Welcome to this practice of breathing earth in which we will be using the breath as a portal to release and receive from Gaya,
Mother Earth.
I invite you to find a comfortable seat,
Perhaps elevating the hips to support the extension through the spine.
Transitioning from doing to being,
From thinking to feeling,
Take a moment to land in the temple of your own body to find that rich and tender place of refuge and belonging.
Establishing a seat of receptivity.
You may like to undulate the upper body or rock from side to side,
Moving organically as the body needs until you find you can settle into a natural and easeful sense of alignment.
Inviting in stillness as and when it is ready to emerge,
No rush.
You may like to turn the palms skyward as a gesture of opening to receive Gaya's nourishing and healing resonance.
And as you arrive in stillness,
Visualize yourself as the vessel poised between Mother Earth and Father Sun.
Rooting down through your sit bones into the earth beneath,
Tuning into vast,
Peaceful,
Earthy frequencies.
And as you root,
Can you equally rise up toward the sky through the crown of your head?
Just like a plant,
We anchor through our roots and we rise towards the sunlight.
Now foundations strong and stable,
Grounded in the light of awareness.
Inviting for your attention to further shift inward as you take some deep breaths all the way down into the pelvis.
Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.
Witnessing the expansion of your inhalation and the softening of your exhalation.
And resting your awareness now in a point a few feet into the earth,
Beneath any structures of the building that you may be seated in.
And imagine that you are breathing from this point in the earth and up into your body.
Breathing in the peaceful,
Rooted resonance of the earth.
So that with each in-breath you're filling your body with nurturing earth energy.
And with each out-breath,
Drop down into the earth with your awareness as you clear and let go of stresses,
Anxieties,
Worries.
Anything that may be disturbing your nervous system today.
Breathing in,
Drawing earth energy up and into your body.
Breathing out,
Dropping deeper and deeper into earth with your awareness as you clear your vessel of any stagnancy.
Continuing this breath on your own rhythm,
Inhaling to receive.
Exhaling to release.
Harnessing the gift of the exhale to empty.
To let go of any outdated structures,
Programs or patterns.
Asking the earth to transmute and compost all that you release.
Inhaling to receive.
Exhaling to release.
Allowing the alchemy of the breath to be a purifying presence that comes to wash and nourish your inner cauldron.
And whenever the mind brings in stories or thought,
I invite you to make the conscious choice to come back to this receptive communion and exchange with Mother Earth.
Centering yourself back in her nurturing embrace.
Taking a few more moments here.
Really anchoring this intention of rooting into earth consciousness.
Of being here now.
Of embodying and receiving the gifts of Gaia.
Of allowing her presence to resonate and vibrate through your energy body.
Inhaling to receive.
Exhaling to release.
Take a couple last cycles of breath.
Cleansing,
Restoring,
Recalibrating your system.
And now slowly beginning to return your awareness to your body.
Release the visualization.
Notice the quality of your awareness.
The depth of your roots.
The expansion of the wild untamed self.
Simply listen.
Feel what you feel.
Sense what you're sensing.
Noticing any shifts.
Resting here.
Nothing to do.
Nowhere to be.
To close the practice in the energy of sacred reciprocity of giving back to Gaia and honouring her as a living system of consciousness in which we are part of,
Not separate from.
I invite you to offer her your heartfelt reverence and gratitude in a way that resonates with you.
Perhaps a silent prayer or a gesture to give thanks for her endless holding,
Grounding,
Nourishment and protection that she gifts to us all so abundantly during these turbulent and trying times.
