Hello,

This is Kambiz Nafisi,

Meditation master and spiritual guide.

Today,

I'll speak to you about the power of your beliefs.

A belief is something that you hold to be true,

But it may not be true as far as the utter reality of this moment.

So in a comical way,

I'll say,

If you're sitting next to a tree,

And from the corner of your eye,

You mistake a branch for a snake.

Even though that branch is not a snake,

If you see a snake from the corner of your eye,

You may give yourself a heart attack with fear.

So belief is what you hold to be true.

Now,

The entire quality of your day depends on your beliefs.

In other words,

If we take you on a cruise to Waikiki,

Hawaii,

And show you the most beautiful scenery,

If your belief on that beach is that you are unlucky,

Or unattractive,

Or too fat,

The beauty of Waikiki Beach is not going to help you.

So whatever beliefs you're holding in your mind totally determines the quality of your life and the quality of your day.

In fact,

Everything you've ever experienced in your life must first pass through the filter of your beliefs.

Let's imagine that you think yourself to be unattractive,

And then you go to a cappuccino bar on a Sunday morning to have your coffee and pastry,

And a very,

Very attractive person smiles at you.

If your belief is that you are not attractive,

You will not see the other person's welcoming smile.

You're either going to not see the smile,

Or you're going to distort that reality and think that that other attractive person is smiling at somebody who's sitting behind you.

So you either don't see the smile,

Or you distort the reality of that smile.

This is called selective perception.

Selective perception means you only see what you want to see.

I remember several months ago,

I was speaking to a lady who was working with me on her self-transformation,

And she said,

Kambiz,

When I was six months pregnant,

Whenever I would walk to downtown,

I would only see other pregnant women.

This is called selective perception.

You only see what you want to see.

So if you have a lot of poverty consciousness,

When you walk downtown,

You're going to notice the homeless people more than you notice the Cadillac limousines.

That's selective perception.

We all live in a self-created prison,

And the four walls of that prison are our beliefs.

It's like almost 9 billion people on the planet Earth,

And everybody's walking around with their own virtual reality mask on.

In other words,

People are seeing the street,

They're seeing the present moment,

They're seeing their loved ones from behind the lens of their own self-created beliefs.

Therefore,

The highest potential that you can ever achieve is within the confines of those four walls,

Meaning the structure of your current beliefs.

The people who grow are the ones who are willing to step beyond the comfort zone of their present beliefs.

Now,

You have a mind that controls 80% of your life that's called the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind is very,

Very powerful.

It's much more powerful than your intellectual mind,

And that subconscious mind is the storage house of your oldest,

Oldest,

Most deeply rooted beliefs.

Those predictable,

Repetitive,

Deeply rooted beliefs become what we call your comfort zone.

Those are the beliefs that you're comfortable with.

For example,

How much should I weigh?

How much money can I make per month?

How attractive am I?

Every aspect of my self-image rests within a comfort zone that I'm used to.

Now,

When you want to step beyond what you are used to,

The subconscious mind is going to put up a lot of fear and resistance.

This is why we're saying that the people who grow a lot during a lifetime recognize what the subconscious mind is.

They recognize what a comfort zone is,

And using breathing,

Meditation,

Positive affirmations,

Visualizations,

Which I'll describe later,

They purposely step beyond the comfort zone of their current belief systems.

What about self-sabotage?

What is that?

Self-sabotage comes from a belief.

For example,

How deserving do you feel of love?

How deserving do you feel of wealth and comfort?

How deserving are you of a healthy,

Long life?

Depending on where your thermostat of deservingness is at,

You will either sabotage yourself or you'll accept the best that life has to offer.

Everybody that I've ever met has a joy thermostat in their mind.

The joy thermostat determines how much of the good things in life you can accept without sabotaging your success.

Whenever you're sabotaging yourself,

There is a belief behind your self-sabotage.

If you're procrastinating,

If you're smoking too much,

If you're eating too much junk food,

There is a belief behind eating junk food.

There is a belief behind always lacking money.

And one way of getting over those self-limiting beliefs is to ask yourself two questions.

Number one,

What will happen to my life if I continue sabotaging myself?

Number two,

How much will my life improve if I stop sabotaging myself?

Both those questions will be very impactful.

Now,

I'm going to give you some techniques for changing old self-limiting negative beliefs that are holding you back.

Number one,

I'd like to teach you to work with your body.

What do I mean?

If you start walking or sitting as if the top of your head is suspended from the ceiling,

This image will automatically straighten up your spine and you'll just have a natural erect posture.

So imagine this.

Imagine there's a hook at the crown of your head and from that hook you are suspended from the ceiling.

When you imagine being suspended from the sky or from the ceiling,

Your spine will just become straight.

You're not slouching over.

Second suggestion,

Put on a smile even when you're not feeling so great.

A smile involves 13 muscles in your face.

Those 13 muscles send a direct message to your subconscious mind that I am okay and I will be okay.

It is impossible to be very anxious,

Fearful,

And depressed when there's a smile on your face.

So we're not talking about acting like a false person.

We're simply saying that a slight smile on the face penetrates your mind and gives your mind the message that all will be fine.

So two techniques so far.

Imagine that you're suspended from the sky.

That'll make you sit and walk in a more straight fashion.

Number two,

Just a slight smile on your face.

Number three,

Walk 25% faster.

When you walk faster,

You're sending the message to your subconscious mind that I have a goal,

I am going places,

And I will arrive at my destination.

So walk 25% faster.

The last hint,

Instead of looking down at your shoes,

At the tips of your shoes,

Instead of looking down at the sidewalk,

Look at the horizon.

So here's a summary.

Imagine that you're suspended from the sky from the top of your head.

Number two,

Put on a smile.

Number three,

Walk 25% faster.

Number four,

Look at the horizon instead of the tips of your shoe.

Other techniques.

The next technique is called constructive questioning.

Whenever you have a negative thought,

Like I will never make money,

I am too fat,

I am unattractive,

Use this technique.

It's called constructive questioning.

Whenever you have that negative thought,

Pause,

Breathe,

And then ask yourself,

Is that thought really true?

Am I sure that that's true?

What if the opposite is true?

That's called constructive questioning.

The next technique.

Collect real evidence to the contrary of any negative thoughts that you have about yourself.

So if you think you're unattractive,

Go back to the age of 15 up until now,

And collect evidence about any time that somebody was attracted to you.

When most people do this,

They find tons of evidence,

Real evidence,

Contrary to their negative thinking.

Now,

Once you collect a lot of real evidence contrary to your negative thinking,

Then your heart is going to get it that you are valuable,

You are worthwhile,

That at some points in your life you have made money.

Some points in your life you have really been healthy.

Once your heart gets it,

Then we come to the next technique.

The next technique is actively collect success episodes.

What do I mean by this?

If you've never made more than $3,

000,

Actively pursue the experience of making $4,

000.

Once you have a direct experience of a success episode,

That cuts right into your old belief system and you start creating a new belief system that there is no ceiling to the amount of happiness and prosperity that you can have.

Another example,

I had a student who acted as if he was somebody else when he first went on a date.

He was too afraid to be himself.

So then I had him merge with his breath.

I had him follow his breath movement during the first 20 minutes on a new date.

As he was following his breath,

He got distracted from his fears and for the first 20 minutes he started being himself on a new date.

And then all of a sudden there was this aha moment like,

Oh my god,

I'm in front of this attractive lady and for 20 minutes I've just been myself.

That's a success episode.

Next technique,

Imagine that your life will only last one more week.

In other words,

Take time away from yourself.

Imagining that you have one magnificent week left,

Do all the things that would have brought you joy that you didn't do.

You see,

Most people don't break through their comfort zone because their ego,

Their mind thinks that they have all the time in the world.

That's not true.

Life is actually pretty short.

Now in this technique of imagining one magnificent week,

We're not depressing ourselves.

We're not making ourselves depressed.

We're simply taking time away and acknowledging that opportunities for joy are few.

In other words,

Our life is short.

You never know.

And therefore,

In this technique,

Just visualize,

Just visualize that you're going to spend seven magnificent days,

That you're going to go beyond the comfort zone,

You're going to step into joy,

You're going to step into healthy excitement,

You're going to step into healthy and safe risk-taking.

So you're going to be alive for seven days because that's how long your life is.

When you do this,

You realize that your subconscious mind lets go of your self-limiting comfort zone,

You step into new boundaries,

And you start experiencing new success episodes.

The next technique,

Visualization.

Your subconscious mind that controls 80% of your life doesn't understand spoken language.

It understands imagery.

It understands emotions.

If you feel like you're unattractive,

If that's your illusion,

Once in a while,

Close your eyes and create a mental cartoon of somebody that you like being very attracted to you.

Now,

In that mental cartoon,

Employ smell,

Touch,

Taste,

Hearing,

And the visual scenes.

When you bring your five senses to the visualization,

Your mind and your body believe that visualization as if it's utter reality.

It's very,

Very powerful.

So do these types of visualizations regarding the life that you want.

Do them once or twice a day.

They can only last a minute if you'd like.

I hope this talk has been helpful to you.

I'm wishing you the best.

Step beyond your comfort zone and you're going to experience a very new life.

God bless.

Godspeed.
