Good morning.
I hope to be meeting you in the first minutes or hours of the day,
Ideally in between sleep and waking.
I hope that you are still in bed,
Starting your day slowly,
Gently,
With an invitation to the wisdom of your dreams.
There is a chance you'll fall back asleep if you are still in bed,
So if you have timings to get to,
Make sure an alarm is set.
Close your eyes if they're not already.
Look with your third eye,
The deep perspective,
Your inner eye,
And see what images are still resting there in the dark.
Is there water,
Fire,
Air,
Or earth?
Are there animals,
People,
Friends,
Or lovers?
Are there structures,
Buildings,
Machines,
Paper?
You may or may not remember anything.
Not to worry,
These questions will signal the subconscious mind to bring the dreams back,
Especially if you are asking often,
Ideally every morning.
Drop your awareness into the space of your heart.
What feelings are still settling there?
Anxiety,
Fear,
Love,
Reassurance?
There may or may not be an image associated with these feelings.
Just let them come up.
What narratives can you remember from your dreams?
Are there stories or sequences?
What was your role in the dreams?
Who else was there?
What was your relationship with those others?
Now we're going to gently bring ourselves a little closer to waking.
I want to invite your thinking mind to see if we can find the nectar of these dreams and their meaning.
Take a deep breath if you'd like.
Maybe stretch and wiggle your fingers.
Keep your eyes closed or soft.
We're not quite finished with the dreams.
If you can't remember anything from last night,
We'll practice with a dream you can remember,
Whatever comes up right now.
Is there anything happening in your life right now that feels like that dream,
Even if it doesn't look like it?
If the dream was a metaphor,
What would it be a metaphor for?
What did you want or not want in the dream?
Now ask this question again for other characters in the dream.
What did they want or not want?
There may have been a significant object or a landscape.
Ask what it wanted or didn't want.
Whatever came up here for you or didn't is perfect.
If you'd like to write down your thoughts,
Feel free to roll over and find your journal and pen.
The more you practice this meditation,
The more you will teach your mind to remember your dreams and help you to think about their wisdom.
There may be important messages for you in the morning,
Or these dreams may simply be experiences of emotional processing that matter whether you are awake or asleep,
And in that case,
Doesn't really matter if you remember them or not.
Now check in again with your body.
If there are intuitive movements that feel good here,
Feel free to stretch or wriggle or roll or sigh,
Whatever feels pleasurable and sweet.
And in your last few moments in this morning's meditation,
Stretch your mind to the day ahead of you.
Is there anything in your dream that might inform an intention for today?
Perhaps there are other intentions that you're working with,
Energies or attitudes you're hoping to take with you as you begin to rise and attend to your day.
When you're ready,
Take your time to gently rise from your rest and attend to the rest of your day.
Knowing you'll meet your dreams again tonight.
Thank you for meditating with me and have a wonderful rest of your day.
