During the meditation,
The delusion came up,
And when I looked closely,
It was my past.
I noticed it and focused on my breathing.
But I keep thinking of another past.
Am I obsessed with.
.
.
I noticed it and focused on my breathing.
I noticed it and focused on my breathing.
But I keep thinking of another past.
Am I obsessed with.
.
.
I noticed it and focused on my breathing.
But I keep thinking of another past.
Am I obsessed with.
.
.
I noticed it and focused on my breathing.
I think you're being obsessing over your own delusions.
Because your memories of the past,
It's bound to come up when you close your eyes and meditate.
You have to prevent yourself from imbuing those images with any meaning.
So what you're doing,
You're actually imbuing those images or memories with meaning and actually examining what types of memories you have.
That is attachment,
That is obsession.
So I guess as a consequence,
You are obsessing over your past.
So what I'm trying to say,
You're not obsessing over the past just because you are obsessing over the thoughts of the past during meditation.
You are obsessing over the thoughts of the past because you are already obsessing over the past.
So I say you dreamt that you just woke up from a dream,
And if you're imbuing your dream with that meaning,
Then you're obsessing over the dream.
But if you're a spiritual practitioner,
You've got to wake up from a dream and say,
Oh,
That was just a dream,
Just a piece of a dream.
And do not try to imbue it with any meaning analysis.
So in other words,
Now everybody goes through this.
Everybody thinks about their past.
But if you imbue those thoughts of the past with meaning,
Then you are obsessing over your past.
However,
If you're obsessed over your past,
You dismiss it.
You don't imbue that with any meaning.
Because if you imbue something with a meaning,
You create narratives around it.
And that is delusion.
That is distraction.
But if you have thoughts from the past,
But you don't imbue it with any meaning,
Then you don't create narratives around it.
It just becomes a distracting noise that you just let go and dismiss out of hand,
Like a noise from the outside.
Just a thought like a sound of a cicada is crying outside of a tree.
It's just noise.
You don't imbue it with any meaning.
So these are distracting thoughts.
If you don't imbue it with meaning,
It just rises and falls,
Rises and falls,
Comes into being and disappears.
I am just focused here and now.
And the only thing that's happening here and now is breath in,
Breath out.
And I don't imbue anything else other than that with any meaning.
That's why I'm not bothered too much by any thoughts from the past or any ideas about the future.
Because they are just noise,
White noise behind in the background.
Then just relax your body and mind,
And despite what comes unbidden to your head,
All you are focused is on your breath.
And after a while in this state,
You become totally relaxed and comfortable in your body,
In your mind,
And all emotions,
All sadness,
Grief,
All that will melt away.
So whatever it is,
What really matters is the now.
Because once everything is past,
It's just in the past.
It's not that big a deal.
So when you meditate,
You're basically saying to yourself,
Even now,
There's nothing wrong.
