My name is Kate and this meditation is part of our 40 Days to a Personal Revolution program,
Which was developed by Baron Baptiste.
Today we will be doing a simple five minute meditation.
To begin,
Take a moment and get comfortable in your seat.
Close your eyes and start by noticing your foundation and adjust your seat and support so that you're comfortable.
Now do something on purpose with your hands.
You might place them face up or face down in your lap.
Bring your spine to an upright and alert position and relax your shoulders.
This week in our meditation,
We'll focus on the act of being present.
Aim your mind directly to the moment at hand and apply just the right amount of energy to your breath.
Allow your breath to flow at its normal rhythm without trying to lengthen or shorten the breath in any way.
Just watch the natural ebb and flow of your breath,
One breath at a time.
Paying attention allows us to be present.
Just pay attention to your inhale and your exhale.
When you get distracted by my voice or any other outside stimulus,
Just begin again.
Notice the inhale and notice the exhale.
If you get distracted by your own thoughts,
Notice your distraction.
And without any judgment at all,
Just return to your breath.
Take a deeper breath in.
Take another deep breath in.
Before you open your eyes,
Take a moment and acknowledge yourself for making time to strengthen your meditation muscles and foster mental stability.
