This Metta Circle meditation practice was nurtured into being by my teacher Heather Sundberg. It's a beautiful way of cultivating a felt sense of protection, a healthy energetic boundary that helps catch the arrows of life in awareness rather than letting them pierce our hearts. There is a balance of instruction as well as periods of silence.

So if you want to imagine,

Some of us like to do this physically with our arms or we do it with our minds,

Imagine yourself kind of drawing a circle around the body in 360 degrees.

It goes down below your feet,

Generally about an arm's length distance from the body,

But whatever it is,

Is perfect for you so you can make it as big or as cozy.

It's perfectly clear.

And keep you from connecting with the outside world.

And then we're going to ground the bubble into the earth.

Feeling our feet on the ground,

Steadiness and support of the earth below us and this boundary,

This meta circle.

Imagining if you can get a sense of that in your own felt sense.

And then imagining above the crown of the head,

Feeling this wish,

May I feel safe and protected from harm.

Just noticing how you notice that.

May I feel safe and protected from harm.

Seeing that wish to drop through the crown of the head into the body.

Breaking down,

Spreading out.

And then eventually comes out through the soles of the feet and starts to fill the bubble itself with this wish.

May I be safe and protected from harm.

And we repeat,

Feeling the energy at the crown of the head,

Releasing it down into the body.

Imagining it.

Rem Suddenly,

Out through the soles of the feet,

Filling the bubble all around you.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And maybe start to notice the invitation that a felt sense of safety provides us with.

This invitation to soften.

For the worries and preoccupations to drop away.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And if there's a thought or some preoccupation in the mind that's really persistent,

You might just reframe it as,

I'm having the thought that fill in the blank.

Noticing how or if that changes the relationship.

We can also imagine just locating that thought outside of the bubble.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

So staying with this general format.

Feeling the bubble around us,

Feeling ourselves here.

The energy of the wish at the crown of the head.

Dropping that wish down into the body.

So we've been working with safety.

And continuing to whatever it is that you might need today.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

And continuing with the third cycle.

Can you be slow,

Deliberate as you offer and receive this wish for yourself?

Thanks.
