Wherever you are,

Take a moment to create a space that feels soft and safe.

Let your body be supported,

Whether you're sitting upright with a pillow behind you or lying down with a blanket over your chest.

And when you're ready,

Close your eyes and let your breath begin to deepen,

Inhaling slowly through the nose and exhaling softly through the mouth,

With each breath letting your shoulders drop,

Your jaw relax,

And let your belly hang and expand.

Imagine your body resting in a warm cocoon,

A soft womb-like space where you are completely safe to feel,

To explore,

And to remember.

Breathe here for a few moments,

Letting your body unwind into this container of holding.

Now bring your attention to the place where your heart and your belly meet.

This is your center of feeling.

This is where your story lives,

And your ancestors' stories too.

I'd like you to begin imagining your mother,

Not as the role that she played in your life,

But as the human being that she is.

Imagine your mother with her own mother,

With her own longings,

With her own maybe unmet needs.

You don't have to force anything.

Just notice what arises.

Maybe you feel love,

Maybe grief,

Maybe this tension is somewhere in your body.

And whatever is here,

Let's let it be here,

Because right now you are safe to feel it and be with it.

If it feels right,

You can whisper in your mind,

I see you,

Mom.

Not just as my mother,

But as the child you once were too.

And now let that image zoom out a little bit.

And behind your mother,

Begin to imagine her own,

Your grandmother.

Again,

Not just in her own role,

But in her essence,

Her girlhood,

Her story.

Notice what feelings or images arise.

Again,

Nothing needs to be fixed.

We are simply witnessing,

Observing,

And noticing.

If it feels right,

You can whisper to your grandmother,

I see you too.

I see the ways that you've tried.

And now behind your grandmother,

Begin to call in the women of your lineage,

The mothers of the mothers,

Stretching back through time,

A long line of wounds,

A long line of love and pain,

Resilience and silence,

Sacrifice and survival.

Pause here.

Let your body feel the weight and the wisdom of your maternal lineage.

Maybe they didn't all know how to love gently or warmly.

Maybe they never got to be held.

Maybe they didn't have the language,

The tools,

Or even the space to offer something like repair.

Let's pause here and breathe.

I'd like you to imagine that on every inhale,

You're receiving something from your lineage.

And on the exhale,

You're releasing something from it too.

And let these breaths be intuitive.

Maybe with every inhale you take,

You become more aware of what you're receiving.

Maybe the clarity comes with just a few breaths.

And maybe the same as you exhale and as you release.

Let's name something tender.

For many of us,

The relationship with our mother is our first blueprint for love.

It teaches us what to expect,

What to suppress,

What to fear,

Or what we're worthy of.

So if the love you received felt inconsistent,

Unsafe,

Or even overwhelming,

It's okay if parts of you still ache,

Still hope,

Or still protect.

That's not a weakness,

That's attachment.

That's the longing that every child holds.

To be seen.

To be soothed.

To be safe in the arms of love.

So let's take a moment now to offer the child within you what they didn't get to receive.

Imagine holding them in your arms or sitting by your side.

They may be four,

Or nine,

Or even 17.

They may be angry,

Or shut down,

Or begging to be good enough.

So can you tell them,

You were never too much?

You were never not enough.

You were simply a child craving connection,

And I love you for that.

Place your hand on your heart if it helps,

Or even on your belly,

And just let that part of you be held right now,

Not by your mother,

But by you and the inner mother within you.

Now,

Imagine your entire maternal lineage standing behind you again.

And now that you've been able to see your inner wounding with your mother,

And her inner wounding with her mother,

Use her to notice all of the unmet needs of each child and mother.

All of their stuck stories,

And yet all of their strength.

You see it all with clarity and with confidence,

Trusting that what you sense,

Feel,

Or see is the truth.

Simply say to all of them,

I see what you carried.

I see what you couldn't name.

I see the silence you swallowed,

And the love you didn't know how to give.

I send you all peace.

And as you say this,

You notice a beautiful golden light enveloping your entire maternal lineage.

Gently wrapping around you,

Your mother,

Her mother,

And all the women behind her.

And this golden light has come in to help them receive the love that maybe they never knew how to receive or offer themselves.

You get to remember the pain without becoming it.

You get to choose the story of how you move forward.

Knowledge is your power,

And you are the living edge of this line.

Healing begins with awareness,

Not perfection.

So let's breathe together.

Three slow,

Deep breaths.

Inhale,

And exhale.

Again.

And last one here.

Let yourself slowly begin to come back to the space in the room that you're in.

Wiggling your fingers.

Wiggling your toes.

And feeling your body held by the ground beneath you.

And if your heart feels full or tender,

Know that that's okay.

You've just touched something so sacred.

I suggest grabbing a journal and a pen,

And taking some time to pour out of you what you just discovered.

May you walk today with more compassion for the mother line you came from.

May you remember the wisdom you inherited,

Not just the wounds.

And may you continue to do what you do best.

May you continue to return to your body,

To your breath,

And to the knowing that you are worthy of the love you never fully received.

You are safe.

You are sovereign.

And you are deeply,

Deeply held.

When you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

You are safe.
