Learn to live with a soft heart and an open mind. Stop living in autopilot mode and live mindfully. Watch the present moment unfold before you and you will live with more creativity, vitality, and loving energy. Spiritual guide and meditation master, Kambiz Naficy, explains what mindfulness and mindfulness practice are. Introduced by Buddhism, mindfulness encourages you to pay intentional attention to the present moment. Breathing mindfully and daily meditation are two tools that heighten your state of mindfulness. When you live in the present moment, each moment unfolds and blossoms before you, but your conditioned subconscious mind is blocking the freshness of this moment with old beliefs, habits, and kneejerk reactions.

Hello,

This is Kambiz Nafisi,

Spiritual guide and meditation master.

I wanted to speak to you about mindfulness and what mindfulness is.

The concept of mindfulness,

Paying intentional attention to the present moment,

Was introduced to humankind by Buddhism.

Mindfulness results in you living in harmony with yourself,

With society,

And with nature.

Mindfulness is a clear and intentional appreciation of each moment unfolding.

What mindfulness practice does is it bypasses the conditioned subconscious mind that is controlling more than 80% of your life.

The subconscious is a storage house of all past habits,

Knee-jerk reactions,

And any beliefs that you have stuffed into your unconscious that keep popping back today if something triggers them.

Anybody who's being controlled by the subconscious is on autopilot mode.

Because the subconscious is a storage house of all habits,

Every time old memories,

Old habits,

And personal beliefs come to the surface,

They cover the freshness of the moment and what the moment is trying to tell you.

Quick example,

If you've gotten poverty consciousness and money worries from your mom,

And that's in your subconscious,

Then we can take you to watch sundown at the Grand Canyon and your money worries will surface and cover up the beauty of the Grand Canyon,

So you're not experiencing the freshness of the moment.

With mindfulness practice,

And meditation is a part of this,

Layers and layers of your mind,

Your ego,

And your subconscious conditioning start to be peeled off so you can get in touch with your natural whole self.

You will come out of autopilot mode.

So mindfulness is an intentional paying of attention to the needs of this moment.

Every moment has a need.

If you go to a birthday,

A funeral,

And a wedding on the same day,

Each of these ceremonies demands different things from you.

So you need to be attentive to each one of these ceremonies.

Now attention itself carries the creative force or the God force.

In other words,

If you pay a lot of attention to your son,

Your son will grow up to be self-loving and confident.

If you pay attention to your roses,

Your roses will blossom and be healthy.

So attention directs and channels the life force and the God force.

So when you pay attention to the moment,

The moment will blossom before you,

And your life will become more authentic,

Creative,

And vital.

By paying attention to the moment through mindfulness,

You invite grace.

You start to feel truly alive.

So mindfulness is the art of intentional and conscious living beyond the past conditioning of your subconscious mind.

Now mindful living is not as simple as it sounds because of three main factors.

Number one,

The material world around us is full of distractions,

Shopping centers,

Social media,

International news,

Wall Street,

And the state of the economy.

All of those things grab our attention and we stop being mindful.

Secondly,

The human being has five senses,

And our five senses of touch,

Smell,

Sight,

Hearing,

So forth,

They are automatically attracted to anything that attracts them.

So if you walk into a shopping center at Christmas time,

Your five senses are going wild looking at the shop displays and smelling the food of the restaurants.

So the five senses are constantly grabbing your attention and putting your attention on material objects.

And then we have the third issue,

Which is your subconscious mind.

And that subconscious mind,

As I said before,

Has been programmed and conditioned by past memories,

By your personal beliefs,

By knee-jerk reactions.

So anything that you've stuffed in your subconscious keeps rising up to the surface and covers up the beauty of the present moment.

Through meditation,

You step out of the rushing river of life in society.

You take 20 minutes of time for quiet observation of your mind,

Your emotions,

Your physical sensations,

Without being attached to them.

And our great teacher the Buddha said,

If you sit quietly,

You step out of that rushing river of life,

And you close your eyes,

You follow the breath,

And you quietly observe any thoughts,

Emotions,

Physical sensations,

Moods.

Through quiet observation,

All of these layers,

Unnecessary layers,

Self-limiting layers of beliefs,

Knee-jerk reactions,

Bad memories,

All of them melt away,

They give way,

So that what's left is this wise higher self,

Your authentic self,

Who is a quiet observer of life.

And that higher self is full of wisdom.

So my friend,

I wish you a life of mindfulness,

Stay with your meditation practice,

Follow your breath mindfully,

And you will see that you're coming alive,

You have more creativity,

You have more energy,

And you're appreciating your loved ones around you.
