A simple practice to notice how often we get lured into the activity in our minds, away from the stillness that makes rest and regeneration possible. Resolve to let your mind appear as a blank screen for twenty minutes. Watch carefully for thoughts to arise. They may come up as images, tunes, ideas, or words. Some may arise as or with feelings, emotions, or sounds, perhaps in the form of voices. As soon as you become aware of distractions, step back into the gap between you and your thoughts.

Welcome.

My name is Kate and this meditation is part of our 40 Days to a Personal Revolution program developed by Baron Baptiste.

Today we will be doing a 20-minute meditation to rest and restore our mind.

Take a moment and get comfortable in your seat.

Close your eyes.

Begin by noticing your foundation and adjust your seat so that you're comfortable.

Now do something on purpose with your hands.

You might place them face up or face down in your lap.

Bring your spine to an upright and alert position and relax your shoulders.

This week we will do a very simple but challenging meditation to notice how often we get lured into the activity in our minds away from the stillness that makes true rest and regeneration possible.

Anchor your mind to the now moment.

Resolve to let your mind appear as a blank screen for 20 minutes.

Do your best to allow your attention to rest in the gap between your thoughts.

Watch carefully for thoughts to arise.

They may come up as images,

Tunes,

Ideas or words.

Some may arise as feelings,

Emotions or sounds,

Maybe even in the form of voices.

Note these ceaseless images in your mind and how relentlessly they appear to distract you from being still and restoring and quiet.

Try not to struggle to free yourself from your distractions,

Songs in your head or any other busyness.

As soon as you become aware of falling into this dream stuff of having been lured away into busyness,

Step back into the gap between you and your thoughts and let your thoughts go.

You may need to do this again and again and again.

But that is just what meditation is.

Beginning again.

If you find that allowing your mind to be blank,

To rest between the gap in your thoughts is really challenging,

If you find that you want to count your breath or bring your attention into another anchor,

Just commit to this experiment.

Commit to not doing and just being.

Allow yourself to just be without having to do anything.

If you notice that you're lost in thought,

Distracted by mental noise and chatter,

You acknowledge that and come back to bear attention.

Blank canvas in the present moment.

Just noticing what is right here.

Startup.

You you you you you the point of meditation is to train ourselves to know the difference between thinking and being lost in thought We don't know the difference we get lost in worlds that exist only inside our heads And we miss out on the truth and beauty of seeing life through a clear lens of present moment consciousness you Take a deeper breath Take another deep breath Acknowledge yourself for staying present for your meditation today Namaste

The point of meditation is learning how to think, rather than just being lost in thought! I loved this.
