This practice is designed to center the artist in their creative core. This is yours to access day or night, to remind you of your true nature and the fact that your artistry is always present within your heart. Enjoy this renewing and encouraging exercise with Karen. This is a revised version of "Centering in Your Artist Heart" released in 2018. In response to consistent comments of listeners, she re-recorded a shorter version of the script, adjusted the volume and decreased the speed to allow for longer moments of reflection.

Welcome to this meditation centering in your artist heart.

It is yours to access at any time,

Day or night,

As a reminder of your true nature.

When you're deep in your creative process,

When you've come to a pause in your creative expression and encountered an obstacle on your path,

When you're not feeling creative or artful,

When you're doubtful about your artistry,

Or when you simply wish to open more deeply into your artistry,

This meditation is a reminder that the artist heart is within you,

A breath away.

Your artistry is always present in your heart.

It's yours to attune to at any moment,

Whether sitting,

Lying,

Or standing,

Whenever you wish to connect with your heart.

In this session,

We'll be seated in a comfortable position on the ground or in a chair.

Slowly bring your awareness to your breath.

Take three deep breaths in and out.

On the first breath,

Inhale and breathe into the top of your lungs and exhale.

On the second breath,

Inhale and breathe into the middle of your chest and exhale.

And on the third breath,

Inhale and bring your breath deeply into your lungs and expand your belly.

Breathe into your belly twice more,

Slowly and deeply,

And relax.

Notice how your chest opens and expands on the inhale and releases as you exhale.

Your breath is a natural rising and falling of your chest as your lungs fill and expel your breath.

Bring your awareness now to the space between the lobes of your lungs,

To the muscle,

The organ that is your heart.

As you breathe in and out,

Notice how your lungs wrap gently around your heart with every inhale.

And notice how they release your heart with every exhale.

Inhale and embrace the heart.

Exhale and release the heart.

This breathing in and out of your lungs and the pumping of blood through your heart make a really beautiful partnership.

A lovely and compatible dance.

As you continue breathing,

Attune to your heart until you can almost feel the beating within your chest.

Bring your focus to this place,

Your inner eyes,

Your inner ears,

Your inner touch to this place inside your heart,

And settle there,

Feeling your way into your heartbeat.

Your heartbeat has been with you since conception,

Since your journey through the birth canal,

Since birth and since your earliest days of life.

It has grown up with you and has been accompanying you all along,

Quietly,

Steadily beating.

Whether you attune to it at a very young age or at a later one,

Allow yourself to attune to it now as if for the very first time.

Notice that as you attune your senses to your heartbeat,

It begins to beat more surely.

Your intuition will guide you to it.

Your intuition is this very centered beating.

Every time you attune is the first time.

It is always new.

Your awareness is always new.

The very nature of your attuning is like watering a garden,

Like lighting a room.

Attuning to your heartbeat brings you into alignment.

As you bring the light of your awareness into this place of your artist heart,

Notice how it begins to speak to you.

As you lean into this space,

Let it whisper to you.

Whether it's a creative choice you have before you,

An artistic venture you're about to embark on,

Clarity you seek,

Inspiration for a new idea,

A project,

A piece of art,

A new way of art,

A new story,

A new voice,

Listen and you will hear the affirmation you seek.

This is the sacred space.

This is the safe sanctuary you can access whenever you feel the urge.

Inside your heart there is this pulse of your true self and all your wisdom and true knowing.

This is the place of your heart's content and your art's content.

Trust what you know,

That this unique beat has always,

Is now and will forever animate your being.

You are the born artist.

You are vibrating according to your own inner compass,

Your own unique composition,

Individual pulse and sacred song which has been with you patient and abiding.

This is who you are by nature.

This is your natural state.

You just sitting at the center of yourself and tuning into the great interior expansiveness of who you are,

To the infinitude of you.

Any time you want you can come into this space,

Breathe yourself,

Grieve yourself,

Relieve yourself into it.

Connect with this beat,

This animating life force that is you,

Born artist,

Life artist.

As you practice attuning your heart,

Your wise and ancient center,

No matter what's going on around you,

You'll attune to the heartbeat of others,

To the pulse of the trees,

Animals,

Insects,

The rocks and oceans,

The heavens.

You'll connect your heart with theirs,

With everything around you and with the pulse at the center of the earth.

The more familiar you become with this place,

With this voice inside you,

The more you'll notice your life,

Your choices,

Thoughts and feelings align with this internal compass of yours.

With your own unique landscape and your map,

Your artist heart will begin to guide your life and consciousness with less and less effort on your part,

Simply by nature.

So stay here as long as you like,

Breathing into this space,

Into this chest of treasure.

When you're ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Place your hands over your heart and seal in your practice.

Link your heart,

Your artist heart,

Always in service to your life.
