
Healing Inner Place Meditation

This is a guided meditation focused on visualizing healing and being in a healing place. The primary focus of the instructions is on connecting with our own capacity for healing through imagining a place of healing and the presence of a healing energy/being. It invites the listener to briefly and gently touch on a painful memory or physical illness or injury and offers wishes for healing, health, and well-being. The instructions are loosely based on Jack Kornfield's Healing Temple meditation.

This is a guided meditation practice to cultivate health and healing.
So just beginning to find a way to sit or lie down comfortably,
Gathering together anything you need to be comfortable.
And then just when you found a comfortable place,
Maybe allowing your eyes to close if you'd like to.
And just making sure that this posture allows you to feel present,
Awake,
Grounded,
And relaxed.
And as you rest here,
As much at ease as possible,
Feeling your connection to the earth,
Feeling that sense of gravity holding you and beginning to just sense the center of yourself and feeling how your breath breathes itself inside your body.
And then without trying to change anything,
Beginning to bring a kind attention to what's comfortable in your body,
Noticing what's comfortable,
What's most at ease or neutral,
What's the most comfortable area.
And then also noticing what's uncomfortable in your body right now.
And bringing the same kind attention,
This caring attention to noticing what's uncomfortable in your body.
And noticing if it's tension or contraction or pain or unease in certain areas.
And allowing your attention to like a pendulum to shift and notice where there's more ease,
Even just a bit of relaxation in other areas.
And noticing the state of your mind,
Noticing if there's clutter in your mind or sort of repetitive thoughts,
Noticing the state of your heart.
Does your heart feel contracted,
Tight,
Or soft and open?
Is it full of some emotion or feeling such as fatigue or joy or sadness or irritation?
Simply witnessing whatever is present without judgment,
Just acknowledging what's here for you in your experience right now.
Breathing and in some sort of way,
Seeing if you can let yourself be easy with it all with just what's here.
It's like,
Okay,
That's what's here right now.
So just acknowledging the body,
The mind,
The heart.
And you could pause the recording if you want or just continuing.
And in this part of the practice,
We'll begin to envision or sense in any way you can that you're floating up into the air,
As if on a magic carpet,
Or maybe it's a really special kind of airplane going up into the clear blue sky and taking your time to really sense and feel a real felt sense like you felt before of flying,
Imagining or sensing that you're floating above the earth in the stillness of the clear air and luminous sunlight.
Just imagining yourself floating and flying,
Noticing just how you'd like to be flying.
What's the speed?
Is there a breeze that's carrying you?
Noticing how you can control where you go,
How you move,
And just whatever way feels good for you.
Just taking whatever time you'd like to with this.
You could pause the recording to do that if you'd like.
And then just now or after a minute or two,
Allowing yourself to gradually descend,
Noticing the landscape that you'd like to descend into.
And I'd like to suggest setting the intention to descend into a field,
A setting that has a sense of healing and nurturing and health,
Sort of a space of healing,
A place of great wisdom and healing and love.
I'm letting this place in some way be a surprise.
It may have a sense of someplace that you've been before,
But still with some element of kind of intrigue and surprise.
It may,
If you prefer,
Be some place that you've never seen.
It may be indoors or out.
Just taking your time to come to imagine and feel and picture this healing place and sensing how you feel as you come to be in this place of healing.
What does the energy of this healing place feel like to you?
How would you like it to feel?
How does it affect your body and spirit to be present in this place of healing?
As you look around,
As you sense the temperature,
Maybe a place where you sit or lie down to rest there,
Breathing in the scent,
The freshness of the air.
Maybe there's sound like water.
And as you sense yourself in this place,
Feeling how its energy is affecting you,
Letting yourself become aware of the wounds you carry that require healing.
And once you have at least one of these wounds or injuries clearly in mind,
Become aware that there is this beautiful,
Kind of like an altar,
If you will,
Place of healing nearby.
And imagining yourself sitting in front of this place,
This very particular kind of healing space within this greater healing place.
And this might sound funny,
But maybe after a time,
A wise and loving healer who lives in this place comes walking towards you.
Maybe it's someone you're familiar with,
Or maybe you like to just imagine some fresh being.
Letting yourself open to sense or envision this sort of luminous being.
And then,
As you open to sense or envision this sort of luminous being as they appear,
And as this being with healing qualities approaches you,
And maybe just really having a sense of this healing being and energy within yourself,
Bowing lightly to this healing energy,
Noticing how it's bowing to you,
And imagining how this being can put their gentle healing hand on the part of you,
Part of your body where you're most deeply wounded,
Place that needs that healing.
And feeling the presence of this healing hand on this injured place,
This pained heart.
Maybe it's on your forehead or even cradling the back of your head with their hand,
Or both of their hands if you like.
And really feeling the support of those healing hands.
And if you wish,
You could actually take your own hand or hands and put them on the location of this wounded area.
And just holding this place of difficulty,
This place that needs healing,
Touching it as if you were guided by this great healing energy,
This being,
Knowing that no matter how many times you've buried or resisted this injury or sorrow,
How many times you've greeted it with fear or aversion,
Now is the time you can finally open to it and experience healing.
And as you feel your body opening to this healing touch,
Explore your sensations.
Is the touch warm or cool?
Is it firm or soft and yielding?
Let your awareness be gentle as if learning the loving touch of someone like a figure of Kuan Yin,
The goddess of compassion,
Some really compassionate being.
Feeling your wounds,
Fears,
And difficulties touched by pure sweetness,
And openness.
As the very core of your wounds opened to the touch of healing,
Sense how you've closed off from this pain,
How you've wished it would go away,
Maybe how you've rejected some feelings.
And now just maybe with this greater sense of readiness to open your heart to experience this pain in this moment held by a love that's so strong,
Held by a loving kind of awareness and attention with the touch of this luminous healing being.
And by your own hand,
Your own intrinsic capacity for healing,
Feeling the medicine of healing enter you through this touch and staying with this healing touch for as long as it is helpful.
Feeling free to shift to any other areas that ask for healing,
Really taking whatever time you need,
Moving your hand to a different area,
Sensing the contact,
The energetic feeling,
Maybe the warmth,
The firmness or softness of the touch,
And allowing that healing to really sink in.
Knowing that you have this capacity within you,
To cultivate this healing.
And just whenever you're ready to,
You can pause this recording,
You can come back to it.
But just when you feel ready for this kind of luminous healing sense to begin to remove their hand,
Notice that they have certain kind of gifts to give you.
Like sort of imagining this package of perfect medicine for you on this place that the being now places in your hands.
Just noticing what this image of this healing medicine might be.
It'll just be in a simple form of a symbol,
Exactly what you need for healing.
Opening this gift of medicine and seeing what's inside.
And if you cannot see it clearly,
Holding it up to the light,
Holding this symbol of the medicine that you need in your hands,
And becoming aware of just what it means for you.
Knowing this symbol of healing and medicine is coming from within you.
And now relaxing and drinking in the blessings of being in this healing place.
And in the presence of this healing,
Wise,
Luminous presence.
Imagining this healing presence leaning over to you with great compassion and whispering into your ear,
The healing words you most need to hear.
Letting yourself hear,
Imagine,
Think of,
Or sense the healing words of this being.
Receiving their blessings in any way you can.
Remembering their gift and these words and taking them into your heart.
Noticing the sense of this healing settling into your heart and into your body.
Fully and completely with each breath.
Letting it touch every part of your being.
And before you go,
Just letting it touch your heart.
And before you leave,
If you have any questions for this wise,
Healing presence,
Know that you can ask them and they will answer you.
And when you feel satisfied,
Resting in this healing place and allowing its healing and compassionate spirit to fill your heart and body and mind.
Maybe like the sense of water or air floating,
But with this anchored presence,
Letting it seep into every part of your being and knowing you can stay in this place for as long as you wish.
And when you're ready to leave,
Imagine you can bow to this healing being,
This healing energy with gratitude for everything that they've given to you and for your capacity to touch into this healing energy within you.
Knowing as you depart from this healing place,
That something of this sort of temple of healing is inside you.
It's available to return to anytime you need it.
Remembering that image that you carry with you and that you carry all of the medicine and healing you will ever need inside your own heart.
So just taking a few breaths with this healing energy,
The sense of this capacity of healing in your heart and allowing yourself to carry it with you throughout your days and nights.
