I hear people talk about reaching an altered state of consciousness during meditation.
I do not have that sensation at all.
If anything,
Just a feeling of slight relaxation.
Is this okay?
Yes,
It is okay.
So what I'm saying,
Even if you feel an altered state of consciousness,
Do not be afraid of it.
So when you close your eyes and you are totally relaxed for a long period of time,
It feels almost as if it's similar to sleeping.
It's almost you are lucid dreaming and a lot of things that has been in your subconscious,
A lot of thoughts,
A lot of things about the future come to the surface.
But what we are saying is that when these things happen,
Do not imbue them with any meaning.
I said do not consider them bad or good.
Do not be fearful or do not even desire it.
Just let them be.
So what I'm saying,
Whatever situation you find yourself,
Whatever phenomena you experience during meditation,
Just let them be.
Do not imbue them with any meaning.
When we relax with our eyes closed,
First we feel sleepy.
After a few days,
Your legs ache.
And you get a lot of abstract thoughts come to you.
And what we tend to do is create narratives out of these thoughts.
So in a way,
Our mind just kind of drifts away,
Is pulled away.
But despite all this interference or distractions,
All you're trying to do is focus on the breath.
So all these symptoms or phenomena that happens to you,
There's a cause for them to happen to you.
So don't mind them too much.
And even a thought for them to happen to you,
Do not think,
I wish this would happen to me or I wish that would happen to me.
So if something does happen to you,
Whatever phenomena that is,
They're there because there's a cause to be there.
So don't mind them too much.
Just focus on the breath.
So whatever phenomena you experience,
They're there to happen because they happen naturally,
Because there's a cause to it.
So just because you experience them,
You shouldn't worry about,
Why am I not experiencing this?
