Welcome to day six of our practice together.
This is Justin Michael Williams,
And you're almost done with this journey.
I can't believe that tomorrow is our last day together in this form,
And I'm so excited for you.
And so I'm ready to tell you one of my favorite tales.
The story goes like this.
Once upon a time,
Long,
Long ago,
There was known to be a great river.
And this great river was known far and wide throughout all the land to have the biggest fish that anybody had ever seen.
And so this young fisherman traveled for four days and four nights to get to the great river.
And he arrived at the riverbank,
And he was gathering all of his materials and getting ready.
And he looked across the riverbank and saw an older gentleman.
And this older gentleman was throwing his fishing line into the river,
And he reeled in a fish.
And the younger fisherman is watching with anticipation as he sees the older gentleman reeling in something that felt like the biggest fish he had ever seen because of how hard he was struggling.
And the older gentleman pulls in this big,
Beautiful fish.
And it's the biggest fish the young fisherman has ever seen.
So his eyes light up because he realizes that he's come to the right place.
But then the older gentleman throws the fish back into the river.
And the younger fisherman is looking at this older gentleman and saying,
Why would he do that?
Why would he throw this fish back into the river?
And then he just watches,
And right away,
He sees the older gentleman reeling in another fish.
And he's like,
Oh,
My God,
Reeling in another fish,
Struggling even harder.
And the older gentleman pulls in an even bigger fish.
It's the biggest fish the younger fisherman has ever seen.
And then the older gentleman throws that fish back into the river too.
And so finally,
The younger fisherman is fed up,
And he's like,
Okay,
What is going on?
I need to go talk to this man because I don't understand why he's doing this.
And just as he runs across the riverbank and goes to go up to the older gentleman,
The older gentleman pulls in another big fish.
It's an even bigger fish,
The biggest one he's caught yet.
And the younger fisherman says,
Stop,
Wait.
How come you keep catching these big,
Beautiful fish,
But you keep throwing them back into the river?
And then he said this,
Which I want you to listen carefully to.
The younger fisherman asked the older gentleman,
Isn't this what you came?
And the older gentleman sizes up the big fish that's in his hands,
Looks back at the younger fisherman and says,
Well,
Young man,
Although this fish may be big,
And it may be beautiful,
It's too big for my frying pan.
So I'm just trying to wait here.
And I've been here for days.
I'm trying to wait until I get a smaller fish.
Now,
This sounds ridiculous,
But this is what we do with our dreams.
Dreams and visions and ideas from all the way back when we were young flow through our minds,
Through the river of consciousness.
And we look at these dreams and we say,
Wow,
That for my life,
But it's too big for my frying pan.
It's too big for my circumstances.
It's too big for someone like me.
It's too big for someone who grew up like I did.
It's too big for someone of my size,
Of my color,
Of my gender,
Of my fill in the blank.
It's too big for my circumstances.
And those circumstances are your frying pan.
And so when we think about this fisherman story,
There's so many things that we know the older gentleman could have done.
He could have obviously got a bigger frying pan,
But more importantly,
He could share the fish.
And remember,
He doesn't have to do it all alone.
And this is the power and reason of why we do this work together in community.
Because it's not just sometimes that the fish feels too big,
But it's that after carrying it on your own for so long,
The frying pan can sometimes get too heavy.
And when we have community,
Even just one other person to support us,
And we recognize that we don't have to do it all ourselves,
That is when we start to awaken to our greatest source of power.
A part of self-sabotage and holding ourselves back is thinking that we have to keep it all in and do it all alone.
Expand beyond your circumstances,
Babe,
Because the things that you've dealt with in your life do not have to stop you from the greatness of who it is that you can become.
And ask and allow yourself to receive help.
Ask for help and allow yourself to receive it.
So this leads me to our practice today,
Which is gonna be very different than the practices we've done before.
And I'm so excited because you are ready for this.
I'd like you to find a comfortable way to sit.
Soften your body 5% more.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out and close your eyes or soften them if you're comfortable doing so.
With me now,
We'll do the three count breath.
The same one we did yesterday.
Inhale for three,
Hold for three and exhale for three.
Start by taking a deep breath in to align us and a deep breath out.
Now with me to the count of three,
Inhale for one,
Two,
Three,
Hold for one,
Two,
Three,
Exhale one,
Two and three.
Again,
Inhale one,
Deeper,
Two,
Three,
Hold for one,
Two,
Three,
Exhale one.
Last time,
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Hold for one,
Two,
Three,
Exhale one.
And now I want you to recognize that no matter how much we do or accomplish or achieve in our lives,
There's always that child version of ourselves inside who just wants to know that they're not for what they do,
But for who they are.
And so I want you now to imagine a childhood version of yourself.
Imagine a childhood version of yourself.
At any age,
Just trust what comes up and notice what you're wearing,
What you look like,
Where you are,
Around what age you might've landed at.
And I want you to think of a message that you have for that childhood version of yourself.
What would the you today say as a message of love and wisdom and support to the childhood you?
What message did they need to hear?
Repeat that message in your heart a few times.
Turn your palms face up and breathe in deep.
And just notice the feeling inside of you right now.
And so keeping your childhood self close,
I want you to repeat these words with me.
I am ready.
I am worthy.
I am powerful.
I deserve this life.
I am ready.
I am worthy.
I am powerful.
I deserve this life.
Ready.
I am worthy.
I deserve this life.
And think of the message that you had for your childhood self.
What is it that you wanna make sure they know?
This is healing.
We've been doing healing from the future forward.
And this is healing from the past,
Right here in the now at the center of infinity.
Go ahead and take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
And when you're ready,
I invite you to open your eyes.
It's time to write in the comments because just like the story started,
We can't and we won't do this alone.
We do this together in community.
So I would love for you to share in the comments how that practice was for you.
Don't forget the message that you had for your childhood self.
It is such a joy to practice with you.
And we are going into our final day,
Day seven tomorrow.
And I'm so excited to be with you for this practice because the next practice is all about how you take action and what you do to continue this work in your life when this challenge is over because that's when the real work begins.
All right,
I love you all and I'll be with you in the next practice.
Bye for now.

"I am enough as I am. I deserve to receive love and generosity. I deserve to receive love and generosity in the ways that are meaningful to me. I do not have to change to receive love and generosity. I am deserving of it as I am." Some of the great insight that came up through this practice tonight. Thank you for leading this!
