It's time to de-stress.
Hello friends and welcome to your after shift meditation.
You've likely had a long day with alarms ringing and everyone needing your attention.
But that's in the past and you are here now with yourself,
Ready to unpack your energy and soothe your mind.
We begin this meditation with a warm,
Deep,
Full breath in,
Filling up our lungs,
Chest,
All the way into our shoulders.
And sigh it out.
Your whole full breath in on your own time,
Holding it at the top and releasing.
Take a moment here to get comfortable.
Maybe you're already in bed,
Warm under your covers.
Maybe you didn't even make it past the couch.
Wherever you are,
Make this space your own and settle in here.
Closing your outer eye,
I want you to turn your attention inwards.
We spend our shifts in patient care,
Constantly sending our attention and energies outward.
It's time to draw our energy back into ourselves and enter into the space of peace.
We give ourselves permission in this moment to stop doing and just be.
Be here with yourself.
Bring your awareness into this present moment.
This moment is the only one that exists.
There is nothing you need to do and you are exactly where you need to be.
Right now.
Right here.
If you find your mind wandering,
Ruminating over the events of the day,
That's okay.
Observe the inner voice,
The inner chatter of the mind.
You have been living in your sympathetic nervous system all day.
Your adrenals have been working nonstop to keep you going,
Reacting to stress response after stress response.
Be kind with yourself here.
What comes up for you is exactly what you are meant to experience in this moment.
Meditation is not goal oriented.
We are simply here,
Open and available with ourselves.
When the mind wanders,
Simply bring your awareness back to this present moment.
Anchor your attention on your breath.
Feel each inhale and each exhale.
Now place one hand over your heart and the other on your abdomen and say thank you to yourself for completing this day.
You did it.
You made it.
You are a warrior.
We celebrate and express gratitude to ourselves in this moment,
Bringing forth kindness,
Love,
And forgiveness into our awareness.
Thank you hands.
Thank you feet.
Thank you mind.
We are so thankful,
Expressing so much gratitude.
What amazing works of art we are.
Your body has served you today.
Wrapping ourselves in this nourishing energy,
Breathe in this space you've just made for yourself.
Lean into this feeling.
Find peace and rest in this feeling of gratitude.
We now expand this nourishing energy around us and we see in our mind's eye a little ball of light in our belly.
This light is pure and radiant.
With each breath it grows,
Descending into your lower abdomen and pelvis,
Down your thighs,
Your knees,
Your shins,
Ankles,
And feet,
Traveling up your chest into your shoulders,
Arms,
Forearms,
And hands.
Feel light radiating through your neck,
Throat,
And head.
Every cell of your body vibrating with this brilliant energy.
Every organ doused with this light.
It shines so brightly that there is a giant aura of white light around you.
With each breath it extends further,
Growing past you and shining brilliantly into the room,
Filling up the room,
Blasting it with light.
With this light we know that no darkness can exist.
All negative energy,
Heaviness,
And burdenness is dissolved in spirit.
Nothing but love and peace lives in this space.
Nothing but light lives in you.
You are light.
You are a magnificent emanation of divine intelligence,
Creativity,
And beauty,
And you are on this planet for a mighty purpose.
Feel this expansion.
Breathe in this space.
Breathing white light and exhaling white light.
Look in this nourishment here for a few moments.
Feel the calming presence you've cultivated in yourself and your space.
This is your true nature.
Gently bring movements and life back into your body.
Taking one final deep healing breath together.
Feeling the air move through your nose,
Expanding your lungs,
Chest rising and holding the breath at the top.
Hold it for a little bit longer and sigh it out.
Open your eyes and enter into life again with a little more light and a little more love.
