Hello,
This is Kambiz Nafisi,
Meditation Master and Spiritual Guide.
I often have students and friends complaining that they're not feeling good about their meditation.
Somebody will say,
I get a headache every time I try to meditate.
Some people say,
I have pressure between my eyebrows.
Some people say,
I'm just thinking about my daily life.
I'm too worried about my grandmother.
Meditation cannot be like this.
Meditation cannot be like that.
I want to tell you that if there's some voice inside you making comments about how your meditation should be or should not be,
That is not meditation.
You start to meditate when you become a mirror of whatever happens during your meditation.
There's nobody commenting about what is going on in your meditation and whether what is going on in your meditation is good or bad.
Imagine every time you meditate,
You just become a complete mirror.
It's called beingness.
Beingness means while you're meditating,
You are just a mirror reflecting everything that's going on in your meditation without interference,
Without judgment.
I mention this because a lot of people who meditate with me start to become aggravated or discouraged because some voice inside them says,
This is not the way I should be feeling during my meditation.
Why am I thinking of my little sister?
Why am I worried about my mortgage?
That voice that's criticizing what's going on in your meditation,
That voice doesn't belong to the realm of meditation.
The next time you meditate,
Adopt the image,
Adopt the quality of a mirror that is completely in the now,
Intensely in the present moment and completely accepting of anything that happens to come along in your meditation,
Body pain,
Passing thoughts,
Passing emotions.
There is no person present during meditation that is making a commentary about his or her preferences about the quality of meditation.
Just a mirror.
