Meditation,
Medication for healing from injury,
Surgery or illness.
Welcome to this meditation for healing your body.
Spending time in meditation can help activate your internal healing capacities and when we approach that meditation in a loving way,
We can encourage healing from whatever might be out of balance or in pain in our bodies.
If you like this meditation,
I recommend doing it every day for a while during your healing phase so that your body can get used to being in this resting state and doing the work of its internal healing.
Stick with it just for as long as it feels good to do so.
Please begin in any comfortable position.
Lying down is just fine.
Close your eyes if that's comfortable for you.
Take a few deep breaths and start to turn your attention inward.
Allow each exhale to help you relax your body a little bit more.
Imagine dropping down into the support of the earth beneath you.
Trust that you will be held and supported,
That you can relax.
Allow your shoulders to relax.
Imagine your jaw and your cheeks.
Imagine the space between your eyebrows widening and softening.
Relax your tongue and your mouth.
Feel the breath moving deeper and lower into your body.
Feel the belly muscles soft and easy,
Receiving each breath.
Feel your hips heavy,
Your legs and feet relaxed.
Now take your hands out in front of you if you can,
Or simply imagine your hands out in front of you.
Place the palms toward each other and feel the warmth between the palms.
There's a soft white light growing between your hands,
A gentle,
Glittering,
Healing white light.
With every breath,
The light gets a little brighter,
A little bit stronger.
This is a light that comes from within you,
From your internal capacity to heal.
When you feel ready,
Place your hands on or near the area where you have pain,
Injury,
Or where you feel your illness the most.
There may very well be more than one place,
Just start in the most obvious place.
Touch that part of your body with your hands,
Or again,
Imagine placing your hands there.
Feel a warm,
Soft white light bathing this part of your body,
Filling up the spaces,
Encouraging the cells to regenerate and grow,
Soothing pain,
Directing blood and energy in the body to this place to help it to heal.
Breathe into the sensation under your hands and feel the healing capacity of the white light entering your body through your hands.
Trust in your body's internal capacity to heal,
This magical ability that we have as human beings to grow and shift and change,
Especially when we are at rest.
Relax into the sensations that you feel as this part of your body heals.
When you feel ready,
Place your palms again to face each other.
Feel the white light growing between them again,
This beautiful,
Glittering,
Healing energy that easily grows between your hands as soon as you offer your intention to it.
When you feel that the energy is ready,
Place your hands on your body again.
It might be the exact same spot.
It might be a centimeter over,
Or it might be a completely different part of your body,
Where you feel some tenderness,
Pain,
Or exhaustion.
The hands can be on or near that part of the body.
The white light knows exactly where to go.
Feel it suffusing the tender area,
Offering comfort,
Ease,
Lightness,
And the capacity to heal.
Keep breathing into this area,
Imagining the soothing white light helping your body to rest,
Recover,
And repair.
Perhaps you can imagine the light like an energetic bandage or salve,
Covering and protecting the vulnerable places in your body.
Perhaps you can imagine it as a cleansing light,
Helping to remove whatever should not be there in your body and creating space for the new growth of healthy cells.
You may notice some emotions coming up with this practice.
That's part of the healing process as well.
You may feel some anger,
Fear,
Or grief arise as you spend time with your injury or illness.
That's just fine.
Relax your jaw.
Keep breathing.
And if tears or a sigh or a sound needs to come out of your mouth,
Just let that happen too.
Allowing yourself to feel your feelings without needing to fix or change them is a deeply important part of your healing.
You may like to stay here with your hands on your body a little bit longer.
You may like to face your palms together and cultivate more white light for your injury or for some other part of your body.
You can do this as many times as you like.
When you start to feel tired or that this meditation is simply complete for you today,
Bring your hands together at your heart or imagine doing so and gently bow your head to your hands,
Thanking your body for talking to you,
For trying to protect you,
And for going on this healing journey with you.
