So just allowing the body to find a posture characterized by dignity,

Which we feel alert,

Awake,

And at the same time comfortable and rested.

Just doing what we need to do to switch from more of a doing mode to more of a being mode.

Just sitting.

Nothing to do.

Just being aware also at the beginning of the meditation of any striving,

Any need to kind of get somewhere else for things to be different than the way they are now,

For things to be better than the way they are now.

Holding that intention lightly and seeing if we can even put it to the side for now and just sit and be aware that you're sitting as you are.

Perhaps anchoring the attention in the points of contact between the body and the surface that it's touching.

Seeing sensations of contact that we haven't noticed yet.

We're here,

But we're ignoring them maybe.

And then noticing these points of contact,

Being aware of the pull of gravity,

Pulling us towards the ground,

Feeling the weight of the body.

What it feels like to be sitting right now.

OK.

And slowly expanding the field of attention to include other sensations in the body.

Including the sensations of breathing that are just ongoing.

As we become more and more aware of the body as a whole sitting here noticing if there's any attitude of striving of a desire for things to feel different in the body.

If we notice that see if it's possible to just kind of let that be and then just coming back to the kind of reality of what it's actually like right now seeing if we can make room for that.

You don't have to like it to make room for it to be with it.

So aware of the points of contact.

Aware of breathing and aware of the body as a whole just sitting here.

Nothing to do,

Nothing to change,

Nothing to attain,

Just sitting.

Noticing the pull of our thoughts or desires.

Loss and fantasy,

Problem solving,

Planning,

Remembering.

And then recognizing these waking up to this reality.

I'm not in the future,

I'm not in the past,

I'm sitting in a room right now.

I have a body and it's breathing from moment to moment.

My body's touching a surface.

There are sensations throughout my body.

And they change and evolve from moment to moment.

Can I be here for it?

Can I be here for it?

Checking in from time to time,

Am I really awake to this body sitting here?

And if not,

Can I wake up again and again?

I'm pretty brainless re emocinated.

Just resting in the awareness of this body sitting.

Just resting in the awareness of this body sitting.

Just resting in the awareness of this body sitting.

Just resting in the awareness of this body sitting.

Just resting in the awareness of this body sitting.

Just resting in the awareness of this body sitting.

Thank you. I love this meditation. It helps me settle my mind when I am caught up in an endless mental “to-do list”, which is all based in the future. Your soothing voice and practical words help bring me back again and again, to the more peaceful place of the present moment. Bookmarked to enjoy again!

One of my favorites. Just sitting and breathing. No pony rides on the beach or imagining flying on a dragon

Love it. Will be my go-to meditation when I'd like a short, guided one. It's perfect for creating that space of aware stillness that is at the heart of meditation. Thank you for your marvellous work, much appreciated!

Between the incidental background noises in the meditation and the noises of my husband crashing around the kitchen, I had plenty of opportunity to pause & re-focus on breath and body. Others have complained about the background noise but really, that's life: plenty of distractions and interruptions and imperfections. Meditation helps me to be less reactive to those things. So for me, this was excellent practice! Thank you, Julian!
