pose.
Because plow pose,
You know,
Plow pose when you're on your back and your legs flip over and you're on your shoulders.
This is obviously very stimulating to the fifth chakra.
So you imagine that you're in this asana.
And while you're in the asana,
You're breathing deeply.
And you're thinking about these things.
You're thinking about filtering,
What comes in,
What doesn't belong.
You're thinking about expressing self.
And you allow whatever it is to come up.
Asanas are designed as treatments,
But they have to be within the context of a healing philosophy.
In the same way you might do a meditation where you're humming.
And this stimulates this chakra.
But to do it and understand that because we're stimulating,
And my intention is to clear whatever it is that is a muck,
Hyper,
Hypo,
Coming in,
Going out,
Whatever it is,
I want to come back to perfection.
Then we do the pranayama and we do this humming and allow whatever to rise,
Allow memories to rise,
Allow awarenesses to rise around that idea.
And keep doing it,
Maybe doing it for do it for 11 minutes.
And you do it and all the discomfort that arises,
You know this is moving the interface.
Because this is one of the challenges with doing yoga and meditation or Kundalini yoga,
Which I teach.
We get to this place because we don't understand why we're doing it.
We don't understand that this is a purification process.
We're doing this to clear the interface.
And that means that we may come up against walls.
We may come up against things that we don't want to feel,
Or fears or memories or things like that.
So to do the yoga with that understanding that,
Ah,
My Vishuddhi chakra is meant to just flow.
And I meant to just filter.
All right,
Then I'm going to do whatever your practice is.
It doesn't have to be Kundalini yoga,
Or buzzing pranayama or anything like that.
But whatever you choose to do,
Do it with the understanding that if you come up against something you've come up against the interface and this was the intention.
So keep breathing,
Keep humming.
Maybe it's singing.
Maybe singing is really therapeutic for you.
Maybe it's in the shower and singing.
And it brings up discomfort.
And what if someone hears me?
What if I don't sound good?
Would you allow that witness mind to witness this saying,
Wow,
There's a piece of the interface.
Can I let it go?
Or do I have to chew on it a bit more?
We can use all of these wonderful techniques.
But we have to use them within the context of understanding what's blocking.
And then we can use any technique we find.
We can go online and say,
How do we open the fifth chakra,
Which basically means look at the interface.
And whatever it is,
Do it with this mentality.
Do it from that place of perfection that you are perfect inside.
You are not hypothyroidic.
You are not that thing.
You developed it in the interface to adapt.
So we're going to do this to heal the interface.
That's awesome.
Sometimes all we need to do is know it.
And we go,
Hmm.
And we start speaking and we filter and it becomes easy.
So thank you so much for being here.
And I will see you soon.

I’m really loving this series of talks and am up to this one #5 so far. I can understand and really resonate with your descriptions of “the interface” acting as a filter between you and the world and limiting your true self. Also that the interface can act as a feedback loop for your negative thoughts or self-criticism. But… practically speaking… how do you get rid of the filter? Or clean the filter as you put it in one of these sessions? It feels like we are identifying the problem but lacking the solution. Anyway, thanks for the talks they are great.
