Earthing: Connect To The Medicine Of Mother Earth
During these winds of change, connecting to the deep medicine of nature is one of the most important practices to nurture. For those of you that find yourself in a city-dwelling or unable to access nature, this meditation serves as a portal to connect you with the energies of nature, so that you too can feel so deeply held and supported by Mama Earth's nourishing nectar.
Transcript
Welcome to this earthen meditation practice.
I invite you to find an easeful position,
Seated or lying down,
Whichever feels best for your energy levels today.
As you feel ready to do so,
Closing the eyes,
Softening the eyes in their sockets,
Relaxing the forehead,
The space between the eyebrows,
Softening the cheekbones,
The jaw and allow the tongue to rest in the mouth.
And as you settle,
Feel the weight of your body surrendering down into the earth.
I invite you to take three cleansing cycles of breath,
Breathing in through your nose and out through the mouth,
Releasing any tension as the breath travels out.
Inhaling through the nose,
Exhaling through the mouth.
One last deep breath in and exhaling to let go of your day.
Finding an even rhythm of breath now as you breathe in and out through the nose.
And on the next out breath,
I invite you to intuitively shift the awareness from the locus of your head to the locus of your heart.
Connecting with your energetic heart centre,
The space behind the centre of the breastbone.
And if it helps you may place one or two hands onto the heart as you begin to breathe from and into this place,
Using the soothing quality of your breath to tenderise this space.
Here we invite a little bit of thankfulness,
Simply to be well enough today to practice.
Feeling grateful to have this opportunity to receive,
To have this opportunity to refocus our energy inward.
We'll call in the collective intention of earthing,
Of a tuning to the nourishing earth energy,
So we may receive nourishment and stability.
So we may become strong energy pillars,
So deeply anchored within our own personal energy fields.
And I invite you now to envisage yourself standing at the beginning of a forest trail,
Feeling welcomed by the gentle warmth of the spring sunshine,
The touch of the soft breeze on your skin.
You begin making your way down the path towards the forest,
Walking slowly and mindfully as you begin to tune into the energy of nature,
The wild and the trees,
Absorbing all these sounds,
The smells,
The textures and sensations.
As you reach the forest landscape you find a tree that calls to you.
You make your way over to the tree and take a seat,
Feeling your back supported by its stable trunk,
Your sit bones held by the earth and resting here asking to connect with Mama Alpa,
Mother Earth.
You allow the earth of your body to ground,
Your pelvis held and supported by the earth,
Each breath becoming more centered in your body as you allow yourself to breathe in sync with the earth,
Feeling the air flowing into your lungs and back out into the world.
And on your next exhale taking the awareness to the pelvis and imagine that you can send an earthing cord from the center of your pelvis down into the center of the earth,
Through the soil,
Bedrock,
Deep deep down into the core of the earth.
If it helps to make this connection you can take very subtle circular movements here with the pelvis,
As if this movement can help to spiral this grounding cord deeper and deeper into the earth.
When you feel like you've made this connection,
Just plugging in from the core of your body to the core of the earth,
You can settle back to stillness.
We'll use our breath now to release and receive through our grounding cord.
So I invite you on the exhale to give yourself permission to release whatever is ready to be released in this moment.
Maybe any heavy stagnant energy,
Any worries,
Any overactive mind energy.
We offer that down into the earth so it can be recycled.
And with our in-breath I invite you to give yourself permission to receive the nourishing earth energy,
Allowing this pure nectar to travel from the earth up through your cord into your energetic system.
So tuning into the rhythm of your own breath with the exhale choosing to release,
With the in-breath choosing to receive.
Visualizing this releasing and receiving through your grounding cord.
With the exhale continuing to release that which doesn't serve you.
And with your inhale allowing the earth energy to weave its way through the whole body,
Extracting it into your cord.
Each cycle of breath bringing you back into your center.
And as you continue to work with these cycles of your breath,
Feeling how it is to be so deeply held by the earth,
By Mama Alpa.
And here you may wish to affirm out loud or internally,
The earth supports me.
The earth supports me.
Taking two more cycles of breath.
After your last cycle of breath,
With your next exhale I invite you to withdraw your cord back into the center of the pelvis,
Holding in this earth energy,
Drawing it back into the body,
Where it can be threaded through the whole energetic system.
As you're ready to do so,
You make your way back up and start to find your way back out of the forest.
Walking back down along the forest trail,
Knowing that you can return to this place whenever you need to.
And then as you're ready,
Letting your next exhale travel back to the heart center.
Breathing from and into the heart.
Calling back in our intention of earthing.
Calling back in a quality of gratitude.
To be thankful for this time we have to yield our energy inward.
We'll close with three deep breaths to offer up our prayers in gratitude to the earth.
On the out-breath we'll exhale through the mouth,
Offering up our deep deep reverence for mama,
Up of support,
Holding,
Nourishment and protection.
Taking a full breath in,
Fill up the lungs.
Exhaling to give thanks.
Taking a deep breath in and exhale.
One more deep breath in and exhaling.
And as you're ready to do so,
You can blink open the eyes,
Inviting the external world back in.
Seeing if you can stay grounded in your center,
Stabilized in your own energy field.
Please take the time you need to integrate your journey before returning back into your day.
Sending love and blessings.
Namaste.
