Are you ready to join me on this journey?
Let's do it.
Hello,
Lovely.
It is Julie here with you today in this solo-sowed to talk about my top 48 tips to being your USU.
So first of all,
It has been such an honor being on this journey with you.
As we head into the end of the year,
I just want to thank you so much.
I'm so grateful for you being with me,
For being on this path of really listening to so many amazing luminaries and experts and leaders and others that are teaching all of us ways to be our best selves,
To be your USU,
For me to be my me-est me.
And I don't take that lightly.
And I just wanted to let you know that it is a gift to be in your earbuds,
To be with you,
To be on your journey with you.
And I'm hoping that this episode today is going to really help you as you reflect on your year,
As we get ready for the new year coming right around the corner.
And I want to share,
So you might be wondering like,
Why Julie did you pick 48?
What the heck?
Where did that come from?
So you might've figured it out.
I chose 48 because I just turned 48.
And I really wanted to specifically be out there and comfortable talking about my age and about the lessons that I've learned.
And this kind of stems from me.
I can tell you that when I,
Before starting my business,
I had a career in television,
Hosting,
Commercials,
Commercial modeling,
That whole world.
While it was on the side,
I did that for quite a while.
And one of the things I remember being told is from my casting agents,
From those that would coach me in what to say and what to put on your resume.
And when you would be asked about your age,
I was always told,
Do not tell your age,
Whatever you do,
Do not tell your age.
And I get it,
In that world,
Some of the importance is to have an age range.
But what I didn't like is that I felt like I was always being told to hide part of myself or that it was something to be ashamed of or not to be upfront about.
And I got to tell you,
My friend,
I am really flipping grateful to be here for all 48 years,
Hopefully for many,
Many,
Many more.
And I'm just going to encourage you,
I'm sharing this because I'm going to encourage you,
Especially if you've been told,
Whether it's overtly or covertly,
Or in some way just through society,
Not to own your age,
Not to tell your age,
Not to let people know.
I'm just a stand for being open and honest and owning it and being grateful.
Owning the smile lines that I have on my face that you might have,
Being really okay with whatever that age is.
And I always think,
First of all,
What is the alternative?
Second of all,
I don't know about you,
I would not want to go backwards.
And I think if you're here with me,
You've been listening and tuning in,
Your goal is to be your best self,
To tap into your gifts,
Your strengths,
Your intuition,
Your higher self,
Your USU.
What I know about you,
Because I know we're on this path together,
Is it's about raising consciousness and awareness and increasing our wisdom and the ability to really own all of it.
And I'm going to just share what I have been spending a few weeks really processing.
I really wanted to do this episode on these specific 48 lessons and nuggets of wisdom and tips that I really hope are going to help you.
Maybe it'll help you from not having to do as much of a challenging time or dark night of the soul.
I can tell you,
I'm certainly somebody who learns mainly experiential.
And so I'm going to be sharing what I have found to be most helpful for me.
These lessons are ones that I and tips I try to follow as often as possible daily in my life,
In all that I do.
So it is my desire to share this in hopes that it will help you,
Inspire you,
Impact you at the highest level.
Of course,
Love hearing your feedback.
So after you listen,
First of all,
Congratulations.
If you get to the end of this,
To all 48,
We'd love to hear which ones did you resonate most with?
What was one or two of the tips that really inspired you?
I'd love to hear.
You can share on YouTube.
You can share on YouTube.
You can share it in the Facebook,
The USU Facebook community.
Drop me an email.
And as always,
Appreciate you so much.
Thank you for listening,
For tuning in.
Of course,
Rating and reviewing is always so,
So appreciated.
And most importantly,
My friend,
Thank you for being on this journey with me,
Especially over this past year in 2022,
And really honored and excited for what's coming up in 2023.
A lot of amazing guests coming.
And here's to you taking these tips and hopefully applying them in a way that's going to just elevate your experience on the planet.
So,
All right,
Without further ado,
Here we go.
I'm just going to do my best to go through these as succinctly as possible.
And I will also,
Part of my gift is to share these in the show notes.
So if you miss anything,
I got you covered.
All right,
They will be listed there,
And you can go back and reflect at any time.
All right,
So here we go.
Number one.
Number one,
And these are not in a particular order,
Although the first one I will say was the first lesson that came to me was just hands down,
This is my most important one.
And I will say that it is number one,
Trusting my intuition,
Trusting your intuition,
Trusting your inner wisdom,
That inner knowing,
Really allowing that to guide your life.
That is number one.
Number two,
We're going to move on to honoring your body as a sacred temple.
This is one that has taken years for me to learn.
And what I mean by that is honoring it by choosing foods that are nourishing,
That are loving.
So for me,
For example,
And what I mean by that,
Getting a little deeper is foods that are,
That are,
You know,
Those whole foods that are healthy,
Nutritious,
Nourishing,
That come from soil that wasn't treated chemically,
That,
You know,
Is that is going to add value to my body,
That's going to give me the most optimal nutrition.
And I know all of our bodies are different.
So for some of you,
That might be just plants,
For some it might be meat and other things like that.
I have found that just being loving to my body with what foods I choose that are nourishing,
And,
And really sticking to that in that lane has made a huge difference in my health.
And lovingly release foods that are not good for my body.
And shifting that perspective rather than dieting or trying to make my body be a certain way.
I like to look at it from the lens of love.
So that's number two.
All right,
I'm gonna,
I'm gonna pick up the pace,
I promise.
Number three,
Letting your heart guide you.
So for me,
Really allowing myself to tune into my heart,
And to let her guide me,
I'm going to do a quick exercise with you.
This is so powerful.
And again,
If you want more science and info on the power of your heart,
Your heart intelligence,
Your heart coherence,
Go look in the past,
Go look on here.
You can go in the podcast here on YouTube,
On my website,
Go look for the interviews with Dr.
Debbie Rosman and Dr.
Rollin McCrady,
The CEO and the head scientist at HeartMath.
Greg Braden,
Many of his talks here,
His interviews,
We go into the science of heart intelligence,
Our heart has incredible ability to,
To guide us to,
To really have an intelligence.
So put your hand on your heart.
I'm doing that right now.
Take a deep breath and allow yourself to just sink in.
Imagine you're breathing through your heart.
And you might just ask yourself,
What is the most loving thing I can do right now for me?
Maybe you're wondering what to do next after listening to this podcast.
Ask yourself,
What is the most loving thing I can do?
And just notice,
Keep practicing.
And I'm telling you,
This has been a game changer.
So number three,
Let your heart guide you.
Number four,
Dress in a way that feels aligned,
That raises your energy.
This one is so important.
I didn't really get this for a while.
And I have to say,
I'm going to just out myself.
When I was a new mom,
I love a whole variety of styles and colors.
I love to decide what I'm going to wear based on how I'm feeling.
You certainly will find me in a lot of cash,
Lounge-y clothes.
I also love cute skirts and dresses.
And I remember I just had my second child and I really wanted to wear this cute little dress shorter.
And I remember asking a friend of mine,
I'm like,
Can I wear this?
Is this okay to wear this?
First of all,
I would never do that today.
I'm not going to ask anybody if I can wear something.
We all have the ability to choose and the right to choose.
And I remember she was like,
Julie,
Wear whatever you want.
You don't have to wear certain things because you're a mom.
So that's my philosophy.
You might see it different and that's okay.
But the point is,
Be comfortable in your skin.
Choose what you love.
When you lean towards love in any area,
It always is going to be a match energetically.
And so finding clothing,
Dressing in a way that feels aligned for yourself.
Maybe it's an older style that isn't in anymore.
Who cares?
If you love it,
Wear it.
Right?
Doesn't matter.
Doesn't matter.
So dressing in a way that feels aligned for yourself.
Number five,
Managing my vibe and that with others.
Meaning taking responsibility for my energy,
Taking responsibility for my energy and those that I'm around.
And getting that,
We have full control over our energy.
How I'm going to look at something,
How I'm going to take care of myself.
And I really take that as seriously,
Like really honoring my energy,
Managing my own vibration,
My own energy,
And making sure to be around others and other things in my life that have a high vibration,
That feel good to me.
That's going to differ for each of us.
For example,
I love,
I have one behind me,
Really wonderful candles.
I love crystals.
I love things that feel,
I love books.
Right?
I love pictures.
Things that feel good in my energy,
That feel good to me.
And really choosing to surround myself with those people and those things.
So managing your energy,
It's so important.
Number six,
Spending time in nature.
Gosh,
This became so pronounced for me,
Especially during the pandemic.
I'm guessing maybe for you as well,
The importance of getting outside,
Getting fresh air.
Remembering nature is,
You know,
Mother nature is such a teacher.
So that might look like a five minute walk.
I would just encourage you if that resonates,
Like start playing with this,
Getting out there with nature.
It sometimes looks like putting my hand on a tree.
I've even been known to hug a tree because the energy of a tree,
It's just so grounded,
So rooted.
So spending time in nature.
Number six,
Number seven,
Sleep and rest is key.
Getting enough sleep,
Top of my list.
It has helped with so so many areas of not feeling as well,
Feeling depleted,
Overwhelmed,
Anxious,
Getting enough sleep.
And for me,
That's between eight and nine hours.
For you,
It might be closer to seven.
But honoring that also taking time for rest.
It doesn't have to be,
You know,
Go,
Go,
Go,
Hyper productivity,
Achieving all the time.
That's been a lesson that I am still learning.
So learning to make those moments and those times for rest,
As well as sleep.
All right,
Number eight.
I love this one,
Journaling with my soul.
So journaling with your soul.
Another way to,
You might have heard of this is intuitive journaling.
And what I mean is getting a journal,
Like an actual journal that you hold in your hand,
Asking yourself a question,
Maybe you're stuck over something or doubtful or just uncertain of what to do.
Use your inner wisdom,
Ask yourself an open ended question,
And then allow yourself to write without editing.
You can also do this with a non dominant hand.
I won't get into the power of how this works.
But we know with quantum physics,
That the moment you ask a question,
It's like the same thing with the moment you observe,
You're an observer,
You become part of the new solution,
The new possibility.
So when you are,
You know,
Opening yourself to all kinds of possibilities,
I've just found,
I've really found parts of myself I didn't even know existed.
And frankly,
Lots of miracles have come out of that.
Okay,
Number nine,
Make sure to spend quality time with loved ones.
I have found in the past that I would often get caught up in working late hours,
Missing things,
Either with my friends or my husband or my children,
Try not to do that today as much.
And really getting that quality time is so important.
And so making that quality time with others,
And then also making that quality time with yourself.
Number 10,
We're doing this,
We're doing this,
My friend,
I'm gonna go a little faster.
Cultivating genuine friendships.
So if a friendship doesn't feel good to you,
If you're not feeling fed by it,
If it's feeling like it's spiritually empty,
I'm gonna encourage you,
It's okay to have friends that come and go.
So really cherish and honor those friendships that are deep and meaningful,
Where you have somebody who can tell you the truth,
That can give you loving critique,
That can say,
Hey,
That doesn't sound like your best.
I love having my deep friendships,
These beautiful souls all over,
Some near me and some not,
That I know are going to be genuine and honest and authentic and tell me the truth,
And that are loving.
So cultivating those friendships,
Those soul sisters,
I have many soul sisters,
A few soul brothers,
Like really having that be a value.
All right,
Number 11,
Your feet determine your priorities.
This is just,
You know,
Just like it sounds,
Wherever your feet are is really where you are valuing your time.
And so that's something to think about.
I know for me,
This was a wake up.
There were times when I chose to go to speak at a conference or be at an event and miss some of my children's earlier events in their lives.
And,
You know,
Whether it was,
It might have been like a play or something at school,
I tried not to miss too many of those,
But I realized my feet determine my priorities and,
You know,
Making sure you're clear on those priorities and that you are where you want to be.
All right,
So moving on to number 12,
Spend time with people who inspire you.
Make sure that there are people that are around you who inspire you to be your best,
Whether that is your partner,
It's your friends,
Maybe you're in a community.
I know for me,
Being in support groups and communities like this are so important.
I've seen this in my own life,
In the coaching academy that I have,
We have really,
Really amazing high vibe,
Inspiring people.
Find places where you can be part of a community,
Part of a group,
Part of connectedness with others that are inspiring you,
Not that are bringing you down.
Okay,
Number 13,
Working with people aligned with my business values,
With my values.
And I see this in business.
And I will just share a quick story real,
Real quick.
I had worked with somebody a couple years ago,
I thought was really going to help me in my business.
And I had this inner feeling like,
I'm not sure we're really on the same page with our values.
And it turned out,
We're not really,
We're not exactly.
I mean,
Bless her,
But we're not exactly aligned in our values.
And I made the decision since then that I'm only going to hire and work with.
So people that are coach that I mentor,
Those that I hire,
Like I make sure we are aligned in our values.
So really important one,
I think it's important for all of us to,
You have the right to say no,
And you also have the right to be choosy.
And so bringing those values into your business,
I think is,
Has been really important for me.
Number 14,
Saying no when it's a no,
Number 14,
Saying no when it's a no,
Or it's not a full yes.
That one,
My friend,
I am still working through,
But it's gotten so much better.
Like I'm cleared out with my body when it's a full yes,
When it's not,
And learning to say no,
Learning to say no,
So important.
Number 15,
Self-care is self-love.
It is not selfish.
It is crucial.
I just did an episode in November about that.
And if you want to listen and get inspired,
Go find that one.
But I'll just say it again.
Self-care is self-love.
It is incumbent upon each of us to care for ourselves because then we have a full cup,
A full tank.
And I am just like you want to be a service and make an impact.
Can't do that if you're not loving yourself.
Okay.
Number 16,
Stay curious instead of judging.
This is one that I have to remember all the time,
Especially with some children around.
And sometimes I notice it frankly with myself.
So rather than judging another person,
Even judging yourself,
Move into the lane of curiosity,
Of asking questions,
Staying curious.
And number 17 is the power of questions,
The incredible power of asking deep open-ended questions.
The moment that we get into that space of opening the door with a question versus shame or judgment or making someone wrong or making yourself wrong,
You change your energy,
You change your vibration.
You also change the way that you're looking at the situation.
And there's more possibilities,
New ways to understand what happened.
And frankly,
What I've seen,
It often leads to healing.
So 17 power questions.
Number 18,
Take your gifts and share them with the world.
Do not play small.
Okay.
This is like,
I feel very strongly about this,
Both for me,
For you.
Truly,
We are,
While we're all connected,
Obviously at the divine level,
Right?
We're all in this unified force way we're also individuated expressions of the divine.
You're never going to be in this lifetime ever again.
So those gifts,
Those skills that you have,
Like really go for it.
Let yourself explore those gifts,
Share them,
And please do not play small.
The world really does not need you to dim any of your light.
We need more of our light,
More of our authenticity,
Our gifts.
So I hope you'll really take that one to heart.
And if you need help and support around not playing small,
Come find me.
That's part of what I do when I coach.
Okay.
We're going to move on to number 19.
What is meant for you will always come back around to you.
Enough said.
That for me under that is trust,
Just deep trust that what is meant for me,
What is meant for you will always come back around.
That means that I can be less attached,
Hands off.
I don't need to be white knuckling things.
This is one I keep in my phone and I read daily just to give you a little sense.
Okay.
Number 20.
To compare is to despair.
I took that from the 12-step meetings and rooms.
I have been using that over the last 20 years.
And it's something I have to remind myself all the time.
Don't compare yourself to others.
It is not a level playing field to do that.
And we are all in our exact right time space place.
So don't compare to compare is to despair.
Number 21.
Process your emotions fully.
Give yourself the gift of allowing yourself to have all the feelings.
I used to eat over my feelings,
Shop over my feelings,
Drink over my feelings.
And today,
For me,
One of the biggest miracles is being able to actually honor them and sit with them.
So process your emotions fully.
22.
Surrender is strength.
In surrendering,
In allowing something greater than yourself to guide you,
The divine,
God,
The universe,
That is where our strength is,
Is to allow that light,
That force of intelligence,
Of loving intelligence to move through us.
Number 23.
Take responsibility for everything.
Take responsibility for everything.
I have learned this so many times.
I am in charge of my life completely,
As are you.
24.
Importance of fun and play.
Do not underestimate play dates with yourself,
With friends,
Like truly making time for fun.
Number 25.
Don't do life alone.
Oh my gosh,
This one has been a lifesaver ever since I started getting myself into support groups and working through my food addiction.
I realized the importance of having a team,
Of having people around me.
I actually talk a lot about this in my book,
Get a PhD in You,
If you need support or just ideas around that,
Whether that's counselors,
Coaches,
Reiki,
You know,
Healers,
Friends,
People,
You know,
Confidants,
People that you can really confide in,
And people that are there in your team.
Mind,
Body,
Spirit,
Right?
Maybe a spiritual mentor.
All right.
26.
You are not your thoughts.
Really important one.
I try to remember this almost every day.
We have over 70,
000 thoughts a day.
You are not your thoughts.
That's when it becomes so powerful to observe them because you realize you're not them,
Right?
You are not those thoughts.
You are a greater spirit,
Soul,
Having a human experience.
And again,
You are not your thoughts.
You are not your thoughts.
You are having a human experience.
And again,
Take what you like and leave the rest,
My friend.
This is according to my 48 years on this planet.
All right.
Number 27.
Milk what you're grateful for.
When you,
As often as you can,
Tap into gratitude.
How can I be grateful here?
What's the gift?
What we appreciate appreciates.
28.
We're made of energy and energy is real.
Honor and protect your energy.
For me,
I got a little turtle.
I keep it slow and steady and that ease not to rush.
Number 29.
Presence and attention is everything.
Being in this moment,
Realizing this breath,
This breath you're taking right now with me is a gift.
There are people around the world who did not take that breath,
Who did not exhale.
Presence,
Attention,
Honoring the moment,
It's everything.
30.
Forgiveness creates inner healing and sets you free.
This is one of my most important lessons is learning how to forgive others.
But most importantly,
What I've seen is learning how to forgive myself.
Learning how to forgive yourself.
31.
Choosing love when in doubt.
So when in doubt,
For me,
What I've noticed,
The answer,
The one that is always the high road,
That loving response is the one that I feel is truly what my soul desires for me.
32.
I think of kindness as my primary religion.
Being kind to myself,
To others,
Choosing,
Trying to do no harm,
To be kind in any way I can,
That is my compass.
That is my primary religion.
33.
Don't underestimate the workings of the divine.
Don't underestimate the power of this greater force of love in your life and what's possible.
34.
Focus on being like the light and let go.
The light,
If you think about the greater intelligence as an all-encompassing light,
It shines everywhere.
It does not discriminate.
Allow that light to shine through you.
I'm working on that myself,
Allowing it to shine through me to focus on being like the light,
Sharing the light,
And then letting go.
35.
Always look to see how I can be of greater service.
How can you be of greater service and of making a greater impact for the highest good of others?
I love to ask myself,
How might I be of greater service here to myself and others?
36.
We're getting there.
We're getting there.
Set intentions and really be like that intention.
If your intention is to be more loving,
Then ask yourself,
How can I be that way?
How can I bring that into my life?
Those intentions are magic.
37.
Spend time in silence every day to know yourself better and cut the outer noise.
So important,
Whether it's meditating,
Taking a walk,
Sitting still.
38.
Your body doesn't lie.
Listen to your body.
Ask what it's saying to you.
Ask about the messages of what's happening.
If there's pain,
Your body will never lie.
That one is probably one of my most important lessons.
39.
Turn your career and life over to the divine.
Surrender the outcome.
Now,
This is something I've been practicing for the last few years.
I get up and I just almost every morning when I remember say,
You know,
God,
You are my employer.
You are my director.
You are in charge.
And that has helped me incredibly just to let go and know that I will be placed where I'm meant to be placed.
40.
God is my employer.
That's what I just said.
It's the same kind of similar to turn your career and life over to the divine.
The divine is my employer.
If God doesn't work for you,
Then sub a word that does.
And if that doesn't fit,
Then that's cool.
I just like the idea that it is not about my will.
It's about aligning with the will of something greater than myself.
41.
Every tough experience has a gift.
Look for the gift in everything.
Ask yourself,
What is the gift here?
42.
Do what your soul moves you to do.
It's not about me anyhow.
And that comes back to really getting,
At least for me,
I just like to get back to that place of how can I be of service.
That choosing to do this podcast,
It's not about me anyhow.
I'm leading and I'm doing this solo episode.
I have to create all of the interviews and the show notes.
However,
My soul moved me to do this.
And it isn't about me.
It's about you.
It's about our world.
So find that in you.
What moves your soul?
43.
As much as possible,
Look for the divine in others.
Look for that divine spark in everyone else.
44.
It really does take a village.
So create that team.
Create that support around you.
And this is not just for you.
But if you have children,
If you have parents you're taking care of,
Make sure you're not doing this alone.
Lean into the village.
45.
Talk to your body lovingly.
Your cells,
Your organs,
All of it.
They're listening.
Talk to your body with appreciation and love.
I now do this thing.
I draw a heart around my body every day.
It probably looks a little weird,
But I love it.
And I just say,
I love you.
So talk to your body with love.
46.
When in doubt,
Don't.
When you're feeling that like,
For me,
That's really helped.
When in doubt,

And lastly is,
You always have a choice how to respond.
You always have a choice.

That taking a beat,
Taking a moment so that you can choose,
That I can choose to respond how I want.

Really,
Really hope that these 48 tips,
These lessons,
Hopefully wisdom,
Were helpful for you.
I wanted to do this for the end of the year as we move into the next year.
I invite you to really reflect,
Maybe find the top three or five that really resonated and to seek into your own self and ask your own U.

My next year and the years to come?
And I'm also going to just encourage you to love yourself,
Love your age,
Love whatever experiences you've gone through,
Because they all make you who you are right now.
And you,
My friend,
Are a masterpiece.
You are sacred.
And from my heart to yours,
I am just so grateful to be on this journey with you.
I love and cherish your U.
