Using an image that you choose from nature that evokes feelings of calm and peace, this recording will guide you in Resource Tapping. Resource Tapping is a skill-building practice developed by Dr. Laurel Parnell, EMDR therapist and trainer. In this practice, you will identify your own peaceful place and combine it will bilateral tapping (right-left-right-left). I hope this practice helps you to connect with nature and your own capacity for healing.

This recording will guide you in tapping in images from nature that evoke peaceful feelings.

Before you settle down and listen to this recording,

You might just pause the recording and think about some place in nature that you've been to or that you can imagine.

And think about all of the qualities that make it peaceful and just write some notes down.

Note what you see,

What you hear,

What you can smell,

And what you feel in these places.

It might be a forest or sitting by a stream or a lake,

At an ocean beach,

In the sun,

Or maybe like the rain.

So just pausing and identifying a place that for you is a place where you can relax and settle in peace.

And so just beginning this practice now,

If you're comfortable with closing your eyes and going and turning your attention inside.

Feeling the sense of sitting here.

Feeling the contact with the seat that you're sitting on.

Your feet on the ground,

Resting on the floor.

The feeling of contact.

Becoming aware of your breathing.

And taking some deep,

Relaxing breaths to begin to settle down.

Allowing the fullness of each in-breath,

And particularly the fullness of each out-breath.

It's so important when we're feeling stressed or tense to allow that out-breath to be as full as possible.

And allow the space in your lungs to take in the next breath.

And now bringing to mind the place you identified in nature that helps you to feel peaceful and calm.

Again,

This could be a place that you've been to,

Or an image from a movie or a book or a magazine.

And notice what you see there.

Imagining looking around.

Noticing the details of the scene.

Paying attention to the colors.

The shapes.

And textures that you can see.

What is it that makes this place so peaceful?

And what do you hear?

What sounds would you hear if you were there in your peaceful place?

And what do you smell?

Is there a particular sense that come,

Or that you can imagine being there,

That would be pleasant and calming?

As you inhale,

Imagining smelling those scents.

And noticing what you feel on your skin.

Maybe there's a sense of the air.

Would it be warm or cool?

And taking some time to notice how your body feels as you imagine yourself in this scene,

In this place.

And when you feel a sense of calm and peace,

Begin to tap.

Tapping 6 to 12 times.

Right,

Left,

Right,

Left.

Just in your own time.

And stopping now to see how you feel.

If you feel good and wish to continue tapping,

You can do so.

Tap as long as it feels positive.

If for any reason it feels bad or negative,

Stop tapping.

And either return to the nature resource you began with,

Or think of another one,

And begin the steps again.

You may wish to create a cue word for your nature resource.

For example,

If your image is a redwood circle,

You could say to yourself redwood circle as you tap in the image.

Or a majestic mountain.

In this way,

You can evoke the feeling of calm associated with the image at a time when you need it by saying the cue words and tapping.
