Do you ever wonder where you're going in life and start asking those soul searching questions?
Who am I?
Why am I really here?
Well I invite you to join me on this short meditation and maybe gain some clarity to these soul searching questions.
So sit or lie comfortably,
Uncross your legs and allow your hands to fall to your side or rest on your lap and breathe deeply.
On that next cycle of breath maybe lengthen your spine and relax your shoulders.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Close your eyes,
Soften your face,
Your jaw and allow your breath to find its natural rhythm.
Now picture yourself riding inside a luxurious train.
Perhaps you're alone or maybe with someone who loves and supports you,
Present or past.
It could even be a pet.
This train is taking you back in time to a special place,
Gently rocking you back and forth.
Hear the rhythmic chugging sounds along the tracks.
Feel those soft velvety seats.
The faster you travel,
See the landscape just outside the window blur into streams of color and bring to mind a time when you were a child joyfully playing,
Carefree,
Completely absorbed in bliss.
Remember as many details as you can,
Who you're with or if you were alone,
Textures,
Sounds,
Sensations.
This carefree sense of joy you're remembering,
This was a time when you were completely connected to your soul.
You knew exactly who you were,
Why you were there and where you were going.
The train stops,
Waiting for you at the station is your childhood self.
Step off the train and greet your younger self.
Look deep into their eyes and ask them,
Who do you want to be when you grow up?
And listen for the answer.
Your younger self reaches into their pocket and offers you a familiar object.
This object represents how you tap into your truth.
What does that look like for you?
And what's possible when you do tap into the truth?
Thank your childhood self and find your way back to the train.
And as you journey back to this present moment,
Contemplate how you can tap into your truth as an adult,
Who you are now and where you're going are different than when you were young,
But how you tap into that truth is the same.
So when you're trying to find your answers,
Remember this gift from your younger self and your truth will be revealed.
American poet Henry David Thoreau reassures us,
Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.
Breathe deeply here,
Slowly become aware of this present moment,
Gently stretching your arms and legs.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
