This simple meditation practice invites you to imagine a much older version of you--someone older and wiser who knows just the guidance you need. You'll speak from your current life situation, perhaps asking for advice or expressing your hopes and dreams for that older self. Then we will invite that future version of you to respond, perhaps receiving some wisdom that you really need right now--from you. You may like to do this with a journal in the form of a letter, but you can simply do it internally as well.

Welcome to this guided meditation that will help you access wisdom and guidance from you,

Yourself.

But not the self you are today.

Rather,

A much older version of you.

A version that has seen it all,

Been through it all.

A version that knows just the advice you need with whatever you might be dealing with right now.

This is an excellent exercise to try when you're struggling with a decision,

Aren't sure where to turn,

Or just need some loving guidance in some way in your life right now.

If you like to journal,

You're welcome to do this as a written exercise.

If you'd rather keep the meditation in your mind or even speak it out loud,

That's completely fine as well.

Take a few moments to get comfortable,

Setting your meditation space as you like it.

Have your paper and pen ready if you're using those.

You're welcome to sit or lay down in any position that works best for you.

Imagine a circle of protection around your body.

You can imagine light,

Stones,

Chalk,

Salt,

Whatever else resonates for you.

And now take a moment to think about whatever it is you're going through.

Imagine that you could talk to someone older,

Wiser,

Who has been through it all,

But who also understands all this.

That person is you,

Nearing the end of your life,

Looking back on it all.

Talk to this elderly version of you in your mind or out loud if you'd like,

Or begin to write them a letter.

You can ask them questions,

Ask them for advice,

Perhaps tell them what you hope their life looks like at this point as they reach the end of this life.

I'll pause here for about a minute,

But please feel free to pause the meditation yourself so that you have as much time as you need to say what you want to say.

When this feels complete,

Take a deep breath.

If it feels right to move your body,

Shake your hands,

Change your position,

Feel free to do that.

Now imagine that you are that version of yourself,

Much older,

Coming close to the end of your life,

Looking back on all you've done,

All you've seen.

What would you tell this younger you in response to these questions,

Thoughts,

And hopes?

Speak or write now from this older perspective.

Again,

I'll pause for about a minute,

But take as much time as you need.

When this feels complete,

Take a few moments to reflect on what has been shared or reread what was written.

Notice how you feel in your body now.

Thank your older self for their guidance,

And thank the younger you for listening.

This part of you is always available anytime you need them.

Thank you for sharing this practice with me today.
