Take 8 minutes out of your day to set yourself free from unpleasant emotions. It’s ok to feel overwhelmed, stressed, pressured, or anxious. These are all normal feelings that are meant to come and go but many of us get stuck in these emotions. So we will notice how we are feeling at this moment. No longer running away. Together,

Let's hit the pause button on our day,

Sitting in a comfortable chair with the feet flat on the ground.

Bring one hand to the belly and the other hand to the heart,

Or simply rest your hands in your lap,

And invite the breath to fill up the belly like a balloon,

Then sigh the breath out through the mouth three times.

Without judgment,

Begin to notice how you are feeling in this moment.

It's ok to feel overwhelmed,

Stressed,

Pressured or anxious.

These are all normal feelings that are meant to come and go.

To ebb and flow,

But it's not uncommon to get stuck in these emotions.

So just name the emotion you are feeling in this moment.

Instead of running away from this feeling,

Look it in its eyes.

Give it your full attention and ask it what is your message?

What lesson am I supposed to learn from you?

As you continue to allow the breath to fill up the belly like a balloon with each inhalation,

Squeeze out every drop of air with the exhalation.

Avoiding our unpleasant feelings and stress may help us get through a difficult day or week,

But it can be a destructive habit which increases our stress in the long run.

Our feelings show us who we are,

And when we avoid looking at what we feel,

We literally abandon ourselves,

Removing the ability to learn what our feelings are telling us.

When we allow our feelings and look at them without judgment,

We not only learn from them,

But we also find that our feelings will move on.

Once we have learned the message,

The feelings are no longer needed.

Now take some time to encourage yourself with a supportive affirmation.

Saying I am doing my best,

Exhaling and it is enough,

I am doing my best,

And it is enough.

Sending love and compassion into your heart.

Feel the warmth of the hand over your heart,

And begin to cultivate gratitude for these emotions and the lessons they brought,

Reminding yourself I can handle this feeling and manage my day.

No longer judging yourself for having these emotions.

These feelings are simply messengers,

Bringing valuable lessons and allowing us to experience radical acceptance and love.

Stay here as long as you need to,

Until you are filled up and ready to face the rest of your day.

I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes.

She had finally allowed her negative feelings to surface.

Feelings that had been repressed for years in her soul.

She had actually felt them,

And they were no longer necessary.

They could leave.

You really can set yourself free,

Every time uncomfortable feelings rise to the surface.
